Echo’s First Moments with TBB, Part 4

*the whole room is dark and silent, Echo is fast asleep*

*all of a sudden Echo feels something touching his leg*

Echo: *bolts upright, sees Tech measuring his prosthetic legs* AHHH TECH WHAT ARE YOU DOING

Tech: *adjusts goggles* oh, Echo, I apologize for waking you. I simply had a stroke of inspiration on modifications to make to your legs and required some precise measurements.

Echo: modifications?

Tech: yes. *begins pulling blueprints out and laying them on the bed* I’ve had several ideas tonight, but I think this one is my favorite.

Echo: that’s great, Tech, but honestly I’m really happy with—wait, are those rocket boots??

No but like actually, the thought of rewatching particular episodes makes it hard for me to breathe

So when I say “rewatch The Bad Batch” what I actually mean is “rewatch The Bad Batch up until I get to The Outpost and then stop because I don’t want to feel those feelings but then enough time passes and I’m like yeah ok I can just restart it at Aftermath and I’ll keep going but I never do so the vicious cycle just continues for ever and ever amen”

Do you think Hunter, Wrecker, Echo and Crosshair ever think about how the first mission given to the them by the empire was to kill Saw and they didn't because they knew it was wrong and valued human life, only for Saw to not see their lives the same and be fine with Tech being his collateral damage?

Also I personally headcannon that Crosshair did latch on to Echo really fast, but he would never admit to it. Like from day one he would totally die for Echo, but it was a long while before he would let himself say anything remotely unsarcastic to the reg because psh, he’s no softie (yes he is)

I’m definitely super obsessed with Echo and Crosshair’s relationship if you couldn’t already tell but above all I’m so interested in the ‘firsts’.

The first time they exchanged any sort of gift or the first time they shared something personal with each other. Their first hug. The first time they fought really bad and turned the ship into a war zone for a few days. The first time one of them took the other’s side in an argument. The first time they had to patch the other up after an injury and realized how scared they were to lose each other.

What did that look like? Did it take a really short time or were they tip toeing around each other for a few weeks? Did Crosshair latch onto Echo super fast like I tend to headcanon or did it take some time before he started to feel comfortable around him? Did Echo butt heads with Crosshair in the beginning? Still sometimes? How do they work through disagreements? Who was the first person Echo shared any sort of personal emotional thing with? Was it Crosshair or someone else? When was the first time he told Crosshair something like that? What was it? When was the first time they were able to joke with each other or make fun of each other? What’s their favorite way to spend time together and how did they find that out?

What’s something that only Crosshair knows about Echo and vice versa???

Just. The two of them navigating getting to know each other and finding out they have some very big things in common despite how standoffish Crosshair is and how strong willed Echo is. The two of them forming a strong bond and still being able to call each other out on shit when needed.

Just. Crosshair and Echo.

Can’t get over I Am Ready from TBB S3 score, and everything that it represents, with the way it interweaves Omega’s theme with the theme from Tech’s farewell and just hints of the OG Bad Batch theme….

The way the bad batch’s theme is just barely there, but more of just an echo behind Omega’s theme, indicates how they are always a part of her, but how the bad batch as we knew them is no more—they have moved on, become a part of something different and beautiful and hopeful through the life Omega will lead.

Tech’s theme is more obvious, and it shows 1) how Tech’s sacrifice is fundamental in the life that Omega and her brothers have lived, always a part of them, never to be forgotten; and 2) how Omega is making her own heroic sacrifice by going off to join the Rebellion, even though she has earned just as quiet and peaceful a life as her brothers and even though it may cost her everything.

And Omega’s theme, prevalent throughout the piece, is as light and hopeful as ever, and the very last gentle chords of the piece are only the first four notes of her theme—or rather, Omega’s theme remains unfinished, because her story is not over, and her future is ahead.

Poetry isn’t a strong enough word for it.

Hunter wasn’t jealous watching Omega chew on a toothpick just like Crosshair. He just knew her sarcastic potential and was terrified that Crosshair would turn her into his evil, sassy prodigy, and he only has the mental capacity to deal with one of those in his squad

I’m kind of obsessed with the idea of clones taking holos after missions they’re particularly proud of. Also, I love the Dad Batch as much as the next, but I ADORE their Frat Bro days!

(One day I’ll stop drawing clones in T-shirts and put them in proper gear, but today is not that day.)
