First chapter's getting posted tonight babyyyy :D
"Shadow Lady?" the soft voice of her mother called, warbling through the ocean.
She smiled, zipping through the water toward the sweet song. The muscles in her powerful tail, almost four times as long as her torso, carried her through the currents at a lightning speed. The gem around her neck, connected by a thin chain to the back of her neck, fell flush against her chest as she whipped around rock formations and brushed against seagrass. In a quick motion, she darted into the clam shell leaning against a rock that made her home, doing a quick lap around her startled mom before throwing her hands up and stopping. "I'm here!"
Her mother chuckled. Pink Coral Branch was known to be a gentle giant, as tall as a hydrothermal vent but as warm as a summer ocean current. Her large hand wrapped around her tiny daughter, bringing her close to her chest. 15 feet of human, 15 feet of tail, all boundless love.
A nameless tune drifted through the water, coming from Pink Coral Branch. Shadow Lady tried to join in, though her notes were off-pitch and her inflection sloppy at best.
"One day, child, you will grow as tall as this reef, and be responsible for the life in it." Pink Coral Branch said. "Your top half will be as long as your tail, and your voice will become something very special."
Shadow Lady held up her necklace, feeling a small tug at the top of her spine. Pink Coral Branch reached for her own necklace. "Do you know what's in here?" She took it off her neck and put it in Lizzie's hands, though it was almost larger than her upper body.
"It's our voice!" She said, grinning up at her mother.
Pink Coral Branch nodded, then took the necklace and weaved it back over her head. "When the necklace grows off your neck, you must keep it safe at all times. It will be how you sing, how you beguile, and how you put on a human skin. Never lose it."
Shadow Lady clutched her necklace in both hands, close to her chest. "I will never."
----
Lizzie sighed dramatically, smacking her face into her arms. "I hate it here."

"homosexuality is unnatural! there's only two genders! it's a sin-"
I'm sorry, have you seen NATURE???
ALSO THE ARTIST IS HUMON, FIND THEM AT HUMONCOMICS.COM!! was so sure I had included that but apparently I forgot, so sorry!
and there's so many more species than this that exhibit homosexuality, varying genders, etc. SO! MANY!
it's very much a natural thing. it always has been. unfortunately, while homosexuality is found in many species, homophobia is only found in one
EDIT: added a keep reading cause this is a long post lol
EDIT: everyone in the comments needs to shut up or I will turn comments off, stop arguing, jeez
I've got my Life Series playlist on in the background and I'm building it up again. Feelings are doing their feeling thing but I'm getting it back up. I usually do write it somewhere else, this is a one-time exception, but I'm definitely copying down anything I wrote to Libre once I stop for any reason now. I've got my list of things to hit. I'm gonna do this!
Screenshot of what I have as a little preview/self esteem booster :3
@baosci @whiver-wyverncat
I've got some bad news...
My computer had to reload all my Chrome tabs and apparently I hadn't saved my second chapter of Drowning via preview yet? And like an idiot I hadn't copied it into Libre Office.
So I just lost the entirety of my almost finished second chapter.
I genuinely don't know if my motivation can recover from this, cause I definitely can't remember everything I wrote, and I don't want it to be any different. I feel awful and I'm so sorry. Maybe it's not my place to be, Baosci you are amazing and I can't wait to see where the canon of this goes, but I don't know what to do now. I love y'all. Maybe I'll figure out a different way to write it.
That's all. Just wanted to let you know.
Boss is asleep, cannot stop me from frogposting
this is my first ever animation and first post on tumblrš«
hope someone enjoys this
I'm not usually one to make posts like this, but I've recently started reading the Bible (both the New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition and the King James Bible, for purposes of literary and translation comparison, and I saw something that made me pause. I want to preface this by saying I'm no sort of theology authority or even a Christian, I am merely a nerdy queer agnostic peeking around the corner.
In Genesis, there's the commonly cited passage by sexist men (and women) about man being first and woman being created to serve man:
GENESIS 2 20;The man gave names to all cattle and to the birds of the air and to every animal of the field, but for the man there was not found a helper as his partner.Ā 21;So theĀ LordĀ God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then he took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.Ā 22;And the rib that theĀ LordĀ God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. [NRSVUE]
And Christian MAGA and right-wing and sexist people always point to it to be like "See! See! Women aren't on the same level as men!"
But what they never discuss is that this is the SECOND story of Genesis.
Early on in Genesis 2, it seems that a shift of authors occurs, or a different oral tradition is included, because the entire tone of the text changes drastically. God is never called the Lord until this change occurs, and the digital NRSVUE on Bible Gateway notes this shift explicitly.
The thing is, in the first chapter of Genesis, which details the six days of Earthly creation, there is a direct opposition to man and woman being uneven.
GENESIS 1 27;So God created humans in his image,Ā in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Male AND Female. At the same time. Neither subservient to the other, neither greater or lesser. And this is a single chapter behind the cited passage. What's more, both man and woman are in the image of God, meaning that God has both male and female aspects, and separated humans accordingly (possibly arbitrarily) for an unknown reason.
Y'all. God canonically has boobs and a dick.
What's more: Why do we refer to God as a he? Why would he care? Did gendered pronouns even exist in his language before we assigned them to him? WHY WON'T "CHRISTIANS" WHO CITE THE BIBLE FOR EVERYTHING ACKNOWLEDGE THIS??
Ugh I just needed to get my thoughts in writing. Casually waving to the two people who might reblog this. š See ya next time I have weird deep thoughts!
*crashes into ur dash three months late*
