what I find wonderfully intriguing about kuina is her confidence!!, the way she may act arrogant yet hides a fear of falling behind that she just accepted for the most part, before the promise... I just adore her headstrong personality and slightly cocky demeanor so much. gah. usually when you think "dead childhood friend to strong tough guy who's motivated by a promise he made to her" you think of a gentle girl who was kind and loving and saw the beauty in every living thing; and while I do appreciate those characters, kuina's rage strikes a chord with me. her frustration was so strong that zoro would never forget it. and like, same lol. kuina was zoro's rival, the daughter of the head of the dojo, the cool and undefeated older sister figure hiding a deep insecurity insisted by what she had been taught about being a woman. and she was fucking MAD about it, and I'm obsessed with it!!!! she was mad at being born a girl because she had been taught that meant she could not achieve her dream. she was cool and collected but also fierce and angry and sad and only just 11 years old. her memory persists.
in the manga, I think the main memory of her is kuina crying, telling zoro he was lucky he was born a boy. this does kinda fit the "lovely somber girl, victim of the world's cruelty" image more, which is why I AM SO CRAZY OVER EPISODE 19 FOR WHAT THEY GAVE US ON KUINA. her relationship with her father, the interactions with zoro, and fight 2001 is always so vivid and haunting to me. SHE!!! exposing a vulnerability and making a promise just to die the next day. back to the "tough guy remembering the past which motivates him" trope thing: it'd be the girl smiling and saying something touching or heartfelt, yeah? well for zoro it's kuina beating him 2000 times at something he was good at. for zoro it's her defeating him for a 2001st fight WITH REAL SWORDS and then crying about it. for zoro it's seeing someone he respects crumble and fall apart. the memories of her he holds onto are mostly her fighting and being sad... her strength and fears... Man these kids drive me crazy
our petty king~
Do you think the strawhats had a heated debate about this over supper one time?
I TOTALLY FEEL THIS AS AN ARO
I JUST WANT TO SEE THEM KISS AND WATCH CREEPILY IN THE CORNER
being ace is so weird cause when you're watching shows you get a lot of "omfg this person is so hot i want them to kiss me" but you're just here like "omfg this person is so hot i want them to kiss this equally hot person who has chemistry with them"
falling in love with your captain am i right π
Happy Birthday to my girl Hiyori, I know it's 9 minutes until it is no longer the 23rd, but happy birthday anyway.
Also have this meme, it's probably from somewhere else on Tumblr but I can't remember where.
Hiyori again π
The Himboβ’ energy is off the charts
Experimenting with my art again
I playfully flirt with some of my friends constantly πππ
On a serious note, do any other aromantic people relate to wanting to platonically kiss a friend, like just on the cheek? I get that urge really often but don't want to come across as weirder than I already am. Platonic hugs just don't cut it half the time π
(I think I just want a queerplatonic relationship with another aromantic person but don't know how and at what age I can actually consider that)
Were any other aroaces/aros originally terrified of saying things like "i love you" to your friends because you really didnt want to come off as flirting or nah
eyepatch + chopper live reaction to zoro saying fuck. the crew came up with the rule to not swear around chopper
Mmmmm... (and other noises of approval)
Although my main OTP is Zoro/Hiyori (idk why it just is), I think that something great about One Piece is how there are few ships that almost everyone absolutely despises that are regularly talked about, which to me just shows how well each character gets along with each other, enough to encourage a healthy dose of enjoying a large range of ships.
Most of the Strawhats (minus chopper because he's too baby) can be shipped together for genuine reasons that many people can get on board with, and if people don't like that so much they can ship them with any of the other people they interact with in specific arcs.
It's really a testament as to how Oda's writing of the main crew makes them so fun to read, draw and write interacting with each other.
The beautiful thing about One Piece is that I genuinely enjoy a lot of the ships, even if I donβt necessarily ship them.
I will see a ship post with art or just funny moments of two characters I never even considered and be like;
"Yes they are so in love",
& then go back to my citrus trio and frobin brainrot.
You know the One Piece brainrot is bad when you see a wanted poster for Feathers McGraw in the new Wallace and Gromit and think it's a reference π
She/her (Although I don't really care tbh) I'm also aromantic and cisgender.
