I really don't understand the desire of the screenwriters to make absolutely everything in this series revolve around Alicent. Don't get me wrong, I love her, but all the events of the series REALLY don't need to be focused on her. Show me how Helaena runs to Aegon with her daughter in her arms. She finds him in the throne room and the whole company freezes, seeing her in tears, with a cut on her neck. The smile fades from Aegon's face when he realizes that something irreparable has happened. He sobers up immediately. Finish the episode on his face when Helaena says that Jaehaerys was killed and after we were watching the development of Aegon's relationship with his son, it'll hurt. Let me see the moment when he realizes that while he was getting drunk with friends on the throne, his son was being killed. Show me his eyes when he realizes that the fragile happiness he had was destroyed and he couldn't prevent it in any way. Children are the only thing these two have in common, it's their tragedy, don't take it away from them.

Idk, it's something I've thought about since I read the books but I haven't seen it discussed anywhere. I had a friend with FAS when I was growing up (who was also in the foster care system until she was adopted, incidentally) so that's what popped into my mind.

are there fandoms that make different versions of characters yes there are, I'm pretty sure there's a fannon version of aegon that didn't sa anyone and I'm pretty sure people who do hotd fanfic with ocs and pair them with characters use that version heck I have aegon fanfic in the works however the character is diffrent to fit the plot of what I'm writing with said oc character I have (I just outed myself for this oh well)

but like don't send hate to actors who portray the characters because it isn't there doing there just doing their jobs

Maybe one way to do the Nathaniel/Neil thing would be to have him hearing everyone calling him Nathaniel when they’re really calling him Neil? Like similar to the effect they use when characters hear things a bit distorted and fuzzy, then we hear it switch to Neil and suddenly everything is clearer? Though that would put a weird filter on everything in the hotel scene but it could be restricted to names I guess idek

i could see that!! but that would still only be from the hotel though, right? does anyone in Baltimore call him Neil other than the team? but i can see it working. like a swirling glitchy kind of sound. like until Andrew calls him Neil his name isn't clear.

I could see it being set up earlier in the show in a flashback through a little tic that differentiates Neil from Nathaniel. When Neil gets back from the nest, the camera pov is from his perspective for most of it, or all we see are tiny details, his bandages, his hands, the view out Wymack's car window, until we get to the line where Wymack says "he sounds like him, but he doesnt look like him" or whatever and then Neil looks in the mirror and we smash cut back to him with his father before he ran away.

we can tell in his body language that he's trying to be his father's son. he does something, a deep breath, a raise in his shoulders, and something like a kubrick stare at himself with that signature Wesninski smile.

A season or two later we're in the car with Lola, and he looks at his hands, he traces the outline of a key into his thumb and then he does the same thing. A deep breath, movement in his shoulders and then that slow, creeping Nathaniel smile on his lips. and that's the end of that episode. there's a shift in his demeanor, even as hes pleading and yelling in pain, just something that paints him different.

so the new aftg oc is Neil's younger sibling they were about 2 years old when Mary took neil and them on the run (I say about 2 because neil was 10 when he and his mom went on the run in 98 and the unnamed oc (finding names is so fucking hard) was born somewhere between 96 and 97 so yeah, so as of the start of tfc the oc would be about 9-10 and then in tkm would be about 10-11 if that makes sense to people (I'm legit reading on timelines so that this makes sense from a fic point of view and like Mary died at 38 putting neil at 17 and the oc at like 8-9 depending on what month I have this kid born, I do have a drawing already done using a base/reference from mellon_soup so I will post that after I find a name for this kid, if you lot wanna give name recs you can
