Reblog If You Love Him! ♡

Reblog if you love him! ♡

Fr, my friends always pronounce the umlaute and it's kinda making everything worse

I love how bands used to add the umlaut dots to their names because they thought it made them look badass. I have bad news for you guys: I read your name as you write it and that makes you not sound badass but dorky at best and as if you can't spell at worst.

I don't know if anyone even wants my opinion on this but imma just say it anyways.

You're pretty much right about all that and I think as well that neither of those should be okay. I mean most of them are already more or less happily married, like just leave them alone.

Also it's just disgusting to a certain degree and I just think that people should keep it to themselves if they have such thoughts.

I agree with you and I think it's pretty important that someone finally said it.

I've admittedly made tasteless jokes in the past (a realization I've recently come to), but some of you are far too comfortable with the way you discuss GNR in posts and anonymous asks.

Stuff like: "What's his tip color?" "How big is it?" "I bet he's packing a monster." "I want him inside me."

And hundreds more along the same lines flood discussions. I recognize the potential hypocrisy in my critique, but I feel compelled to address this.

Imagine a blog dedicated to a female rockstar where anonymous questions from teenage boys read: "I bet it's bubblegum pink." "I wonder what her breasts feel like." "I want to suck those things so bad." "I bet it grips."

You would be among the first to condemn it, labeling such remarks as inappropriate, objectifying, and unacceptable under any pretense (humor included), and you'd be right.

So why is this behavior normalized when the subject is a male musician? Is it because they're men? Is it because you believe it's permissible simply because you're a woman? The truth is, this conduct is no different from that of the stereotypical "horny men" often criticized for their behavior. The only difference is that women engaging in this receive a pass due to:

A) The lack of seriousness attributed to such remarks when directed at men.

B) The perception that such statements are inherently comedic.

If I, or any other guy, were to make similar comments about a female musician, I or they'd be labeled a pervert or a disgusting creep. The same standard should apply universally.
