*ೃ༄ Kanata Shinkai + [MASSAGE] : with their hands buried in the receiver’s hair, the sender begins to gently massage their scalp.

With a hefty sigh, you felt Kanata sink further into your lap, affectionately nuzzling your thighs with his cheek, adorning a blissful shade of peach on either side of his face. His eyelids had long since fluttered shut, but you could tell that he was the furthest thing from asleep.

It had been at least a half hour since he weaseled his way into your lap atop his dorm bed, and you wondered if his work had been draining him far more than usual recently. Of course, he loved to splay across your lap regardless of his mood, but he seemed rather exhausted this week — today specifically.

You knew that he’d never penalize you for worrying about him, but you also knew he’d likely brush it off, claiming that there’s no need to worry about him, and that all was well. So for the time being, you’d resign yourself to your position beneath his head, leaning back against the plush pillows that decorated his bed.

Kanata lazily rolled over to face you, bringing a hand to rest upon your thigh. “This is nice…” He whispered, his lips curling upwards into a fond smile, softly pecking at the skin of your leg. “Ahh… ‘laying’ in your lap is very relaxing, you know?” His eyes remained closed, and you could hear the soft chuckles rattling in his chest.

“I’m glad you think so.” You answered, mindlessly carding your fingers through his soft blue locks, smiling to yourself when he hummed affectionately at your actions. It was easy to forget about the rest of the world outside of this dorm when he was this close to you, when he was trusting you enough to be vulnerable like this.

He peeped an eye open at you, and you took the opportunity to ask your long-awaited question. “Are you tired?”

Kanata peered up at you amusingly, a light green eye looking directly into your own. “Today was tiring, but now that you’re here, I feel good as ‘new’, so it’s okay, I’m alright.”

You nodded. “Hm, okay then. But just for the record, you still seem a little tired, Kanata.” You awaited a response, ten seconds, twenty seconds, but it never came. “It’s okay if you wanna take a nap.”

A quiet sigh escaped from your lips. “You haven’t been getting enough sleep, have you?” Once more, he failed to reply. “It’s okay, I’m not mad. I just want you to take care of yourself.”

The man in your lap smiled at your words, and he slowly reached for your face, caressing your cheek with the soft tips of his fingers. “I wonder if you understand how ‘kind’ you are. Thank you.”

You silently wondered if he could feel the subtle heat radiating off of your cheeks.

Your fingertips once again found purchase between the cyan of his hair, gently rubbing and scratching at his scalp — softly trying to erase any tension and stress that had been lingering. “There’s no need to thank me. You look out for me just as much as I look out for you.”

He shivered, goosebumps raising across his neck and arms, and he allowed his eyes to close once more. “I see. I will always look out for you…” He insisted, his voice fading into nothingness, and his hand finding its place back on your thigh as his exhaustion started to get the best of him.

“I know you will.” You whispered, quietly leaning down to place a kiss on his forehead, another on his cheek, and a final, gentle one on his lips. “And I, you.”

As your fingers continued to massage his scalp, you rested your eyes. Of course, his roommates would be back eventually, but you had a feeling that they’d let you both sleep. The two had never been unkind to you in the past, after all.

You sank further into Kanata’s pillows, and with two sleepy, soft giggles, you wordlessly said your I love you’s.

"..." your body was gently carried out of the dark sea, not very hard to find you considering all you did was plunge down into the water. rin's body was numb, he couldn't control his limbs, he fell down. sae tried to dash over to your cold body but the authorities stopped him and told him to back away. never has he ever felt so desperate, such want for something. but.. don't you look a little weird? your clothes were tattered, rashes and bruises were placed all over your body, it was like you were abandoned on the streets. "i thought you were looking after them" rin stated - not questioning, just a statement. "isn't it the other way around?" sae replied back, wanting to push the blame onto rin. there was no way this had happened. he refused to admit that his lack of attention to you caused this. it had to be someone, rin maybe. "there's no point in being the best at something, if you cannot bested your feelings" rin spat out, pushing the blame back. sae is the oldest, right? he should have taken care of you. both of them stared at each other's gazes you were playing water with them, with cool floaties the blame wasn't pushed anymore, it was divided within their hearts you went to get a hot chocolate with marshmellows, rin and sae having energy drinks the blame was so heavy they felt the sting, feeling the coldness of your body on their faces you went home with sae and rin, hand in hand

sae and rin never recovered. the nights were as cold as a dead body. sometimes sae cried and cried, rin suddenly sharing a room with his brother again, cried too - never stopped until the morning where the sun rises and dries off the water. was this also how you felt? texts were answered years later but no responses. "i thought you were looking after them." "i thought i did enough." "what if-" "there are no what ifs anymore." silence followed. then sniffles and tears.

your room collected dust overtime, the curtains covering up your window perfectly - to block off any nosy people. sae sometimes goes inside your room, sits on the floor. rin would silently knock on the door, hoping someone would open it. sometimes, rin would find sae sitting on the floor and joins him too - as they dream of another day

a/n : for further explanation - reader was abandoned by their parents and they left reader alone, thus why eat drink and wear the same thing. they were in a state of delusion and their legs instinctively took them to the sea where they often gazed with sae and rin. even at their last moments they really loved sae and rin so ya & i found a nice discord username finally omg im happy w this one

atsumu shook his head, a muffled sound escaping as he buried his face in your back, his arms ensnaring you in an embrace. a small smile played on your lips. "why not?" you asked, even though you might have an inkling as to why. you've noticed that this is the umpteenth time he's skipped a party to spend time with you, a pattern that began when you started dating.

he groaned. "dont wanna," atsumu replied, tightening his hold around your torso. you chuckled, continuing to type on your laptop while perched on atsumu's lap, from which you couldn't escape. "you'll get bored hanging out with me, you know?" a hum was your reply, followed by the sensation of his breath on the back of your neck. "mm, no, I won't," atsumu murmured, planting a kiss on your skin and savoring your warmth.

"i want to be close to ya," atsumu's words sent your heart soaring, and a wide grin spread across your face. you shifted, turning to face him as you wrapped an arm around him, stroking his hair. "tsumu's being clingy today, isn't he?" you teased, a playful tone in your voice as atsumu whined when you ruffled his hair. "shaddup," he shot back, but a concealed smile betrayed his pretended irritation. he looked into your eyes as you caressed his hair tenderly, which you met with a smile.

atsumu couldn't help himself. he grinned mischievously, leaning further into you as he tightened his embrace, eliciting a whine from you. oh, how he wished this moment could last forever.

you chuckle softly, feeling the warmth of his embrace. “you’re such a softie, tsumu,” you murmur, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead.

atsumu’s cheeks flush slightly, but he doesn’t let go. “only for you,” he mumbles, his voice barely above a whisper.

you smile, feeling a surge of affection for the boy who had somehow wormed his way into your heart. “well, im glad you’re here,” you say, your fingers tracing soothing patterns on his back. “but I really do need to finish this paper.”

atsumu sighs dramatically, but there’s a playful glint in his eyes. “fine, fine. I’ll let ya work. but only if ya promise to take a break soon and spend some time with me.”

you laugh, nodding. “deal. now, be a good pillow and stay still.”

he grins, settling in more comfortably. “anything for you, babe.”

as you continue typing, you can’t help but feel a sense of contentment. despite his frat boy reputation, atsumu had a way of making you feel cherished and loved. and in moments like these, you realized just how lucky you were to have him by your side.
