Hank, why do you have a stark computer? I thought you would've made your own.
Hank: I use a Stark sometimes because I know Tony spies on it, and it’s fun to type weird things into google and watch him freak out and try to decifer what it means. Recently, I’ve been researching “What to do when you have romantic feelings towards shrubs.” Tony didn’t look me in the eye on our last skype call. It’s pretty great.
So, I work from home for Keurig. Someone in Gotham set up an account years ago under the name Red Robin. I figured they were trolling us.... And then they regularly place $500 orders.... With Bruce Wayne's credit card. I actually talked to him once. Fell asleep halfway through and someone picked up the phone, apologized and hung up... Think it was either Nightwing or Batman. All I know is that they placed an order for a brewer and 8 boxes of pods to come to my apartment.

Dick is the kid who stubbornly leaves Bruce on read for months if his dad says ONE thing he doesn't like. Jason is the kid who'll obsessively check his phone to see if Bruce returned his " Morning, fuckface" text with his usual " Good morning, son. Love you" and WILL freak out if he doesn't get the ❤️ attached to it
FYI, I have also locked all my fanfics down to registered users only because of the AI scraping on AO3. I'm one of many fan creators doing this right now and I know it stinks for users without an AO3 account, but it's the only option writers have available to us at the moment to stop our work from being scraped and stolen.
If this makes you mad, the Federal Register is currently open to comments on AI accountability until June 12th, 2023.
It only takes a second to leave a comment to ask for legislation that works used in AI creations or training MUST secure the express consent of the original creator before they can be used. If we can get protections for artists, writers, musicians and everyone who creates that their work cannot be used in AI without their permission, we can go back to making fanworks freely available without fear of them being misused. Until then, we're stuck playing defense until the courts catch up.
(If you're a fan creator looking to do this as well, AO3 has a tool to let you do all your fics at the same time in seconds. On your dashboard, go to Edit Works and you'll be able to change the status on everything at once.)
If you missed the context, AO3 recently found that the archive was scraped for use in AI services like ChatGPT and Sudowrite. While they put in protections in December 2022 to try to stop it from happening in the future, it's not foolproof and there is nothing they can do about works already swiped prior to that date. The archive is recommending fan creators restrict their works to registered users only to prevent against additional large scale scraping in the future.

someone I follow on the bird app just announced they're starting a very exclusive private fic server because they and a bunch of other people want to talk about how much they love the fics they're reading, and as an author can I just say that a really great place to talk about a fic you love is in the comments for that fic
I understand that people are trying to create safe spaces, but as the number of comments that I get on my fics dwindles with each passing year, knowing these spaces exist where my fics are being discussed, places that I am excluded from, makes me want to write fic LESS
I mean I guess who cares, right, because if I stop writing, there's 10,000 other people that will continue...but if you participate in a fic "book club" server and you say nice things there about a fic you loved, maybe copy and paste that into a comment on AO3?
the only thing fanfic writers are asking for in return for hours of hard work is attention. please don't rob us of the one thing that we hope for when we hit "post"
my journey from a DC animated fan to a DC comic reader so far has been pretty much "oh cool I like this" -> "WHAT" -> "ok ok so it was a bad take before I need to research more" -> "WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT'S JUST FANON" -> "So I need to pay more attention to the writers' names" -> "I'm still trapped in batfamily hell when do I get more time for arrowfamily hell" -> "where the fuck do I start with the laterns" -> "cool cool I think I get it now" -> "NO I'M NOT GETTING SHIT" -> "I only had Jason Todd for half a year but if he died again I would kill everyone in DC and then myself"
Tom, your Pter is showing. answering calls in an interview just because its robert? yeah, not gonna comment that.

I wonder if, in superhero universes, the villains ever get contacted by those “Make a Wish Foundation” and similar people.
I mean, the heroes do, of course they do, kids who want to meet Spiderman or Superman or get to be carried by the Flash as he runs through Central City for just thirty seconds.
But surely there are also the kids, who - because they are kids and sometimes kids are just weird - decide that what they really, really want is to meet a supervillain. Because he’s scary or she’s awesome or that freeze ray is just really, really cool, you know?
