Im currentely addicted to Epic: The musical ( for fifveth tyme ) and decided to make a picture of my queen Circe :
Troilus design! (ft best dad Apollo) He's around 12 years old here.
Researching Troilus' story is not an easy task because unfortunately most of the ancient texts focused on him didn't survive and others only survived in fragments.
This story is brutal even for greek mythology standards so please keep that in mind if you want to continue reading this or do more research on your own.
Something that all of the versions seems to agree on is that he was a Trojan prince, son of queen Hecuba and was killed by Achilles. His father was either Apollo or Priam (Apollo fits more with the context of the story though).
Most of the versions also focus on Troilus' young age and he's often shown to be visibly shorter than Achilles on the vase paintings depicting his death.
The most popular version of the myth (which is also supported by ancient vase paintings) states that Troilus and his sister Polyxena (she's not preset in every version though) went outside of Troy on their horses and while they were at a fountain Achilles ambushed them.
Achilles then chased Troilus who tried to hide inside of Apollo's temple (possibly seeking his father's protection) but Achilles caught up to him and murdered Troilus either inside or in front of the temple and then brutally mutilated his body.
There 2 alternative reasons given for the murder:
1. There was a prophecy which said that if Troilus reached 21 years of age Troy would never fall.
2. Achilles fell in love with Troilus, tried to force himself on him and was enraged when the boy refused his advances. (This version seems to have more surviving evidence)
It could also be that the only reason that Achilles killed Troilus was the fact that he was a Trojan prince and therefore an enemy but this does not seem to fit with the brutality of the act.
Here are some vase paintings that show Troilus' death at the hands of Achilles
Hey Disney, instead of wasting your money on making soulless live-action remakes, milking Toy Story for all it's worth and race-swapping iconic characters for "representation", here are some fairytales and scrapped movies you can adapt and un-cancel.
The One-Handed Girl; A Swahili fairytale about the trials a girl goes through as she deals with the unfettered greed of her older brother.
The Cat and the Cradle; A Dutch legend about a baby and a cat floating in a cradle after a city named Kinderdijk floods.
Tawhaki; A Maori fairytale about the demigod Tawhaki going above and beyond to be reunited with his Sky-fairy wife. (Edith Howes’ version here)
The Sisters Envious of Their Cadette; An Arabic fairytale about two sisters plotting their younger sister's demise.
The Four Skillful Brothers; A German fairytale about four brothers each learning a different trade of skills, and learn to work together once their father puts them to the test.
Gigantic; A planned animated musical film by Disney that ended up being cancelled. It was suppose to be about Jack discovering a world of giants hidden within clouds and befriending an 11 year old giant named Inma who treats him like a living doll.
Newt; A planned animated movie by Pixar that also ended up being cancelled for multiple reasons. It was suppose to be about two blue-footed newts who can’t stand each other being forced by science to save their species from extinction.
Don’t be afraid to correct me if I got anything wrong. And feel free to add to the list if you want!
Ok, thats the prototype of a history I’m creating.
I like circus, I like Greek mitology, why not fuse both?! It’s pretty simple for now, a circus that takes place in the 20s /30s,where the artist named themselves after the Greek gods.
But names hold power, they’re clearly not the real Greek deity’s, but for using their names, they also get their personality, their fates are adapted to retelling of the original myth .
( Thats just an excuse to draw Apollo in a trapeze artist clothe)
Never agreed so much whit a tumblr ship post
Have brainrot here are my favourite straw hat ships and why
Zolu - i just love them, they make so much sense they're literally soulmates. Even in fics they aren't together romantically they will always be soulmates. The way they understand each other with a look. They way luffy was so excited to see zoro in impel town only to realise it's just bon clay using his face. The way zoro is always so ready to die for luffy cause his dream is now so integrated with luffys.
Lusan - sanji is luffys babygirl especially after wci. The way luffy looked at sanji when sanji was talking about the all blue.
Zolaw - grumpy sword bfs. Like they have so much potential like why did zoro have to pull law onto his lap after dressrosa. What happened onto the journey together wano that made Law so desperate for zoro not to die. They're seen together in every scene in zou.
Zokiku - if zoro was going to be with any woman it would be a 7 foot tall samurai lady. The despair in his voice in wano when he sees her arm.
Namivivi - GIRLFRIENDS. They're so cute in little garden and alabasta. They are literally in love.
Namitash - nami and her love for strong female marines after her mum.
Namiwanda - they're so cute in zou, nami cares for her so much.
Sanuso - love love love them they're such cute bfs. The way sanji is so protective of usopp.
Usokaya - the cutest childhood friends to lovers
Sanjiviola - the only woman with an appropriate age without making sanji look like a predator. They were actually so cute in dressrosa.
Acesan - ace was flirting. Ace was sanjis bi awakening.
Frobin - PARENTS AHH I LOVE THEM. They had so much chemistry in enies lobby, thriller bark and punk hazard. Robin making fun of him and playing nonchalant as her way of flirting, and franky being bold in how he shows his interest in her. Frankys speech saying she deserves to live.
I'm a bit of a sucker for the Robin jinbei franky and Brook polycule I can't lie... they just work.
Tbh the east blue polycule is also so cute, like the east blue boys are namis boys.
There's probably more i can't think right now I'll add more if I think of more
Just to remember myself when writing
The Minotaur was never half human, his mother is Pasiphae. She is an immortal being, the child of Helios and a water nymph.... worshiped once as an Ocular deity. So no, Minotaur ( named Asterion in truth) is not half human at all...
Medusa was never human, her parents were Phorcyus and Keto, two sea deities! Even in Ovid's version where she was assaulted by Poseiden. Which sort of explains the powers of her blood, all of her siblings are powerful monsters, her sister is Echidna, the wife if Typhon and mother of all earthly monsters from Ladon to Cerebus...
So... I might be writing stories with these are relevant parts...
Still thought this cool to share.
remember my Circus Olympus AU? I was listening to the soundtrack of The Greatest Showman, and OMG, it’s the CO musical. Every single music there can have a contest in the AU.
