I think it’s very telling when ppl praise Nicholai for being edgy and ruthless and pissed off and for bitching at Jill when he meets her cause “oh he’s the villain duh!” But then they’re like “uwu why is Jill such a bitch? Why is she so angry? uwu”

Nicholai is allowed to be an asshole even though he gets his way in the game, while Jill isn’t allowed to be furious when she’s gone through so much bullshit :/

death doesn’t understand why none of her friends like her anymore.

one day, she notices life staring at her from across the table but never looks her in the eyes. she thinks something is there, but they never touch.

but life gives her presents.

tiny little things. fragile creatures. she sends them to death, and they take a while to get to her. (sometimes they only take a few moments though. for some reason, this makes death sad.)

life sends death beautiful creatures, painted black and ivory and golden and purple. and death cries out of bittersweet joy, because when life’s gifts reach death, they’re gone. (she wonders if it’s a blessing or a curse that every creature befalls the same fate.)

death learns to wait patiently for each new thing life sends her way.

sometimes life giggles and death catches herself blushing. she wants to get closer to life, but she knows what will happen if she does.

for millennia, life and death play a game of cat and mouse. life sends death beautifully wrapped presents and once death receives them, she places them in gorgeous boxes and gently lowers them into the ground, always leaving a single rose on top.

nothing changed about their exchange for millions of years.

until you came along.

and suddenly, everything was different.

FIRST OFF, this isn’t an essay or anything. Like, I am very annoyed by all the stuff I keep seeing in the tags and the fandom’s version of events as a whole; but at the end of the day it’s just fiction so I’m not about to type up a full dissertation and MLA format it just to rant about marvel. So, this is going to be stream of consciousness-ish; bare with me and strap in. At the end of the day, we’re all entitled to our opinion, even if we don’t agree. I guess I’ll go potentially order my coffin now.
