Honestly not to be traumatized on main but like. Using horror to heal is such a wonderful thing and I wanna talk abt it.

I can really only speak for myself so I'm gonna talk abt my experiences with it.

One of my most helpful coping mechanisms is playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Amnesia is known to be one of the scariest and fucked up games of its time, and still renowned as one of the best horror games. It dives into things like torture, manipulation, unrelenting nightmares, and reality itself falling apart due to a simple action. Yet playing this game and indulging in its story and its lore helps both distract and sort of heal from life when particular memories get bad.

I use weirdcore/liminal spaces/The Backrooms to cope with my derealization issues.

I use analog horror and the Trollge to help cope with my paranoia and fear of the unknown.

I use SCP to help with fear of institutions and anamolies otherwise unable to be explained.

I use FNaF to help with terrible memories. In fact, something my brain has taken to doing is defaulting into believing I'm Michael Afton to escape from flashbacks, phantom sensations, and other things that constantly remind me of my past ab//use.

I use slashers like Michael Myers and Mr. Voorhees for fear of people larger than me (which is a lot of people, Im a very small guy) and honestly they help me accept parts of me that I hate.

It sounds terrible on paper but a lot of people can actually relate to a lot of topics in horror. Its sort of a roundabout way to get that trauma and those memories out in the open and get them resolved, even if its temporarily. Because progress is still progress, no matter how miniscule.

Strangely enough, indulging in horror reminds me that I didn't deserve it, its not my fault, and I. Will. Get. Better. I will recover. And I think thats why a lot of people with trauma turn to horror. Because when everything was shitty and when they were scared the most, horror was a proper escape. It helped, and it continues to help.

I think a lot of people use horror as a coping mechanism and I think its something that people who aren't going through the trauma recovery process should be more open-minded about. I always get odd comments about using horror as coping mechanisms and I think people should be more widely accepting of seemingly unorthodox, but healthy, ways to cope. We all cope differently.

So... are we healing our trauma through ARG Horror and Analog Horror nowadays? Take The Walten Files, Local 58, and The Mandela Catalogue, for example.

I think horror has become one of the only safe and consumable space for catharsis: to expose, explore and heal our trauma.

Bain and Dallas have such interesting symmetry.

Dallas, a professional criminal, an established name in both the crime world and the civvy world. Clad in suit and tie, smokes cigarettes, likely enjoys alcohol on occasion. Brave, and a leader.

Bain, the "guy in the chair", unknown to most and known to few only as Bain. T-shirt and jeans, prefers to vape, probably drank bong water just to try it. Secretive, but incredibly intelligent.

Both are in their 40's, much past choosing a different career.

Dallas is well-dressed, and likely takes utmost care of himself. His hair is a marble of dark and light, the years evident on his face and in the grey of his locks. Keeps his facial hair and nails trimmed, makes an effort to style his hair.

Bain throws on whatever he can find quickly. His hands and lips are chapped, his hair is pitch black and probably greasy. Likely dyes his hair. Only trims his facial hair when it gets too inconvenient, and chews his nails regularly. Leaves his hair down, it's easier this way.

Nathan Steele would love to have a family one day, and cares for the other heisters diligently.

Bain is lonely. He lives alone, eats alone, and sleeps alone.

Dallas wears a mask, and Bain doesn't need one.

I just think they're neat.

Forgetting that neck radios are a thing and just thinking Soap is going into battle a little silly :3c

Okay the last post got me thinking so now yall gotta suffer with me.

Payday Gang but its who gets to go to the cookout/what they doin (Joy isnt included cause I main them so yeah, Joy's hosting)

Dallas- Yes. Honestly I feel like Dallas makes killer burgers so like he's cooking.

Wolf- Yeah, he's chill. He brings drinks.

Hoxton- Seems like a dick upon first glance but he seems really nice. Broke him out of jail and one of his lines was "Joy! I'm glad you could make it!" (Somethin like that, clover was screaming in the background). So yeah, he's allowed in. I think he also would bring drinks.

Chains- Yeah! He's also helping cook, since I feel like he's sort of the middle man between the people with no spice tolerance and Jiro.

Sokol- Absolutely he can. He sets up a game of street hockey and fucking floors everyone.

Dragan- Mans looked at Joy and rly said "You're getting a bit pudgy." I didnt take offense but also fuck you man. He can have a plate but I'm not talking to him

Bonnie- Honestly she was one of the first people to be invited. I think she brings like super high quality drinks and motts apple juice.

Jimmy- Also one of the first people invited. He contemplates bringing drugs but bakes instead and brings cupcakes or smth. Are they laced? Fuck around and find out.

Sydney- Helped plan it! She decorated the safehouse and set everything up.

Clover- She's part of the group of people who didnt originally want to go but saw how much effort was put into it and just went "mmmnyeh alright" and showed up. Brought napkins and silverware. It sounds like slacking but fr she came through when no one else did.

Houston- Bro listen I owe him. I think he brings beers and maybe like. Mac n cheese. Its rly good and everyone is all "Hey Houston good job" but he's sweating cause its just like six boxes of kraft mac.

Jacket- Also another one of the first people invited. He brings a box of casettes for the music. If anyone argues with his song choices I will physically fight them.

Rust- He wasn't gonna go but Jimmy was so fuckin annoying abt it that he just gave in and went. He also wasnt gonna bring anything but just grabbed a bottle of whiskey and called it good.

Wick- I would die for this man. I firmly believes he cooks in his spare time to destress after heists so yeah. He's one of those people that everyone thinks he cooks really bad but then he brings food and all of a sudden he's making lunch for the crew every other day.

Sangres- Yes he's invited this man is a true bro. I know its kinda stereotypical but trust me, Mexican family members actually do bring tequila and some sort of Mexican food, probably homemade tacos, to big gatherings. Sangres is also a really good cook but his spice tolerance is fucked so all of his food is really spicy.

Jiro- How could I not let my own father attend the cookout?? Jiro brings sake and some sort of Japanese dish. He's a lot like Sangres; makes really good but f u c k i n g s p i c y food.

Bodhi- Yes. This man goes all out and fucking brings a whole Costco supply of food.

Duke- This is the kind of guy I'd want at a party. He brings really fucking good alcohol but is also the designated driver. V v responsible, only small amounts of alcohol at a time.

Scarface- I dont know a lot abt this guy but he seems aight. This guy's a wild card atm so when i figure it out ill get back to you.

Bain- Literally got invited mid-heist becuase adhd is a bitch. Whether or not he actually shows is debatable, but I think he'd bring some pothead concotion like noodle sandwiches or some shit.

Vlad- YEAAAAAH! I love Vlad, honestly, he's awesome. I think this guy really plays into the Russian stereotype for shits and giggles and fuckin bring vodka and potatoes.

Locke- *stares motherfuckerdly* Youre on thin ice, fuckwad. I dont have a set reason for my hatred towards Locke, I just really dont like his vibes. I'll let him in but like Dragan, I wont talk to him.

The Butler- :D absolutely! I dont know what he would bring but honestly he could bring lsd and id trust him w my drink.

Horns

This on isn’t as deep at the wings. Horns are meant for one thing; defense. So, I’m looking at it from less of a functional standpoint and more of how I want them to look. I’ve messed with a few designs and I think I’m gonna settle for some ram horns. When in doubt always resort to ram.

Not to get real on my funny TES themed payday blog but Iunno, I feel like it.

So. Ive been pretty afk for a bit, heres why.

I moved!

I proceeded to get majorly hurt at work.

Thats mostly it.

I havent really felt good enough to post here. I posted a bit on a few of my sideblogs, which I made so I didnt feel weird about posting certain stuff here (seriously though if you can please go check those out, they're less shitpost-y and i put a lot of work into them, they're listed under the cut of my pinned post)

Then i proceeded to stop posting at all! I just havent felt like the stuff ive been drafting arent as good, so I think I'm gonna start slowly and work up to posting regularly again.

Im gonna post more Payday doodle so. Yeah!
