this post was supposed to be a lighthearted post about aspec people by highlighting them in a joking way that still instills positivity and pride in the identity .
unfortunately too many people are too chronically online and media illiterate to realise that so let’s break down the post.
‘shout out to the people not having gay sex this pride month’
this was intentionally a worded to counter the ‘have lots of gay sex this pride month’ jokes and positivity that surround pride discussions. The wording directly associates with anti-queer activity and their frequent attempt to divert attention from queer people during the month of pride. it is worded intentionally. it is supposed to seem counter active to pride .
the humour is then seeing a pride flag. specifically the asexual flag- in which case this stands for an umbrella term across the aspec community which is more recognisable than the variety of aspec flags that i had seen whilst looking for a flag for this post . the grey line of the asexual flag stands for the spectrum between allosexual and asexual it represents the degrees of asexuality and in so, with the purple, stood for the aspec community in this post.
if the joke is still lost on you, the idea was to read a statement that counters the idea of queer pride and find it recontextualised to humorously represent an identity associated with the lack of sexual attraction; ergo no gay sex .
what this post is NOT, is a comment on varied asexual attraction. it us not a commentary on what makes a valid asexual person or whether or not you specifically will have sexual inter course this pride month . it is not saying asexuals are not allowed to have sex . this post is pushing any stereotype of asexuality . op is a sex having aspec person. i am demisexual . i have been with my partner for almost 2 years and engage in sexual activity .
what this post IS, is a joke. it’s a fucking joke i cant make it any clearer. not every single joke is going to relate to your own experiences and that’s ok. not every post about asexuality is going to relate to your own experiences that’s ok. you need to stop taking things at face value and actually engage in some media literacy to understand when something is a reductionist and stereotyping commentary which is inherently negative and when something uses a reductionist approach to convey humour because a lot of you really seem to be struggling with that one.
i fear a lot of you take yourselves too seriously and can’t find the humour in simple tumblr shitposts to the point where i’m having to actually explain what i thought was a very easy concept to grasp because it has upset a lot of people . stop taking everything so seriously .
if you are offended by the original post that is actually a you problem. that is something you have to work on where you cannot accept any form of lighthearted media that does not directly align with your own experiences . bc it’s not serious . it’s a joke x
also allo people can fuck off bc this is literally a post celebrating aspec ppl idc if your gf lives across the country or if you’re just a single loser this literally has nothing to do w u
yall make me want to kms for making me do this
a couple of free computer accessibility tools that come in handy for me that others might not know about:
HERE is firefox add-on that lets you add subtitles to any video. yes, this includes videos on shady piracy sites. this is not software that auto-generates captions, mind you; you will have to download subtitle (SRT) files from other websites. HERE is my go-to site to download srt files for tv shows, but there are other sites available if this one doesn't have the show/movie you are looking for
HERE is a piece of software that lets you map keyboard/mouse functions to a video game controller. makes gaming easier for some people like me who are missing fingers, have wrist problems, have fine motor issues, etc. and find using controllers to be easier than using standard mouse-and-keyboard controls. the site will give you a free trial of the software and later ask you to pay, but if you email them and tell them you have a disability, they'll give you the full software for free.
feel free to add more examples to this post!

just wanted to say, this is a safe space for any asexual and aromantic folks and anyone under these umbrella terms.
if you don't support aces/aros, demis or graysexuals please unfollow and leave me alone
This is just a reminder that not everybody experiences being aromantic and asexual the same. it's a spectrum for a reason.
Let's celebrate our differences and support each other whether we are sex-repulsed or sex-favourable.
Whether we are aromantic by definition or demi/greyromantic. (These are just a few examples)
We are all valid and beautiful in our own way.
reblog to scare the aphobes
Oh boy do I have some stories for you. Some are just experiences.
One- when I'm directly looking at someone, face to face, making eye contact and all I hear is "fhhdhdhskahakgdk" "What?" "fhdhsjsjdjjsjsk >:(" "What??????" "..." "OOOOH yeahhhh *insert topic here*". That happens way to often and I hate it.
Two- my mom will say "go do such and such" and I'm like, oh heck yeah I can do that, totally thinking "oh I understand what she said >:3". Time skip to when I'm done with the task and she's just like "...that is not what I told you to do". I just stare at her till she repeats the task and I'm like "oh. Mb lol."
Three- I physically can not have to conversations at once. This actually happened today. When I'm sitting in between two people, or I'm in a group, I have to make one person be quiet. I'll hush person #1, answer person #2, then go back to person #1 and answer them. People get mad at me for it but like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hello, I’m a graphic design student wit ADHD and APD and I’m planning to make a book about APD this semester. The basic idea is a mix of texts that explain symptoms, treatment, and how it gets diagnosed with little comics that show typical situations and experiences that a person with APD goes through.
That’s the part where you come in. I don’t know anyone else with APD and while the majority of the comics will be based on my own experiences, I did want to consult with some other people who suffer from the same disorder. So if you’ve got APD and you’re interested in telling me about your experiences and the funny, frustrating or whacky situations it has gotten you into, dm me or reply to this post, all stories included that aren’t my own will of course be credited.
I would appreciate the help and I also just want to talk to some people who can relate!

A searing pain flashed through Whumpee's body once again. These shocks were unpredictable. There was no timer, there was no "1... 2... 3...". It was a bolt of electricity, constantly sent out to keep them awake. Oh, how they longed for sleep, to feel peace in their mind and body, to no longer crave death.
They saw things... No, creatures. Creatures that skittered around the outside of their cage. There was the occasional rat, but Whumpee could swear they caught glimpses of something else lurking around them.
The ropes binding them down cut through their skin like butter. When was the last time they ate? Whumpee couldn't remember. They couldn't remember anything from their past life. Not their family, their friends, nothing.
Whumpee hung their head, having accepted their fate weeks ago. They wanted to die. Whumpee knew the creature outside their cage was real, and they would do anything possible to get It angry. Angry enough to kill Whumpee.
"H-hello..?" Whumpee's eyes opened in surprise. Their voice didn't sound like theirs anymore. What used to be a light, airy sound was now a low, gravelly, weary voice. "Ple-" A racking cough cut off their next sentence. They couldn't stop coughing. A few minutes passed before Whumpee finally finished their coughing fit.
Their lungs screamed in pain, their mouth filling with the familiar taste of blood. Whumpee stared into the shadows, willing anything to come out and kill them.
"Please..." Whumpee whispered. "Kill me. End- end my suffering."
Tears Whumpee didn't know they had began to fall down their face. One after another, never stopping.
Drip, drip, drip.
Whumpee's tears hit the stone floor. All they could hear were their racking sobs. They didn't hear It slowly creep closer to them.
"My dear child..."
Whumpee's head shot up in surprise. Standing in front of them stood a black, lanky creature. It looked to be 9ft (2m) tall, with long arms that ended in claws.
"My child..." It whispered again. Whumpee couldn't pin point where the voice was coming from. It had no face, so how were they able to hear it?
"I never wanted this for you. To be locked up here like an animal." It slowly began to reach out It's clawed fingers towards Whumpee. "You were supposed to be up above, enjoying the sunshine, the breeze, walking through the woods. You were never meant to be here."
Whumpee started crying again. They felt like they should be afraid. That they should be recoiling from It's extended fingers. But... Why did they feel comforted? It's voice sounded like a mother's. One full of love and comfort and security.
"Please..." Whumpee begged. "You can do something about this. I know you can!"
Though It had no face, Whumpee sensed It’s sadness.
"There still is a chance for you to escape," It pleaded with them.
"No, there isn't. And you know it." The two of them stared into each other's eyes for what felt like an entirety before, slowly, It put It's hands on their face.
"Are you s-". It was caught off by Whumpee.
"Im positive."
With a nod, It dipped It's face towards Whumpee's. Whumpee shut their eyes, but could still feel a wet goo encase their head. It felt like heaven.
For the first time in weeks, Whumpee felt okay. A feeling of tranquility passed through them. Their body didn't hurt anymore. Their mind wasn't screaming in agony. Whumpee felt peace.
Another week goes by, and Whumpee's body lay decaying on the stone floor. The police had located were Whumpee was, but they were too late. A forensic team came and collect their body, and the police called this a natural death.
One police man though, felt a connection to the place. He felt drawn to it. After closing down the area, he stayed behind to "investigate" further. In reality, his mind lost all control of itself. Now under another's control, the police man walked himself to the cell where Whumpee was found. He tied himself up, still unaware of what he was doing. In the distance though, he could swear he saw a shadow pass by.
CW: captivity.
The whumpee cowered in the corner of the damp, cold room, shivering in their rope bindings. Their eyes struggled to adjust to the dark, playing tricks on them as shadows moved at the edge of their vision.
Or… was there actually something watching them?
