ik ur in ur reo phase BUT HEAR ME OUT EARTH ONLY YOU CAN DO THIS
rin ACCIDENTALLY publicizing ur relationship bec mf got jealous as hell when ur face appeared in the kiss cam IN HIS GAME??????? WITH A RANDOM GUY AND WAS HE FUMING??? YOU AND I KNOW HE WAS THROWIN HANDS
thats all
I'M HEARING YOU OUT. warning for unrealistic scenario, i wrote this in like 20 minutes so it's unedited :p apologies for any mistakes.
imagine being rin's secret partner, the one he keeps behind closed doors because he values you too much to let the invasive eyes of the internet see. he values your relationship too much to let it get tarnished by social media, so he hides any affiliation with you like his life depends on it, only to come home and shower you with the adoration and affection he wishes he could show to the rest of the world.
in the spotlight, he is itoshi rin, japan's prized striker, their golden player, but when he's out of the spotlight, he is your lover. the man who drapes himself over you when things get too rough and he needs a breather. he is yours to cherish, where you have to change your phone wallpaper every other week because there's so many good photos of you two. he is yours to love, he is yours to go to when you feel too lonely, he is yours.
but also imagine, itoshi rin's jealousy and possessiveness no longer being able to rest at bay. it'd been accumulating for the past few weeks, this desire to show you off and boast that it's him who gets to know you like no other.
then the cup overfills, his jealousy tearing him by the seams that he loosely stitched together to withhold this carnal beast resting within him.
all because of a damn kiss cam.
you had been sitting in the vip section of the stadium- where special members are granted tickets, and even though you tell rin that it's fine for you to just sit in the general area, he refuses and tells you that he's bought you the ticket anyway. leaving you with no room for arguments. well. not that there was any to begin with.
anyways, you'd just so happen to sit next to someone who bought vip tickets with no affiliation with any blue lock members. you think he's just a die hard fan, so when he asks you if you like them, you lie and say that you won these tickets at a raffle.
the guy wasn't the most favourable person ever, in fact, you found yourself awkwardly responding to what he was saying, sometimes giving him short and succinct replies because of how... weird... he was. not to be disrespectful but you did not like his vibes. you just hope these 90 minutes can be over quickly.
yeah well, how funny is it that the kiss cam lands on you and the insufferable guy beside you?
you're mortified when you see it on the screen but the person beside you doesn't warrant the same reaction. immediately, he turns to face you, anticipation heavy on his features. in fact, he looks rather... excited...
"no, no, i have a boyfriend, i-" you begin abruptly as he leans in and you have no choice but to helplessly lean back, evading his lips and delaying it as much as you can. you even try rejecting him by frantically waving your hands, panicked and unsure of what to do.
until you hear him.
"back. the. fuck. off!" comes a shout from the pitch; the voice very familiar to your ears that you can't help but instantly relax from hearing it.
your seat was relatively close to the field which meant that those around you could hear the distinct voice of itoshi rin ripping through the air, fury evident and baring its fangs as he all but punches the barrier with each word.
however, everyone in the stadium could see itoshi rin as all cameras pan to him, witnessing his wrath as he shouts from the top of his voice. everyone around you is silent and you don't know whether you want to shrivel up into the ground or run to him and embrace him as tightly as you can. to find sanctuary in his warmth, away from the pushy guy who can't wrap his head around the idea that no means no.
itoshi rin decides for you, effortlessly jumping over the (considerably high???) barrier and making a beeline for you, skipping some stairs. thank goodness for a side seat because he comes to a stop before you, adrenaline still coursing through his veins as he looks at you with heated passion, huffing and puffing.
"rin?" you whisper. he doesn't hear it, looking up at the various stadium screens to see if the kiss cams were still on you. smirking in satisfaction when he realises they are, rin all but pulls you up from your seat and kisses you with so much intensity and fervour that you feel lightheaded. very much so.
the stadium is cheering but you can't focus on it, not when rin's holding you to him so closely, practically trying to meld you to him. not even trying to push him away is enough to snap him out of whatever primal instinct has taken over him, so you grab his face and jerk away from him, not wanting to get too carried away.
before you can utter a word, rin looks behind you, and the coldness in his expression says everything you need to know.
he doesn’t care about dignity at this point. he just needed the world to know that you were his.
"you're dead if you try that again, you lukewarm fuckface," he then turns to you. you shiver from the intensity of his gaze. "i'll kill him next time," he promises before hugging you close to him once again, practically glaring at the cameras. "i'll kill anyone who tries to get to close."
THANK YOU FOR THIS ANON would u believe me if i said i'd been waiting for an opportunity like this? well i'm speaking the truth and i'm so glad u gave me the opportunity i've been waiting for AYEEEEEEE COME BACK ANY TIME YOU ARE SO WELCOME ON THE EARTHTOOZ BLOG, PRETTY <33

♡ gn! Reader X Sae Itoshi
♡ Warnings: sickness, hospital, nickname (love)
♡ Summary: Sae is abroad, when he receives a call that your fever has landed you in the hospital
This was probably the worst time possible to catch the flu, your boyfriend, Itoshi Sae, is thousands of kilometers away, back in Spain for a football match while you're barely able to move with the constant ache in your joints.
Everything hurts, your nose is clogged, making it almost impossible to take proper breaths, and your body is constantly changing in-between feeling scalding hot and ice-cold. Your fever had been steadily rising throughout the day, and the medicine you took in the morning doesn't seem to be helping at all. You'd do anything to be in Sae's embrace right now, to be comforted by him, to be held by him.
But you know how he is, focused on becoming the player in the world and probably training non-stop to prepare for the upcoming match. You don't want to call Sae and distract him from his tight schedule, maybe even risking him coming back and skipping the match. You don't want to be a bother to Sae, you don't want to burden him.
Once evening arrives everything seems to worsen, you suddenly don't even have enough energy to get out of bed anymore, sweating profusely while panicking about what's happening to you. You're scared.
"You should've called me sooner, you don't look well y/n" your friend says as she sits down on the edge of your bed, the back of her hand carefully placed against your hot forehead. "Your fever is worrying me."
"I'm sorry... I didn't want to bother you..." You mutter quietly, voice hoarse.
"I'm guessing Sae doesn't know anything about this either." You shake your head in response, the action causing your neck to ache. Your friend huffs, "Y/N, I know you don't want to distract him while he's abroad and training, but I bet he would be pretty upset if he knew that you're keeping the fact you're sick from him."
You frown, hands playing with the hem of your fluffy comforter. "I just know he's really busy and also kinda stressed right now, I don't wanna add to that with my issues..."
"Oh, sweetie, I'm sure he wouldn't mind it. But let's focus on getting you back to health for now." Lovingly, she combs a hand through your sweaty hair, and unconsciously you lean into the loving touch you've been longing for since waking up and feeling under the weather.
"Your temperature is at 40°, we need to get you to a doctor, like immediately."
"I'm fine, besides all doctor's offices are closed now, don't worry about it, I'll just sleep it off." You say with a little shake of your hand, but it's even an immense struggle to lift your arm.
"You're burning up and can barely breathe, please don't be ridiculous." You can see the worry in her eyes. "I'm driving you to the hospital. No arguing, can you get up?" Of course not, she realizes that the question is redundant, and opts for just carrying you. All of your protests and feeble attempts to reassure her that you're fine fall on deaf ears as you both sit in your friend's car.
You don't remember much of what happened after arriving at the hospital, exhausted and mind in a haze, being examined by doctors, hooked up to monitors and having to stay the night, being placed in a room that's so white it makes your eyes burn, that's all you remember before falling into a deep slumber.
Sae is beyond exhausted when he finally sets foot into the hospital room, a steady rhythm of beeps greets him and for a moment he just stares at your unconscious figure lying in the white hospital bed before he makes his way over to the plastic chair right next to it. Quietly he groans, stretching out his tired limbs, he's been cramped up in a plane seat for hours, taking the quickest flight home he could find, driven by worry, being able to think about nothing but how you're doing.
Carefully he takes your hand in his, it's much colder than usual, he notes. Gently, his other hand caresses your cheek, taking in your features, looking so peaceful in your sleep. Worry swirls in Sae's stomach, sure he's seen you sick before in your years of being in a relationship, but never has it landed you in the hospital. And on top of that, he knows that you never admit how bad you're actually feeling, always reassuring him that the pain isn't too bad when you injured yourself and never wanting to bother him with your worries and problems. Sure, Sae has a lot on his plate, but it's never too much to not have time to care about you anymore, Sae will always make time for you.
You groan quietly, eyes blinking open, temporarily blinded by the bright white lights. A warm hand is tightly holding onto yours, and you can tell just by the feel of the calloused thumb brushing against the back of your hand who it belongs to.
"Sae?" Your vision's still blurry, but you don't need to see, to know that it's your boyfriend who's sitting right next to you.
"Hey love." He says softly, thumb brushing against your cheek, face feeling much cooler compared to a few hours ago.
"Are you real?"
Sae snorts silently, "Yeah, I am."
The sleepy haze is completely gone now, mind solely focused on the fact that he should not be here with you right now. He should be thousands of kilometers away to prepare for his match. "B-but you're supposed to be in Spain!" You exclaim, while trying to sit up.
Gently, Sae pushes you back onto the pillow, "You shouldn't strain your body, don't waste your energy on this." You frown in response, the way your eyebrows knit together oh so cute in Sae's opinion. "I came back as soon as Ayaka called and told me she brought you to the hospital. I was worried like crazy and took the first flight home and immediately came here."
Now that he's saying it, you notice how tired Sae looks, eye bags very apparent and hair a bit disheveled. He's still wearing his black sweatpants, and pullover from practice, not having taken the time to change.
"I'm so sorry, Sae..." You mutter, now too ashamed to meet his emerald eyes.
"No, don't be. I'm not gonna let you feel guilty about this."
"But you're going to miss the match." You protest, and he shakes his head, letting out a sigh.
"So what, you're more important! One match won't make or break my career, besides, I wouldn't have been able to focus on soccer anyway while knowing you're in the hospital."
"That's why I didn't want you to know, so you don't get distracted."
Sae exhales loudly, "Don't say that, you're not a distraction...well maybe, but in a good way, but that's beside the point." You can tell that Sae's struggling to convey his emotions, your thumb softly stroking his as reassurance to keep going. "You're incredibly important to me, so I don't care about flying back here at the ass crack of dawn, missing the game or not getting any sleep. I just wish you would've told me. I know you would be pretty upset if I would do the same. You're not burdening me, because I love you, and when I tell you, I was worried out of my mind. Now move over."
Sae takes off his shoes and then lies down next to you, pulling you against his side, careful with the cables and iv connecting to you. Your head rests on his toned chest, his arm holding you close to his body, Sae's comforting warmth engulfing you.
"I'm really glad you're here, I missed you."
Sae hums in response, hugging you even closer, "I missed you too, a lot."
His warmth seeps into every crevice of your body, and you feel whole again, maybe it's the painkillers they gave you, or maybe it's Sae's comforting embrace, but suddenly the uncomfortable ache in your joints is gone, the pain replaced with a feeling of contentment.
Sae makes sure you have everything that you might need during your stay in the hospital, he brings you some of his clothes to wear (he claims they are more comfortable than yours), books, and your tablet, so you can keep yourself entertained and even your favorite snacks. He disregards all worries of getting sick himself and simply focuses on being there for you, on comforting you.
A/N: Ahhh thank you for the request anon!! You're so sweet, I'm glad you like my writing <3 The way I literally have thought about this scenario in the past-
I really love the idea of Sae just dropping everything to be with his s/o when they need him
He's a soft boy, he would do that, I just know it <3

pairing. itoshi rin x gn!reader
summary. it's valentine's day and you're determined to tell rin about your feelings for him. however, that proves to be a little difficult after watching him reject everyone who beats you to it.
content warnings. 3.5k wc, college au, fluff, thoughts of unrequited feelings.
this is an unusual level of antsy. your leg doesn't usually bounce up and down so restlessly as you wait for your bus. you don't usually nervously nibble away at your nails. and your eyes don't usually dart over your shoulder in search of a certain someone. how silly, you think as you center your gaze ahead and tuck your hands under your thighs to resist ruining your nails any further. you're a jittery mess and all because it's valentine's day.
normally, that fact wouldn't mean much to you. in past years, you'd either let the day pass like any other or spend it with your partner if you had one at the time. but things in your life are different than they've been every other time the holiday came around—one of those things being a person. someone who isn't your boyfriend but you've started seeing as more than a friend. someone who, despite putting in no effort whatsoever, is wildly popular with everyone, especially the ladies, on your campus. someone whose name is itoshi rin.
every other day of the year, all three hundred and sixty-four of them, you're more than able to bury your feelings—ignore the crush and live life as though you aren't slowly falling for one of your closest friends. but you have a feeling doing that much will be difficult today.
after all, who would want to spend the day watching the guy they like get confessed to for hours on end?
you really have no right to be jealous—not when you still haven't found the courage to confess to him yourself. but the mere thought of idly standing by and watching these girls do something you can't has been making you feel a bit nauseous all morning. it's not as petty as it sounds, you're just not sure how confident you are in your abilities to keep your feelings hidden given the circumstances. the thought of slipping up and accidentally coming clean about your crush just to be thrown into the pile of everyone else he's rejected is a sickening one. you're just hoping that he doesn't see through you, that your mask can stay on long enough to keep him in the dark—at least until you're ready to tell him on your own terms.
your eyebrows furrow as you think about how long this day is going to be.
"hey." a voice from above you cuts through the air and pulls you out of your head. it's his voice.
"oh!" your shoulders jerk up in surprise as you turn to face the man. he's standing a foot away from you, hands stuffed in his pockets, strands of dark hair blown out of place by the wind. teal irises framed by thick lashes meet your gaze with an unwavering stare. you clear your throat and paint on a smile. "good morning, rin."
he hums, eyes dropping from your face to your leg that has yet to stop bouncing. "you okay?"
you frown in silent confusion at his question. he can read you perfectly and points to your leg to clarify.
you follow the path of his finger to the only physical sign of your jitters. you bite your cheek and consciously hold your foot against the sidewalk. so much for trying to hide your nerves. you spit out the first excuse that comes to mind. "i'm fine. just a little chilly, i guess."
"here." rin pulls his hand out of his pocket and holds out his arm, offering you the jacket hanging from it. it's the one he brings to class every day, one that everyone would recognize as his. that fact makes you hesitate taking it—people would get the wrong idea.
but, maybe that would deter those girls from approaching him...
you shake the selfish thought from your head. since when did you get so possessive—and over a man who isn't yours, at that? you're almost tempted to turn him down just to prove to yourself that you aren't some crazy jealous person, but you know that rin won't let you walk away without it. you stand up and take the zip up from him. "thank you."
setting your backpack in the seat you'd just abandoned, you shrug the sleeves over your shoulders. you were just trying to distract him when you said you were cold, but you'd be lying if you said being wrapped in his jacket didn't warm you up.
downplaying your feelings today is going to be easier said than done.
the nerves hit again when the two of you arrive on campus. there's a palpable aura surrounding the campus, one of hope and love and everything that embodies the holiday. if it were visible, the air around you would be tinted pink and red.
your uneasiness is only amplified when you catch sight of her—the girl approaching you, no, rin, with a box held carefully in her hands. there's a nervous skip in your heartbeat as you turn your eyes to the ground in an attempt to avoid the awkwardness. you focus on the footsteps and chatter of passersby to drown out the conversation taking place beside you, but you're still able to pick out some of the words; rin's gentle but firm rejection and the girl's disappointed and defeated goodbye.
you weren't rooting for her, but watching her walk away with her head hung makes you feel bad. that could just as easily have been you.
"forgot it was valentine's day," rin mumbles to himself. the day has never meant much to him in the past and in the interest of not leading anyone on, he's always declined the chocolates presented to him. most people don't think of him as the type to care about the feelings of others, but giving someone false hope is cruel. there's no reason this year should be any different.
he runs a hand through his windswept hair, though the strands just fall back onto his forehead. he turns to his right where you're standing, your fingers clumsily toying with the straps of your backpack, what he thinks is a pitiful smile tugging at your lips. "what?" he asks.
"i don't know." you shrug. "i guess i just feel sorry for her. no one wants to get turned down by the guy they like."
"yeah, well, there's no guarantee they'll feel the same way," rin counters, nodding his head in the direction of your class building. you're sure they aren't directed at you, but the words sting—enough to cement your feet to the ground as rin starts on the way to your first shared class. it takes you a moment to will yourself to move, to fall into step beside him. the statement is a little harsh, but he's right. you know he is because it's the exact reason you're so reluctant to tell him about your feelings.
what if he doesn't feel the same?
"hey." you turn to him with wide eyes. did he catch on? you're almost sure he's going to question you about your strange behavior when he speaks up but, thankfully, he doesn't. "if anyone asks you to play messenger, just tell them i'm not interested."
you're tempted to laugh at that. no girl is going to see you turning them away on rin's behalf as anything less than sabotage. despite your skepticism that any of those potential encounters will bode over well, you nod. "got it."
the next proclamation of love isn't as direct; when the two of you make it to your first class of the day, there's a box sitting on the table you and rin regularly sit at. the envelope stuck under the ribbon tied in a neat bow has his name written across the front. you take a seat and silently wonder what he'll do. it's not like he can turn them down like this.
you're proven wrong when rin picks up the box and walks it to the front of the room, dropping it in the trash can. the action stirs up murmurs of disbelief as rin makes his way back to your table. you keep your eyes down in hopes of not seeing the face of the girl whose heart just shattered.
you think about each unfavorable interaction as you aimlessly wander the expanse of the courtyard. the fresh air was supposed to keep you from dwelling on things but your mind isn't so keen on giving you a break. it has to be because you went into today determined to do the same. every rejection you witness makes you reconsider your decision but you know you have to tell him today. if you don't, you're not sure you'll ever tell rin how you feel.
a sigh that resembles more of a pained groan pushes past your lips as you run a hand over your hair. maybe you should have skipped class today. you'd still be a nervous mess when you finally presented rin with the dumb little heart-shaped box you bought, but at least you wouldn't be replaying the worst-case scenario in your head as you did so.
you squeeze your eyes shut and shake your head. time travel isn't possible and you can't change the past. the only thing you can do now is charge forward.
when you open your eyes, there's someone walking towards you. a girl. unsurprisingly, she's got a box in her hands. you bite the inside of your cheek. you were really hoping you wouldn't have to deal with this.
the girl stops a few steps in front of you. despite the boldness in her approach, one that told you she recognized you, she still asks, "you're friends with rin, right?"
"uh, yeah."
"could you give these to him for me?" she asks. you remember rin's words and are a second from repeating them when the girl all but shoves the box into your hands, turning on her heel and rushing back the way she came.
mouth agape and hands heavy, you watch as she leaves. her figure is out of sight when you force your gaze down to the box. you bet its contents are just like those of the ones you put in your fridge last night. what are you supposed to do? throw them away as carelessly as rin had earlier?
"hey there." a voice sounds from behind you. you look over your shoulder to see who's addressing you and you're met with a matching set of cyan hair and eyes—hiori.
"ooh, chocolates." he points to the box in your hands as he comes to stand in front of you. "confessing to someone? rin maybe?"
"what? how did you-" you stop yourself from finishing that question. there's no way he could know. you haven't spoken a word to him about your feelings for rin. he's just assuming, nothing more. "no! what makes you think that?"
he shrugs, eyebrows raised at your adamant denial. "you haven't told me about any other guys in your life. so it's either rin or... oh my god. are you planning on confessing to me?"
"real funny." you gently nudge his ribs with your elbow but you can't fight the smile making its way onto your face. hiori breathes out a laugh and lightheartedly pats the top of your head. he has no idea how much you appreciate the much-needed, albeit short distraction.
hiori's eyes look past you. "hey rin."
you turn at the mention of his name to find him standing not far behind you. you offer him a smile but he doesn't return it. instead, his gaze falls to the box in your hands before they drag up to hiori and finally turn to you.
"are you ready to go?" he asks.
"yeah," you draw out the vowel, surprised at rin's unusual coldness toward hiori. you turn to the latter to say goodbye. "see you tomorrow."
hiori sends you off with a wave. the blue-haired boy watches your retreating figures with a playful shake of his head. he clicks his tongue as he starts on his way to his next class. "idiots."
"didn't know you liked hiori," rin speaks up from beside you, his eyes never straying from their focus forward. he's not sure why it took him the entire walk to the bus stop to broach the subject. maybe the strained silence was finally getting to him.
"i don't," you tell him. is that why he was so short with hiori? he's one of the few people rin gets along with. to see him practically ignore him was strange, to say the least.
"actually, these were meant for you." you hold the box up in the space between the two of you. "she handed them to me before i could say anything."
rin takes the box from your hold and slips it through the slot of the nearby garbage can. hearing the chocolates hit the rest of the trash almost makes you flinch. you uncomfortably laugh before asking, "do you really have to throw them away? isn't that a little harsh?"
"what else am i supposed to do with them?" accepting them in any way is an acknowledgment of their feelings and regifting them is out of the question. he wants to ask why you care so much but he already has an idea. you've always been more sympathetic than him. "i told you, i can't help that i don't feel the same."
rin's right. he has as little control over his feelings as you do over yours. you can't expect him to reciprocate, not the feelings of those girls and not yours. it's a hard truth to accept but one you'll have to if you plan on going through tonight. the sooner you do, the easier it'll be.
"i get it," you breathe out and nod, more to convince yourself than anything. you're sure rin won't press the matter, but the arrival of the bus fills you with relief.
you spend the ride watching the passing scenery and steeling yourself for the evening to come.
there's a shared path you walk with rin until you branch off and go your separate ways. you usually wish him farewell there but today, rin lingers. you raise your eyebrows in a silent gesture that questions his change in routine. he answers your unspoken question with one of his own. "are you still coming over later?"
is the universe mocking you? the moment you've strengthened your resolve, it's giving you a way out. a few hours ago you would have contemplated taking it but since then, you've come to terms with the fact that this isn't a situation you can control the outcome of. it may not end the way you want it to, but you don't want to hide your feelings forever. so you smile and shoot him a thumbs up. "yeah. yeah, i'll see you in a bit."
your phone loudly buzzes against the table, a text notification lighting up the screen. it's a check-in from rin; you're late. you pick the device up and type out a quick reply letting him know that you're on your way before shoving the phone in your pocket. your eyes turn to the spot beside the space your phone had occupied, the one where your box of homemade chocolates sits atop rin's folded jacket.
you slap your hands against your cheeks, rubbing the skin up and down as you breathe out a deep breath. "you got this," you remind yourself as you gather the items against your chest and start your walk to rin's apartment.
your fist feels heavy as it knocks against his unit's door. it doesn't take long before it swings open, revealing rin on the other side. the outfit he had worn to campus is traded in for something comfier—sweatpants and a t-shirt. he steps aside to let you in and you enter, kicking your shoes off and sliding into a pair of slippers he leaves out for guests.
you follow rin to the couch and take a seat beside him, making sure to leave a good amount of space between you. his thumb presses down on the arrow keys of the remote as he navigates the streaming service's selection of films. "any requests?"
"no," you shake your head, "whatever you want is fine."
he hums and continues scrolling through the movies falling under the horror genre. your leg is bouncing again, just like this morning. you can't wait any longer.
"thanks for letting me borrow this." you set his hoodie on the cushion of the couch, the empty portion between you and him. your voice and the movement he catches out of the corner of his eye lead rin to pause his search, to turn and face you.
you feel small under his gaze but will yourself to place the box on top of the folded fabric. "and these... are for you, too."
teal irises scrutinize the box. your heartbeat is loud in your ears, the only thing you can hear in the silent room. rin's lack of a reaction has the palms of your hands sweating.
"they're from me if you're wondering why i didn't toss them out," you attempt to joke, but you don't laugh. and neither does rin.
he picks up the box and you swear your heart lurches up into your throat with the action. your mind is a mess of thoughts ricocheting off the surface of your skull. why is he so quiet? is he trying to figure out how to let you down easy? no—he's got to be thinking about how you crossed the line. there's no way the two of you can go back to normal after this. this was a bad, bad idea— "i thought you were mad because i was turning all those girls down."
you don't understand what his words mean but the simple sound of his voice draws you back to reality, pulls you out of your head and away from those thoughts. when you look at rin, his eyes are already on you.
"what?" you croak out.
"i thought you were cheering them on or hoping that i'd end up accepting one of them," rin admits. "that's why i kept saying i couldn't change how i feel."
he sees it now. those questions and your looks of pity—sure, you probably did feel bad for them but really, you were putting yourself in their shoes. "you thought i'd turn you down, too?"
"i don't know." you cross your arms to shield yourself from his possible reply to your question of, "are you going to?"
"i told you i wasn't interested in them," he repeats himself for what feels like the umpteenth time. though, the next part is new, something he has to turn his gaze down to get out. "i never said anything about not being interested in you."
his statement is vague and while you think you know what he’s trying to convey, you have to be sure. the weight won’t be lifted off of your shoulders until you know. swallowing thickly, you ask, "is that your way of saying you're interested in me?"
rin looks back up at you as if it’s obvious. "why else would i have rejected all those girls?"
"you not liking them isn’t really enough evidence for me to have made that connection, rin." you slap his shoulder for putting you through unnecessary mental gymnastics. “just say you like me.”
“aren’t you supposed to be the one saying that to me?” he asks, shaking the heart-shaped box in the air as though you had forgotten.
“hey! be careful with those, they took all night to make.” it’s a little embarrassing to admit, but you think you’re past the point of caring. “and i wouldn’t do that for someone i didn’t like.”
you scan his features for any signs of discomfort but everything about his countenance is normal—all but the flush of pink creeping up on his cheeks. you don’t think you’ve ever seen him blush before this moment. the sight makes you giddy but, more than anything, you feel like you can breathe normally for the first time today.
“well,” he looks down to avoid your gaze, carefully taking the lid off of the box, “i wouldn’t accept chocolates from someone i didn’t like either.”
the smile that graces your lips at his declaration is one of pure joy. you’d spent so much time analyzing and assessing the negatives all day that you didn’t even allow yourself to imagine how it would feel if rin felt the same. it's almost like a dream.
it's silly, you know, but you can't help but reach out and poke the flesh of his cheek with your index finger.
blue-green eyes flit up from the piece of candy held between his lithe fingers to meet yours. "what was that for?"
you grin. "just making sure this is all real."

he sends you pictures for everything he does. from the very moment he wakes up to the moment he goes to sleep. it’s like he lives for it.
it was cute at first, but when your camera roll consists of rows and rows of images of the same shade of purple and varying backgrounds, it gets exhausting.
“don’t you ever get tired?” you yawn.
there’s a beat of silence. “of what?”
“of sending me pictures of your face every time you breathe.”
“why would i?” he grins, “i’ve been told i’m quite pretty.”
you give him a look through your screen. he simply laughs before scooping up a bite of veggies with his chopsticks.
“why?” he playfully glares at you, “got a problem with that?”
“no,” you sigh, “but i might grow sick of seeing your face spreading across my camera roll.”
he lets out an offended gasp, “excuse me?!”
you hum, “it’s like a disease.”
“what?!”
you burst out laughing at his reaction, tears pooling in your eyes. he glares at you, aggressively pointing his chopsticks at you through the screen.
“i’ll have you know,” he pouts, “i send you the best pictures of myself!”
“yeah?” you wipe your eyes, “so that one time you sent me that picture of you crying after you stubbed your toe was the best one you could send?”
a blush spreads through his cheeks. “i wasn’t thinking straight.”
“‘course not.”
he grabs another bite of stir-fried veggies, “i hope you’ve deleted it by now.”
“what do you take me for?” you cheekily smile at him, “it’s my wallpaper.” (it’s also your favorite picture of him ever.)
“i hate you.”
you stick your tongue out at him. “stop sending me so many pictures of your face then.”
he hums, “i don’t hate you that much.”
you drum your fingers against your desk. “you’re just obsessed with seeing your face aren’t you?”
he scoffs through a bite. “so obsessed.”
“i bet you’re checking yourself out through the camera as we speak.”
there’s a pause. your eyes widen when you see his cheeks slowly turn red.
“are you?”
he buries his face in his hands. “shut up.”
“reo!” you gasp in disbelief.
he lets out an embarrassingly high pitched squeal. “shut up!”
he sneaks a peek at you through his fingers. you snicker at him.
“why’re you getting shy on me now?” your voice is laced with mirth.
“i’m going to hang up on you.” you can practically hear the pout on his lips.
“no!” a laugh slips past your lips, “i’m sorry.”
“if you’re really sorry,” he lowers his hands from his face, pout on full display, “you’ll let me keep sending you pictures of me.”
“i take it back, i’m not sorry.”
he frowns, “do you really hate my pictures that much?”
“i never said i hated them,” you start, voice gentle, “i just don’t like having them taking up half of my camera roll.”
reo hums, slowly nodding in acknowledgement.
“plus,” you offer him a cheeky smile, “i’d much rather see it in person.”
a small, satisfied grin spreads through his lips, “you’re such a flatterer.”
“but, since you insist,” he sighs, “i suppose i could let you see me in person today.”
“you suppose?”
“you’ve been mean to me throughout most of this call,” he clicks his tongue, “if anything i’m being too nice to you.”
he lets out a soft sigh, gently shaking his head.
“anyway, just hurry up and get ready,” he smiles, “i’ll be at your place in an hour to pick you up.”
you perk up. “where are we going?”
“that’s for me to know and you to find out.”
you roll your eyes. he sticks his tongue out at you before quickly saying ‘see you soon,’ blows you a quick kiss goodbye, and hangs up.
you lazily get up from your desk, groaning as you stretch your arms.
you’re left looking forward to your date with reo, and the (not so) small hope that he won’t stop sending you pictures of himself. (even if it means you’ll have to figure what to get rid of in order to free up space on your phone for them.)
(you’ll never tell him that, though.)

❤︎ — PAIRING: itoshi rin x reader
❤︎ — PROMPT: "wait, don't go, please." requested by ☕️ anon
❤︎ — CW: fluff, hurt/comfort, moody + touch-starved rin
itoshi rin has bad days.
beneath his calm, collected, rational exterior, is a human. someone who feels just as deeply as those around him. although, unlike many of those people, rin isn't so good at expressing said feelings. he bottles them up, fights his battles alone and in silence.
you've noticed that much as long as you've been with him.
which is why you aren't entirely surprised when the slam of a door sounds throughout your apartment—loud enough that you can hear it from your bedroom all the way down the hall. his footsteps are heavy with his approach and you set your phone aside to give him your full attention.
rin nudges the door open with his shoulder, the opposite hand running through his hair in irritation. he drops his duffel bag by the dresser and it hits the floor with a thud as he pulls open the drawers in search of some loungewear. you don't miss the way he fails to greet you as usual, with a kiss on your temple and inquiries about your day.
"hey," you start, watching the man stack a folded pair of joggers on the surface, "welcome home." a beat of silence passes, and then more, enough to tell that you won't be getting any response from him.
"rough day?" you probe, hoping the question will elicit a reply.
and it does, just not the one you're looking for. "i'm getting in the shower," rin tells you, never turning to face you. instead, he steps into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
you sigh at his blatant resistance to talk things through with you, but you're not angry—far from it, actually. you know this routine. he shuts down in an attempt not to take his frustrations out on you and disappears until the stress he's under begins to seep away.
there's no telling how long he'll spend beneath the stream of steaming water but you want to be ready for him when he gets back.
on the other side of the door, in the room where the mirror begins to fog up and the water pelts the tiles, rin stands unmoving under the shower head. an overwhelming number of thoughts are crowding his skull—thoughts of his less-than-ideal performance during today’s practice, thoughts of his stagnant progress, thoughts of inferiority. but most of all, thoughts about how the aftermath of his shitty day was taken out on you are ruthlessly nagging at him.
he shouldn't have done that. you've always told him that you're on his team, by his side, here to help the best you can. and he knows it's true but on days like these, it's hard for him to believe that he can rely on anyone but himself.
until he can convince himself that he deserves any consolation, relief, sympathy from you, rin scrubs away at his skin, soapy blobs running down his body and into the drain.
when he opens the door, rin’s heart feels lighter in his chest upon seeing that you haven’t left. you must have gotten up for a moment though because sitting on the mattress with you is the hair dryer. there's a bowl of fruit on your bedside table, too. the motion at the en suite catches your attention, leading you to drag your gaze up from your phone in favor of looking at rin. you offer him a small smile as you set the device on the surface to the left of you.
“want me to dry your hair?” you reach forward to grab the dryer, waving the appliance to emphasize your question. there's no sign of resentment or bitterness in your voice—it's just as easygoing as it had been when you greeted him.
rin swallows and nods. "sure."
"sit," you instruct him with a finger pointing to the ottoman at the foot of your bed. he wordlessly follows your command, turning around to take a seat on the furniture while your knees dig into the mattress to meet him there.
the hair dryer whooshes to life in your hand, a rush of warm air hitting the back of rin's head and sending damp strands of dark green hair forward. that and the feel of your fingers gently shaking out and separating the strands calms rin to his core. it's nearly enough to make him forget about the unfavorable happenings of his day.
all too soon the sensation is gone and you're sitting back on your calves.
"all done," you tell rin. "get comfortable. i'll put this away."
you sneak off to return the blow dryer to its rightful place in the bathroom and quickly wash your hands before joining rin back in your bedroom. spotting rin resting against the pillows, you round the bed and perch yourself beside him, patting your lap in a silent gesture for him to lay his head there.
the side of rin's face presses against your thighs in the new, relaxing position. the weight of his head is comforting and enough to tell you that the shower helped clear the fog of frustration from his mind. still, you don't want to pressure him into talking about something he doesn't want to share so, instead, you grab the porcelain bowl from your table and pluck an apple slice from the dish. you hold it to rin's lips, coaxing him to take a bite.
he does, a small nibble at first before his incisors break off bigger chunks. you feed him, stealing pieces of the sliced fruit here and there while your other hand runs through the silky strands of hair splayed out on your lap. it keeps up this way until the bowl is empty.
you make a move to get up and rinse the dish out but you don't make it far.
"wait, don't go." rin speaks, his hand shooting out to stop yours from pulling away. his fingers loosen around your wrist but he doesn't let you go entirely, as if he's afraid that you slink away if he does. the next thing he says is much quieter, just above a whisper. "please."
any plan you have to leave the bed dissipates with his words. you fall back into the softness of the pillows behind you, fingernails grazing the nape of rin's neck. teal eyes framed by thick lashes stare up at you. behind them, you're almost sure there's a glint of desperation. you nod. "i won't."
rin takes a moment to collect his thoughts, to formulate the right words.
"i'm sorry," he starts. it comes out slowly, not because he's reluctant to say so but because he wants to be sure you hear him. "for being short with you. i wasn't my best at practice and i made it your problem. i shouldn't have and i'm sorry."
he doesn't look away from you once during his admission, blue-green irises boring into you.
you smile and squish rin's cheeks together, causing his lips to poke out in a pout. your gesture may be silly, but you really do appreciate him saying sorry. "apology accepted. just remember, i'm always on your side. always."
he pulls your hand away and kisses your palm. "i know. and... thank you."

sae & rin itoshi with a neglected reader part 2 / part 1 ! ✧ ⁺ ➥ heavy themes, gn!reader dies, delusions, bad writing, death is accidental, not proof read
"a weird one - unlike any of the brothers" "i agree, they seem desperate" "must've been hard to be overshadowed" "hush !! if you say it that loud they might h-" SLAM
it was so bad that many people were gawking at the sight, the troubled child of the itoshi family had just punched someone. straight in the face - your knuckles where white as you kept clenching on them, shaking and their face was red. it was so bad that many people were gawking at the sight, the troubled child of the itoshi family had just punched someone. straight in the face - your knuckles where white as you kept clenching on them, shaking and their face was red.
your parents were disappointed. they gave you everything you had and you had the audacity to harm someone over some small words? maybe you are the black sheep of the family. "You need to learn how to control your anger and ..." the tears prevented you from hearing properly, words igniting a deep fire in your heart. you wanted to run away, so fast, away but something was holding you back. your neck felt like it was pinched by thorns - your eyes were hurting. "we're off." your parents stood up and walked to the door. was this abandonment? why was this scene so familiar before? it was the same hair color, walking together out of that damn door and leaving you behind - for a moment you manage to raise up your hand and tried to call out to them. "sae....rin" where are they?
life was seemingly getting better, you wore the same clothes everyday, looked at the same things everyday, ate the same things everyday. walking along the grassy fields, you don't know where you were, your legs hurt and you were dazed, the fire in your heart growing more larger by the second. it was a hot day. water. you needed water. where's water? those words seemingly registered in your brain and your exhausted legs took you to a place where it felt oh so similar. oh. it was a public pool, how nice - exactly where water was. the sounds of whirring were surrounding you. in the middle of the pool, was sae and rin in their floaties. wait. sae and rin ? really ? they looked at you with warming eyes and waved their hands at you - beckoning you to come over. you jumped into the pool. so this is where they were. you don't even question it, you were happily playing the water with your brothers - when has life ever been this relaxing? for some reason, it felt truly good to be in the water this time - that fire in your heart has been such a bother, the water in the pool dimmed it immediately.
sae never thought he was a bad brother, he just thought he had too little time. he saw your texts, saw your glances, saw you liking his every post on social ( wait he knows your user ? ) but tough luck - he doesn't know how to respond to all of this. he was devastated when the awkward relationship with rin started, he just never thought caring for your feelings.
sae doesn't know anything but football. he wants to tell you he cares and that you will always be the very best sibling he could ever have, even up until now he collects and favourites every image of the two of you together, some with rin too maybe.
to properly explain his love for you, is like this : he loves you, he really does, and he wishes he could have more time for you.
rin is so not aware of his actions - he thought that sae was being a good brother to you so he automatically assumes you have an awkward assumption about him too.
rin thinks, that sae is doing the part of brother and sister with you, without needing him. and it hurts him, he wouldn't admit it though. it hurts to have sae throw their dreams out the window and now he wants to hog all your attention too.
he thinks he's doing the most, sae has your time and he will never be able to fit in the picture. after all - only the best footplay player can properly protect such an innocent person.
it was when sae and rin walked to the beach - not expecting to see each other. oh well, they could just do a mean little bump, a hi and walk along.
when their shoulders were about to meet each other, sae suddendly stopped walking which makes rin glance over and sae tugs his arm - tightly. what? "there's somebody jumping off the bridge." sae said, a bit shakily. rin turns his head back. "is that-" rin stops. and the both of them dashed. sae called the ambulance and rin went over to the edge of the beach, trying to figure out what he just saw. he was so certain it was you, but why would it to be you? you had no reason too, right? "..." your body was gently carried out of the dark sea, not very hard to find you considering all you did was plunge down into the water. rin's body was numb, he couldn't control his limbs, he fell down. sae tried to dash over to your cold body but the authorities stopped him and told him to back away. never has he ever felt so desperate, such want for something. but.. don't you look a little weird? your clothes were tattered, rashes and bruises were placed all over your body, it was like you were abandoned on the streets. "i thought you were looking after them" rin stated - not questioning, just a statement. "isn't it the other way around?" sae replied back, wanting to push the blame onto rin. there was no way this had happened. he refused to admit that his lack of attention to you caused this. it had to be someone, rin maybe. "there's no point in being the best at something, if you cannot bested your feelings" rin spat out, pushing the blame back. sae is the oldest, right? he should have taken care of you. both of them stared at each other's gazes you were playing water with them, with cool floaties the blame wasn't pushed anymore, it was divided within their hearts you went to get a hot chocolate with marshmellows, rin and sae having energy drinks the blame was so heavy they felt the sting, feeling the coldness of your body on their faces you went home with sae and rin, hand in hand
sae and rin never recovered. the nights were as cold as a dead body. sometimes sae cried and cried, rin suddenly sharing a room with his brother again, cried too - never stopped until the morning where the sun rises and dries off the water. was this also how you felt? texts were answered years later but no responses. "i thought you were looking after them." "i thought i did enough." "what if-" "there are no what ifs anymore." silence followed. then sniffles and tears.
your room collected dust overtime, the curtains covering up your window perfectly - to block off any nosy people. sae sometimes goes inside your room, sits on the floor. rin would silently knock on the door, hoping someone would open it. sometimes, rin would find sae sitting on the floor and joins him too - as they dream of another day
a/n : for further explanation - reader was abandoned by their parents and they left reader alone, thus why eat drink and wear the same thing. they were in a state of delusion and their legs instinctively took them to the sea where they often gazed with sae and rin. even at their last moments they really loved sae and rin so ya & i found a nice discord username finally omg im happy w this one

春のParfum 誘われ目覚める / 愛を閉じ込めた 記憶と思い出たち … this spring scented parfum was called to wake you up / reminiscing on these memories that were trapped inside this love.
“teach me”
“no”
“why not?!”
“because i don’t want to”
sae stares blanky at your frustrated face (he thinks it’s cute but he’d rather be buried alive than to admit it out loud) through his phone screen. you were asking him to teach you some spanish just for funsies but sae being sae, he doesn’t want to cooperate
“then, let me at least hear you speak some sentences, please?” you try to bargain, pulling the puppy eyes on him. you’ve watched multiple clips of his interviews in the past where he spoke a little bit of spanish and you wanted to hear it when he’s talking to you.
to your surprise (not) sae just rolls his eyes as his response, earning a little huff from you
“you know what sae, nevermind” you say in defeat. putting your hands up in front of the camera to show that you’ve surrendered into trying to make sae say something in spanish. your attention is no longer at the stoic boy, but on twitter, tiktok, instagram, you name it, your attention was probably there. if he’s not gonna cooperate then fine. two can play this game
sae noticed that you suddenly went quiet on him. he calls out your name but you don’t budge. that only meant one thing. you were ignoring him.
you hear sae sigh at the other end. before you can ask him what his problem was, he clears his throat,
“te amo cada día más y te amare pase lo que pase”
you swear you felt like you just entered the gates of heaven with the way the words smoothly rolls out of his tongue like honey.
“happy now?” you can hear the bluntness in his voice. “and open your camera, tch” he clicks his tongue in annoyance. you hurriedly opened your camera once again to see sae’s face once again but with a faint blush on his cheeks. you instantly took a screenshot which sent a notification on sae’s end causing the latter to raise his brows in confusion.
“what’s with the big smile on your face?” sae asks, adjusting his pillow behind him, watching you smile like an idiot. (his idiot)
“because you spoke in spanish” you gush, smiling uncontrollably at your boyfriend. sae snickers before gazing at you lovingly.
“did you even understand what i just said?”
“nope, but i know it was probably something romantic” you wiggle your eyebrows at sae who only smiles at your reaction. you can see his whisker dimples poking through, a tell tale sign that he was genuinely smiling. a rare sight to see.
“so, are you gonna tell me what you just said?”
“no”
“sae!”
