hey everyone be careful

I don't know if anyone has talked about this, but lately this has been happening in other fandoms too. There'll be these bot accounts that straight up steals people's posts and adds "expand" "read more" "continue" as a link in the end of the post - DON'T CLICK ON THAT, it's most likely a malware or something of the like.

so if you see a post like this: no profile picture, something that looks reposted (I've seen this happening to artists too) and a link at the end, even if the post has tags, that's a bot. Block and report it.

stay safe, and I hope @staff finds a way to stop these bots soon!

current fan creation landscape is kinda like if you went to a party with a homemade cake and everyone takes a slice and silently thumbs up at you with no attempt to start a conversation except for occasionally some guy sits in the corner with a tape recorder critiquing the cake as though he was a restaurant critic and another guy is handing the cake to an uber driver like "yeah i need you to find a restaurant that makes cake like this so i can have more of it" and the only person that's talked to you in 30 minutes is a very sweet little guy who was like "hey i liked your cake" and then ran away apologizing for bothering you the moment you said thank you.

The First Big Bang Fandom Bangs are a longstanding fandom tradition, dating back to ye olden times of 2005 when the very first Big Bang was banged. That’s twenty years and counting! The original Bang, the “Big Bang, Baby Challenge”, was invitation only, focused on a particular ship (Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter) and the minimum word count was 50k. Other people thought this was a really neat idea, so they started organizing Bangs for their own fandoms. Why the Name? Originally, the title was meant to invoke the chemistry between the characters being shipped. Before long, people were reinterpreting the name for their own fandom events. Over time, it’s come to refer more commonly to the explosion of novel-length, illustrated fics that Big Bangs generate. Banging in the Modern Age Big Bangs today are a little different. They’re usually open invitation, and the minimum word counts are often much shorter. Our first year was only 10K, and this year we’re up to 20k!* In the end, the goal is the same: to create a massive influx of complete, illustrated longfics, which drop all at once with a BANG. *Mini-bangs have even smaller requirements, with participants creating a fic totalling a few thousand words, and artists illustrating one piece. **There are also Reverse Big Bangs, where artists create their pieces first, and writers base their fics off of them. Why Bang? Meet the community! Embrace the opportunity to become involved with the wider Transformers creative fandom. Collaborate! Make something fun and exciting together with new friends. This is a chance to expand your creative horizons. Challenge yourself! Write that long fic you’ve always been dreaming of. Draw something you might not have come up with on your own!

Last Year We did things a little differently. The TF Reverse Mini-Bang produced 99 fics and 152 artworks for the Transformers fandom, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. They’ll remain open for writers until March 2nd, and for artists and beta readers until March 16th. Our creation period will run nearly all year, until the posting dates in early November.
