Due to differences in pressure, temperature, and composition of atmospheres, sound waves would travel differently to our ears on Mars. This video shows how I sound on Earth and how I would sound on Mars. (turn sound on) #SolarSystemAmbassador #space #mars #perseverance https://www.instagram.com/p/CMSX5DDD_Dm/?igshid=1wa38o2h8446q
My @lucy_mission shirt arrived! LUCY has just started a 12 year mission to 8 different asteroids! Each asteroid visited will provide more clues to the beginning of our solar system. #stem #nasa #solarsystemambassador #lucyinthesky #lucy https://www.instagram.com/p/CVUHlc_sXbB/?utm_medium=tumblr
Gathering materials for my first Solar System Ambassador event, the landing of the Perseverance rover on Mars. This one hits me a little differently, since I had a small part as a judge in the name choice essays. Perseverance touches down on Mars on February 18, 2021. #mars #perseverance @nasa @nasasolarsystem #space #marsrover #mars2020 https://www.instagram.com/p/CLBiu2uD1gX/?igshid=1x25d71dp0b22
What a day! I’m still trying to take it all in. I’ve been with this mission for some time in various capacities. I took classes on Percy’s numerous systems, so I could TEACH about Percy’s numerous systems. I read hundreds of students’ essays to narrow down a winning name, Perseverance. My name has hitched a ride on Percy from Earth to the surface of Mars. Percy’s real mission begins NOW, as does mine. I look forward to sharing the data Percy collects with wide eyed kids. Today was awesome. #SolarSystemAmbassadors #CountdownToMars #NASA @nasasolarsystem @nasajpl https://www.instagram.com/p/CLdV52qjQhx/?igshid=1s8us4m4boe1j
I had a wonderful time talking about human space flight to 3rd Graders at Starling Elementary today! The kids were very knowledgeable and had fantastic questions! I love the reaction I get when I tell my two “Gemini Astronauts” they have to sit next to each other and not shower for two weeks! Everybody: “EEEEWWWWWWW!!!” #stemeducation #STEM #NASA #ArtemisGeneration #Artemis #SolarSystemAmbassador #Orion #sls #spaceflight #gwinnettcounty #gwinnettcountyschools #graysongeorgia #wearegoing #explorepage #space https://www.instagram.com/p/CmLF0wZuxw8/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Well, at least your name can.
One of the planet Jupiter’s largest and most intriguing moons is called Europa. Evidence hints that beneath its icy shell, Europa hides an ocean of liquid water – more water than all of Earth’s oceans combined. In 2024, our Europa Clipper robotic spacecraft sets sail to take a closer look…and when it launches, your name can physically be aboard! Here’s how:
NASA’s Message in a Bottle campaign invites people around the world to sign their names to a poem written by the U.S. Poet Laureate, Ada Limón. The poem connects the two water worlds — Earth, yearning to reach out and understand what makes a world habitable, and Europa, waiting with secrets yet to be explored.
The poem will be engraved on Europa Clipper, along with participants' names that will be physically etched onto microchips mounted on the spacecraft. Together, the poem and names will travel 1.8 billion miles to the Jupiter system.
Signing up is easy! Just go to this site to sign your name to the poem and get on board. You can send your name en español, too. Envía tu nombre aquí.
The Europa Clipper launch window opens in October 2024, but don’t wait – everyone’s names need to be received this year so they can be loaded onto the spacecraft in time. Sign up by Dec. 31, 2023.
We hope you’ll be riding along with us! Follow the mission at europa.nasa.gov.

It’s gonna be a long night! I’m super excited to be at @kennedyspacecenter for the Artemis 1 Launch! The launch is scheduled for 8:33am local. There will be a two hour window. If it doesn’t launch tomorrow, the next window is September 2, 2022. . . . . . #explorepage #artemis #artemisgeneration #stem #nasasls #SLS #orion #wearegoing #nasaexploration #solarsystemambassadors (at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch09ZFquI_l/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
I host public outreach events about the science and research taking place everyday on the International Space Station. A favorite event of mine is called "Story Time From Space", where astronauts onboard the ISS read children's stories featuring space science and STEM topics. (Opinions are my own.)
