Leo called your name as you entered the Lair, and you looked over to find him sitting on the raised dial, arms loose and relaxed and a soft smile on his face. When he saw he had your attention, he added, "come sit with me?"

A moth caught to flame, you followed his request, reclining back against the small space in between his crossed legs and letting him wrap his arms around you. His hands whispered over your biceps, beak curling down to nuzzle into your hair, and you reciprocated, turning your head for a quick kiss before reaching for his hands.

Hands that were much larger than your own.

Logically, it made sense, considering how tall he was, but whenever you clasped your hands together you were reminded of the size difference anew. Your digits had to stretch far to slot in between his, or the whole of his palm cupped your closed fist, The soft whisper of scales and calluses contrasted nicely against the softness of your skin.

But the best part of holding hands with Leo, was watching him slowly parcel out the realizations as well. The first time you'd held hands, he'd been tentative, hesitant, barely curling his fingers over your wrist, ready at a moment's notice to release you.

Now however, you'd be hard pressed to have your hand returned to you if you so desired.

His palms cupped along the back of your hands, pulling them close together so they mirrored each other in the dip of your lap. His thumbs hooked over yours, his fingers curling around yours to hold them shut. The fine scars on his knuckles, the sides of his fingers, caught on the tiny hairs covering your skin, and you remembered the time he confessed he was as hyper aware of your soft body hair, the same as you were with his pebbled scales.

He breathed in deeply, against the back of your head, a soft rumble coming from the plastron pressed against your back as you settled in for as long as he wanted. "I like the way your hand feels in mine." He pressed a kiss to your nape before turning his head sideways and laying his cheekbone against your shoulder.

You slowly reached out and trailed a finger over one of his, nail scratching lightly in between his scales. You smoothed over a scar cut into the meat of his thumb, the little line small in the grand scheme of things, but you felt the muscles in his forarms tighten in reflex at the feeling.

"I like it when you hold me" You told him, twitching your hands in his grip, wanting to massage his palms like he did on occasion for you, but he rumbled in protest behind you, the sound dipping down back into that contented sound when you gave up and returned to just letting him surround you.

"Let me hold you a little longer, just like this." His jaw moved along your shoulder, his words and breath sending a shiver over your skin. "Please. We can move in just a bit."

You rolled your eyes, already knowing without looking that he was fast on his way to using you as a napping pillow, and that in all likelihood you'd be stuck for a while.

You could tell the exact moment he dropped off, leaning against you, because his body went liquid against your back, like strings on a puppet finally slackened. The unspoken trust never ceased to surprise you, the revelation sending goosebumps over your arms every time.

It was always worth it, even if the weight of him ended up pressing you forward at an almost uncomfortable angle, and the sound of his soft snores in your ears echoed like a phantom noise at odd times even hours later. His arms pulled you in closer, curling yours with them, over your stomach and pressing in close.
