I wonder how deeply the stereotype that it’s easy for trans men/mascs to pass is rooted in survivorship bias. I came out and started to transition long ago under the old WPATH standards, which demanded social transition prior to medical transition for trans men. My therapist directly told me that if I were a trans woman, she would have written the letter for HRT for me almost immediately; instead, I had to jump through hoops for years—I missed the window to gain significant height from T because of this. (Informed consent/DIY was not accessible to me; this is another discussion.) If I were not already a bit tall and butch by sheer luck, would I have been able to persist as a trans man? Would I have gone back into the closet, to some miserable end? Would I have lived at all? If I died, what name and pronouns would have been on the obituary? The 2015 US Trans Survey gets trotted out a lot—but one figure that always jumped out at me was the age graph from page 46. Look at how young the trans men skew—only 10% are 45 or older. (The non-binary category is of course even worse.) How different might that be, if things had truly been safer in the past for trans men?

i really love trans people. i love binding and tucking and packing and styling your hair the way you want and wearing gender affirming clothes and creating yourself from scratch. i love listening to trans voices, hanging out with trans people, singing trans songs until i'm out of breath, creating trans characters. transition is beautiful, seeing gender norms and saying no is beautiful, being unapologetically yourself is beautiful. i think being trans is genuinely amazing.
the trolley problem vs. systemic oppression: a comic.
And the leaks about how terf are creating a Moral panic keeps on coming!
trans people will literally go “i have a complicated relationship with my history with gender and sometimes see it as a gender i ‘used to be’ and i don’t really look like a cis person of either gender and i don’t think i can fit it into simple categories” and everyone will spontaneously combust

Interesting trend among transmascs & how terfs apply rhetoric to them that I've noticed:
If you are conventionally attractive and discuss taking hormones or getting surgery, terfs will lament that they can't keep losing beautiful women to the brainwashing of gender ideology and that you shouldn't transition because you're so beautiful and so good.
But if you're conventionally ugly and discuss taking hornones or getting surgery... terfs usually cut right to the "well you're just mentally ill and can't make decisions for yourself" or more immediately to the "well you just want to get ahead because being a woman is hard and difficult and being a man would be easier, gender traitor"
Why are pretty people afforded the "gentle*" rhetoric? Because terfs find them inherently more worth "saving" than the ugly people? Perhaps because terfs think that pretty people are inherently more "moral" and willing to listen to "reason?"
I just find it interesting that conventionally attractive people are treated differently than conventionally unattractive people. has anyone else noticed this? am i just crazy?
*this rhetoric is not gentle and is an act of violence against transmasculine people regardless of its intent. trying to detransition any transmasculine person for any reason that isn't that person's own desire to detransition is an act of violence.

PROTESTS ARE HAPPENING. THEY ARE JUST NOT BEING COVERED OUTSIDE OF LOCAL MEDIA OUTLETS. DO NOT RELY ON MAINSTREAM MEDIA.
There was a huge Trans-rights demonstration last night in New York outside of NYU Langone hospital in protest of their decision to halt gender-affirming care under Trump's order. (Source)
