PERIL 🔥 !! i finally found a design for her i like yayyyy!!

she is constantly steaming and glowing around her core bc of the fire in her. in my design, the gradient is dark around her whole face and down her neck bc she is actually charred from the heat! the skywings are based off birds of pray for me, but the fluffed feathers on the back of their necks are burned off for peril! she's bald noooo!!

Last year I was lucky to get to work for the Our Saimaa Seal LIFE project, producing brochures among other PR related tasks. I was happy to get to use my hobby in it as well.

The first picture is a part of a bigger photo demonstrating a potential nesting place for a seal.

The Saimaa ringed seal is endemic to the Lake Saimaa in Finland, and is one of the most endangered seals in the world. In the winter they dig a burrow under the snow, where the females have their pups. Especially the mothers and the pups are vulnerable to disturbances caused by human activity. The mother visits its pup to nurse a few times a day, but any noise or disturbance may drive it away, disturbing the pup’s feeding rhythm and growth, which can have drastic effects on its survival of its first year.

People walking, skiing, tour skating or riding a snowmobile on the ice need to pay attention to shores, banks or capes where the seal might have their burrows. In addition to human activities, climate change threatens the survival of this seal, as they depend on a thick ice and snow cover.

Godzilla was born in fire and pain, never knowing any semblance of true compassion. He can’t understand why Mothra would choose to help him, nor does he see any reason to be anything but cruel to the world that scarred him. No matter what, he won’t let the world forget him. He won’t be the only one suffering.

Some close-ups. I chose to depict Mothra as more hazey and dreamlike, showing the disconnect between the two, and how Godzilla views her words as idealistic and unattainable. He brings her down to his level in the second piece, trying to force her to accept that his rage and pain is what’s true.

The demons in my head told me to draw this one.
