I think people don't take into consideration enough that Blitz likely struggles with chronic pain.
Stiffness, soreness, and an inability to handle textures or clothing types-we see Blitz either in oversized clothes or super skin tight clothes, nothing in between.
In other words, clothes that are so tight they can't rub, or clothes so big they're not going to. He likes soft things, like sweaters and hoodies, and seems to have a preference for very specific blankets.
The idea thay Blitz had to figure this all out on his own, with painful trial and error, discovering what hurts and what doesn't, what he can tolerate and what he can't. Stumbling over compression gloves by sheer accident, self medicating with booze and huge, soft sweaters on bad days, hurts my soul.
The idea that even Millie doesn't know, that bad pain days are just Blitz drunk again, fucked off in his apartment because he feels like it, or hung over and doesn't feel like coming in, with no one, not even Loona, realizing that every movement makes his skin feel rashy, raw, tight, painful-that his joints ache and his vision is blurry and his face hurts like someone's holding a flame to it.
It may have taken some time, but Blitz's biggest fear didn't come true in Mastermind. Even if Blitz died that day, on that chopping block, he would have died smiling knowing that he told his found family he loved them, and that his found family (and at least Millie) were there to see his final moments.
Y'all know what this means chat?
Blitz is going to fight tooth and nail to make this dream come true. The dream that he and Stolas could be healthy and happy enough to settle down with their girls and be an actual family.
now 2 beanie baby dragons are crossing your dash together :3
And it is done! I wrote a theory, I bought the merch and now I’ve buckled down and wrote a fanfic on the topic. May this obsession be appeased enough to leave me alone!
May everyone else enjoy my descent into madness.
Ever since season 2 concluded back in December, I’ve been rethinking Brandon Roger’s slip of the tongue about how Blitzø “ran” I.M.P. instead of “runs”. A lot of us were convinced that Mastermind was going to have Blitzø’s business being destroyed along with the building it was being run in. But then Sinsmas aired, and I.M.P. is still going strong.
But then that begs the question, was that earlier statement by Brandon just a slip of the tongue? Or were we given a hint to a future conflict/conclusion that takes place in a later season?
Personally, I think there’s still a chance that Blitzø is going to lose I.M.P. And my obsession with finding lore/future hints in Vivzie’s official merchandise turned a simple passing thought into a freakin full blown obsession that just won’t leave me alone. So of course I’m going to share the insanity.
This Halloween T-shirt’s art is what started it all.
Blitzø is dressed up as an angel, something that anyone from hell would consider as terrifying or monstrous. Perfectly in theme with Halloween while also being ironically hilarious to the audience.
But what if it’s more than that? What if it’s a possible hint about how Helluva Boss will end? What if Blitzø doesn’t lose I.M.P. or willingly retire and pass it on?
Helluva Boss could just as easily end with Blitzø’s death. But that doesn’t mean it’s actually “THE END” the end for Blitzø’s or even Helluva Boss’ story. Because Blitzø could be reincarnated as an angel, just like he’s dressed up as in the Halloween art.
After all, Vivzie is also famous for another show based in hell that focuses on redeeming those condemned to live in hell. And one of those sinners was even redeemed and made it into heaven after sacrificing himself for his loved ones.
This sounds exactly like something Blitzø would do. In fact, he’s already tried to sacrifice himself for his family once already, and I highly doubt he won’t do it again. Especially with Stolas in the picture being as apathetic of his own life as he is.
Now, we know little to nothing about how death affects hellborns, or if they even have souls that can die like a human’s from earth. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be a possibility! After all, ghosts might not exist in the Helluva Boss universe. But reincarnation hasn’t been taken off the table yet! And it would really add an interesting twist in the lore of the Helluva/Hazbin universe. Which would then be the perfect excuse to bring some Helluva Boss characters over into Hazbin Hotel.
Oh, and then there’s the full moon/heaven imagery to consider.
Heaven is the freaking moon in Helluva Boss! And Stolas has already visualized Blitzø as being unreachable in the glow of said moon…
So, maybe there is merit to the idea that Blitzø can be reincarnated into heaven. Thoughts?
I need to give some love to Loona in this episode. Specifically how she did not object to Stolas coming home with them.
Because she’s been in the exact same situation. Left alone, nowhere to go…
And then Blitz saved her.
So she paid that same kindness forward to Stolas.
By not asking any questions.
Just doing what she can to help.
Giving him a similar (edit oops) sweater she was wearing at the orphanage when she met Blitz.
Because she knows that no one, no matter who or what they are, should be alone.
People are treating what happened at Sinsmas as a complete role reversal between Stolas and Blitz, where Blitz is going to be the one chasing after Stolas, and Stolas pushing his advances away...
When the situation is a bit more nuanced than that...
Blitz and Stolas both don't have their masks up
The reason why Stolas had such a hard time in the season was because he had to take down those impenetrable walls Blitz put around himself. In that same vein, Stolas also had these walls up when he communicated with Blitz as well.
By the end of the season finale, those walls are down and these gentlemen are able to speak to each other face to face without keeping up a facade.
Blitz and Stolas are together 24/7 now
The reason why it was difficult for them to communicate before was because they were operating under the terms of their transactional agreement where their only excuse to meeting each other was during the nights of the full moon.
However, by the end of the season, both characters live and work together.
Blitz and Stolas have wildly different problems they have to overcome
Blitz, before, was not in the right headspace to give or receive love because he was still under the belief that his love hurts people and that he didn't deserve to be loved. Remember, one botched love confession literally mutilated his best friend, killed his mom, and destroyed the lives of his entire circus family.
The reason why Stolas isn't in the right headspace to give or receive love is because he's still processing his new way of life as a commoner, and the fact that his daughter doesn't want to see him. If anything, the main obstacle keeping these bozos apart now is Octavia.
Blitz and Stolas do love each other
Despite all the bullshit these men have put each other through, they both do genuinely have feelings for each other. However, Blitz knows that what Stolas needs right now isn't his love, but his support. And Blitz is happy with that because the only thing he wants to do right now is be there for Stolas.
When Blitz lost everything in the circus fire, he was alone with nobody to help him and guide him. However, when Stolas lost everything during the trial, he wasn't alone because Blitz was there to pick him back up.
Blitz doesn't know how to give up
While it is true that Stolas shuts Blitz out at this moment, Blitz doesn't give up and use that as a sign of rejection.
Instead, Blitz improvises by inviting Stolas to dance, and Stolas reciprocates.
If Stolas didn't want to dance with Blitz, he didn't have to, he could have just as easily shooed him away but he didn't. In fact, Stolas looks so happy to be invited to dance.
Blitz has this knack for getting Stolas to laugh, even in his most darkest days... so that helps too.
Blitz has a goal now
This is Blitz's endgame, his goal. Blitz wants to be at a place where he and Stolas could be happy and healthy, and live a life with their daughters by their side. He wants this, and Blitz is going to operate in a way to achieve it.
Because that is who Blitz is...
He is a tenacious bastard that doesn't know how to give up. He wanted to be his own boss, so he opened a business. He wanted an easy way to get to earth, so he fucked a Prince. He wanted a family, so he made his own eclectic one.
Blitz, despite the fact that he can be a complete asshole and an idiot, usually has a way of getting what he wants in the end.
I’ve been thinking about Barbie Wire a lot lately. So of course I can’t help but notice (and become absolutely obsessed with) the way her Asmodean Crystal differs from all the other ones we’ve seen so far.
Now granted, I may be overthinking things again and it’s just a matter of Barbie needing a different version of an Asmodean Crystal due to her being an imp that doesn’t have the magic needed to make a human disguise herself. Or it’s just a repurposed crystal that was stolen from one of Asmodeus’ workers and altered somehow.
But I REALLY like the idea that it’s actually an Asmodean Crystal knockoff made by another Sin.
Mammon in particular is already known for stealing the ideas of his fellow Sins for his own gain. Loo Loo Land being a cheap copy of Lucifer’s Lu Lu World being a prime example. I can easily believe Mammon would copy Asmodeus’ actually legal Asmodean Crystal with a “cheap” illegal version that unsavory businesses like Barbie’s would use to get to Earth when they usually couldn’t. And with Mammon holding a grudge against Asmodeus in particular over Fizzarolli quitting, he’d be more than willing to make knockoffs that could be blamed on Asmodeus since they’re Lust’s design and jurisdiction.
And that’s before even considering Leviathan!
Envy is notorious for generally being a sin portrayed as jealous of what others have and wanting it for themselves. Sometimes going so far as being portrayed as wanting to BECOME a different person altogether (think Fullmetal Alchemist). I can definitely see Leviathan as a sin of envy making knockoff Asmodean Crystals, but with her own spin on it to make it “better” somehow.
Or, maybe she’d even work with Mammon on making their own version. After all, Greed and Envy are pretty compatible sins, and that trial in Mastermind did reveal an interesting dynamic. I can definitely see them using each other for their own gains.
Worries unfounded, Stolas IS stronger than “Mastermind” led me to believe. I am SO freakin relieved right now!
Now I just need Stolas to not backpedal in season 3.
The amount of bad faith arguments from antis is utterly astounding. I just saw 2 different people argue that Blitz being fine with killing the mom in Murder Family and not the gay couple in Sinsmas was a sign of Vizzie being obsessed with gay people and hating women.
The entire story of Helluva Boss is Blitz coming to terms with his trauma and the ways that has shaped his relationships as an adult. That’s not even a B plot. That is literally the main story.
The show begins with him hiding his trauma behind bravado. He has lost his family and feels responsible. He adopts a daughter, but is afraid to place any boundaries on their relationship and trades away genuineness for surface level gifts and compliments.
He craves intimacy but is terrified of actually finding it. He fucks around with whoever he wants and crosses every boundary with M&M, constantly trying to insert himself into a successful relationship, without putting any effort into building one himself.
He’s determined to prove he’s not just a screw up, so he starts a business based around one of the few well paid jobs imps seem to be able to get in Pride (hired muscle), and he doesn’t think twice about whether the people he’s killing actually deserve it or not.
By the end of Apology Tour (though honestly it starts before this) he has realized that he doesn’t want to be like this forever. He doesn’t want to cut himself off from people. He wants genuine connection.
In Sinsmas, Blitz immediately clocks that the family they are about to kill bears a superficial resemblance to his and Stolas’s relationship. When he goes out for the job, he sees the future he wants, the same one he has only recently allowed himself to admit he wants, and yeah, it’s too much for him to go through with it.
It makes sense that a repressed Blitz firing on bravado and overconfidence would distance himself from his hits in episode 1. It makes sense that the more he opens himself up to being vulnerable, acknowledging his trauma, and finding genuine connection with loved ones, the harder that would be, especially when his own emotions are so new and so raw.
Yes, Blitz loved his mom and he’s not over what happened to her, but his coping mechanism is to push his emotions away and try to forget about all of that. He’s not trying to do that with Stolas in Sinsmas. In fact, he’s very notably trying to do the exact opposite, so of course his reaction to this hit would be different.
If you don’t understand that, you are (at best) not paying attention to the plot or (at worst) are willfully ignorant and intentionally trolling fans of this show because you have nothing better to do with your time.
My attention span is sporadic at the best of times or downright obsessive the rest of it. There is no in between. Once the obsession hits, there’s nothing else I’m gonna be talking, reading or writing about. So enjoy it while it lasts, cuz the obsession changes randomly. And regularly.
