I believe that both we the audience & the in universe Planeswalkers don't really know the true existent of magic or the lay lines that run through every Plane, so every Planeswalker will have there own theory's & names for mana, and where it comes from, its just that we were introduced through Alpha so we stick to what we know.
Personally I see it as all the potential energy of a location that could be collected/used in one amount of time/turn, Planes have the light & warmth of the sun and the growth fields of grains, grasses or other such that don't fall into Green's domain.
Islands have the flow of the water the pulling of the current from the moon & the creatures that swim within it.
Swamps have the decay fueling the growth of other plants or whatever dwells there.
Red... Yes the volcanos speak for themselves but also landslides & the movement of tectonic plates,
And Green's forests and the color's ability to grow out of control with the highest ramp of the colors should speak it for itself. (As well as Green's ability to produce mana of other colors)
It's the non-colored that are more interesting, they are cities, ruins or lands where not even the dead dwell (Bazaar of Baghdad, Scorched Ruins & Field of the Dead)... Or places so obscure that not even the colors have defined those places (Sheltered Valley, Winding Canyons & Rath's Edge) can produce mana that is ether so mixed together that cannot be separated into it's individual colors, or create a new type of mana.
With the Izzet mapping the multiverse threw the Omenpaths, I would like a character interviewing others plane by plane, each native explaining how they see each of the basic lands & what makes them so.
Is the land itself necessary, or just the Idea of the land? We have scene great & terrible things along our journey through the Blind Enteritis, so is there a land of pure blue mana? Mabey, but it would be so perfect that it would destroy us if we ever try and tap into it.. But Tolarian Academy is dame close, no wonder it keeps getting attacked.
This card is a Colorshifted/planeshifted version of "Kormus Bell" printed first all the way back in Alpha. Bell Angles also known as Guardian Bells, Biker Bells or Gremlin Bells are little knick-knacks usually sold at little christen gift-shops. It is an Angle Construct to imply that unlike other Artifact Angles which were created by the plane itself, that it was man made. Hence Kormus', As in it was ether made by or popularized by him. Wanted to give it flavor text, but unsure of what one to use.
I wish there was more love and recognition for the Pokemon GameCube games, I originally wanted this out for Colosseum's 17th birthday (in the US) in March, or even two weeks ago for Europe's 17th birthday.
My first tries with Digital Watercolor, not entirely happy with how they came out, but it was a learning experience.
More "Realistic" paintings for Portfolio, The hands are messed up for a reason other than I'm bat at doing hands. On the battlefield you’ll be lucky if you loose just a finger or get a minor infection.
Ok, here’s the rest of the Individual shots & the side by side for my take on Ohakdamon. I need to work on the amount of “Scratches” to not over do them but its really the first time if done this style so I’m still learning.
"Will you go, to venture beyond the setting sun? to seek the land of Whine & Honey? Ether you are braver than any man, or as foolish as they come, I will never tell. But you got this, you give it all your gusto!"
Some spicy fanart for Frozen Shepard's character "Bella" from TheLoadingCrew "Pathfinder: Rise of the Runelords" campaign.
A new year for ramblings, new year for BS ideas. This time being Magic the Gathering, Magic is a complex game and only getting more with power creep in order to sell products, with this need to make money they have to plat it safe and won't experiment in how mechanics work. This is where we step in and create possibilities that they are too much of a cowered to do/revisit, this time ramping equipment.
Inspired by Future Sight's "Second Wind" & "Flowstone Embrace" Future Sight being the 'Stuff we may do in the future' set was made up of one-off mechanics in order to invoke a "Welcome to the World of Tomorrow" feeling. Some were successful and we have scene some cards after the set, but others they have admitted they they can never do again, 'Second Wind' being one of them for how confused players were with it. It is a Aura Enchantment that taps to tap or untap the Enchanted creature, no the Enchanted creature does not tap to do this effect the Aura itself does. When you put it like that it makes sense, but with the literal rest of the cards having static effects or the 'Enchanted creature has "Tap to -"' in the mist of a game is confusing. So I want to add to that more, this being Equipment that are also Mana Rocks.
What do I mean by this, I mean what I mean, that being Equipment like your various "Bone Saws" & "Swords of Fire and Ice" combined with ramping artifacts that tap for Mana such as "Marble Diamond" or "Drake-Skull Cameo".
Some of the advantages of this: would being able to have smaller sets with a good amount of ramp & complexity needed to make a satisfying experience, as well as to give equipment more slots in a set without making the play experience less desirable/bogged-down by not being able to use/equip it to creatures and take up valuable space in a deck (For Draft & Limited formats)
Down sides will be: Having to make it's Casting Cost being a minimum of 3 mana without the equip cost, or 4 mana or higher depending on the Effect of the Equipment being higher powered. People not understanding that you could tap the equipment while equipped to add mana. I don't think a dule colored rock can exist needing to be a base 4 with a equip cost of at least 3 in order to not overshadow/power creep the the 'Clue stone' cycle.
(Tangent; Dammit WotC you print the mana rocks in every commander product you make, reprint the Cluestones to update them to have the 'Clue' subtype. I want my 'Graf Mole' synergy!)
So while I do think they can work, they wont be made anytime soon due to the abundance of other already existing Mana Stones.
Sorry for not uploading here for a month or more but here is some Halloween stuff. As part of Protonjon’s community where is a sup community known as the egg-pack and the B.V.A. (booru voodoo avengers), Well the BVA are based off of the avengers and there are a lot of avengers teams. So decided to draw most if not all of the BVA in Avengers 1,000,000 BC style. Now the reasoning for there designs:
Tiger - Instead of one of the shortest members thin incarnation is the tallest (Mortal) member
Negative - Intelligent but has not evolved into humanoid form, but where did he get shades?
Aelita - With no tech (created by humans) I decided her reality warping powers (the paintbrush) is magic
Rae - Is it another case of time travel or is Rae just unknowingly old? and if so why have they never mentioned to the others about meting the in the past and (Austin powers voice) "oh no I've gone cross eyed"
Supericee - He has that fire/flame on his collar. In retrospect it might not have been the best idea to make him a Genie-esk being (Accidental stereotyping, sorry) Luci - like with Negative it will take some time for evolution to give us anthropomorphic species, the trumpeter is because its a ancient form of communication and luci is the BVA's secretary Nasue - I remember him being a Dullahan (a type of spirit) so I went with another form of spirit based around there mask Ben - For the 2D to 3D aspect I went with cave-painting and ancient Sumerian statues. Winter - Her powers are ice based and one of the most powerful things in nature is winter so it seamed appropriate for the founder of the BVA
Lunar - Since her power is to be able to blend into whatever world she's in a Messenger God seamed fitting Chaoz - She? is a massive shadow person and my mind jumped to a horror game for whatever reason so the spawn of a unknowable being seamed appropriate Ebot - A prototype scout craft of whatever alien civilization is out there Sakura - She draws already existing character in sonic-style so having her summon spirits of animals felt right. also same tribe as Tiger because cat-girls.
