Staring out the window in wonder, whilst keeping an eye on the monitor for all your patients, you silently hoped that everyone was sleeping soundly.

This storm had raged on, and only a select few could go on missions at the moment. Mainly the more important ones, such as supply runs and thwarting talon missions.

Spinning in your office chair, you took another sip of coffee, you managed to convince Angela to take the night off since she had taken the night shift the day before. It didn’t matter much to you, sure, you were tired. But that didn’t mean you couldn’t work. Angela tended to work until she broke. And as a medic, that was not something you couldn’t risk Angela falling asleep on the job. There were too many people to patch up, too many kids (young adults really, you called them kids as an inside joke) getting themselves hurt trying to be a hero, and some actually becoming heroes, diving in front of a bullet to save civilians, a friend, or someone else of importance.

You sigh deeply, taking another sip of your coffee, it's still hot, thanks to the coffee machine being only a few feet away. At the moment, you're scrolling through your phone as well, playing a few time burner games that you downloaded to make this shift less boring.

However, it seems that whatever has control over destiny thinks differently, as you hear one of the beeping noises increase rapidly.

It flashes red at you, this could be a sign of many things. Fear, Panic, Maybe even...ew. You remembered the first time you walked in on a patient doing that in the middle of the night.

You pull your lab coat onto your shoulders, grabbing a medkit, and rushing down the hall.

Typing the code for the room, the door slides open, and you see a familiar, yet sweaty cyborg on the bed, clutching his shoulders, almost in a self hug.

You can see that his knuckles are white on his fleshy hand, and his metal one is digging into the flesh of his still intact arm.

You hear him breathing heavily and rapidly. Panic Attack. Another flash of lightning fills the room, and he seems to panic more, jumping at it and his breathing becomes even faster, heavier than before.

You softly place the medical kit on the table farthest from him.

“Genji?”

No reply, however, his eyes flick up to you, before they turn back to the ground.

That was a good sign at least, he wasn’t too wrapped up in his head at the moment. You may be able to calm him down quicker than the other doctors have.

“Genji, I need you to count down from ten.”

Genji gives no reply at first, before his eyes clench cut, muttering something under his breath so quiet that you barely hear it.

“Genji, what do you need right now?”

He is silent at first, before shaky fingers gesture to the window.

You turn to the window at the opposite end of the room, slowly, you walk over and press a button next to the window, instantly the noise from outside is no more, and a dark black shade draws over it.

The room is dark for a moment before the lights slowly turn on, then again, it's not like you’d need them, Genji’s LEDs would light the room up anyways.

You turn to him, see Genji, his breathing less labored, still in a panic mode, but thankfully not as bad as before. You were certain if Genji didn’t tell you about the window, he would’ve passed out.

“You’re safe here Genji,” You say so softly. “You’re alright, it's just the thoughts that are doing this, nothing else.”

He still doesn’t reply, eyes blown wide and still clutching himself, but his breathing has slowed a tad bit more, you’re a bit closer now, and you can see that he’s trembling.

“I’m here, Genji.”

No reply again, but you don’t expect one either.

“Just keep breathing,” A pause. “Can you count to ten again?”

Genji’s eyes slam shut, and his head falls into his arms, but you can still hear him breathing, there are breaks between his breaths, you know he’s counting.

It takes about ten minutes for him to calm down, throughout it, you’re there, coaxing him, occasionally rushing outside to silence any rowdy recruits that returned from missions. But you’re there.

The second time you turn, his breathing has returned to normal, his face is drenched with sweat and tears, his hair sticking to his forehead. He avoided your gaze, refused to acknowledge your presence, and you don’t hear a thank you from him either, not that you care of course.

Genji says something softly under his breath. Maybe a thank you.

You turn to the medicine kit, grabbing alcohol pads and a few bandaids, as you see the area where his metal hand was gripping his shoulder is bleeding.

His eyes are wide and wild, he seems ready to attack you, slit your throat, but he looks like that all the time, that’s what the other doctors say. In all honesty, you did too. You were terrified of him, you weren’t confrontational, more passive unlike some of the other doctors. You heard the news of when Genji had first woken up when he learned what they had done. He was so angry. So many doctors were injured, not that he had done it on purpose, purely accidents, he didn’t want to hurt anybody on purpose. It was when Angela started to treat him that he calmed down. She was strong, yet so kind and gentle that it even managed to sweep Genji off his feet, you remembered that one week that Genji had a crush on her.

It faded afterward, you fixed his prophetic every now and then, mainly oiling and helping him maintain them.

It was often moments like this that you thought what could’ve happened to this man, this young man, who could’ve thought to this to someone so young. Staring at his scars in wonder. You learned not to stare too long, he took it wrong and told you to leave.

But your hands come to his arm anyways, he flinches, just as he usually does, you don’t even get to look for assurance before he relaxes.

The pad is placed on his shoulder, he watches you work, his eyes never leaving the wound you’re treating.

The small band-aids are placed down.

“Better, right?” You ask.

He nods slowly. Fingertips briskly touching the bandaids. His hand falls to his lap.

“I’m sorry,” A pause. “For waking you.”

You raise an eyebrow. “You didn’t wake me Genji, I was on shift.”

Genji doesn’t say anything after that.

“If...you don’t mind me asking...was it one of those nightmares again?”

Genji looks at you, then shakes his head.

“It was the storm wasn’t it?”

He is silent, but you see his eyes flicking back and forth. Slowly, he nods his head.

“Alright, next time, I’ll remember to tell the doctors to close the window-”

“I can handle it.”

You stare.

“Genji, you had an anxiety attack, because of the storm?”

Genji scoffs. “So? It happened once, I’ve been fine other times.”

“Genji, I’ve treated plenty of patients, it doesn’t just happen once, it’s a trigger.” You pause. “I know that you tend to let your mind get the best of you-”

“I let no such thing happen!” He snaps, eyes narrowing.

You shake your head. “Either way, I’d keep the window closed, at least until the storm has passed.”

Genji doesn’t reply, even after you pack up your med kit and leave the room. The door shuts, and you let a sigh escape your lips.

                                                          _

“The storm?” Angela asks the next morning. You shake off sleep yet again.

“Yep, figured it was because of it,” You pause. “He asked me to close the window while in the middle of it.”

Angela sighs. “Well, you were right about it being a trigger.” A pause, from her this time. “When his brother attempted to...kill him...I remember it storming heavily.”

You raise an eyebrow.

“So..” A yawn escapes you. “He’s fine in small storms, but heavier ones he isn’t?”

Angela shrugs. “I suppose, he will not tell me the specifics. I doubt he ever will,” She sighs. “But, I do not want to pressure him either, I’m glad you were able to help him.”

You shake your head. “Ah, it was nothing really. Better than having to patch up Mcree. Acts like he’s facing the execution block when I ask him what’s wrong.”

Angela stifles back a laugh. “Since we’re on the topic of Mcree, he and Genji have been getting along fairly well.”

You blink.

“No way, really?”

Angela nods. “Genji surprisingly talks to him, he hasn’t uttered a word to me, unless it's a thank you, or to yes and no questions. You’ve fared a little better is what I hear. But Genji speaks to Mcree in full sentences!”

You smile. “Well that’s good, he’s probably doing a little better if that’s the case.”

Angela sighs. “I hope so.”

You slowly get up from the table, stretching. “Well, I’m gonna head to bed, see you tomorrow Angela.”

“Goodnight (Y/N), and sleep well.”

You turn the corner, walking down the hall, waving at a few med-bay regulars before you come to your room. The door slides open, and you fall onto your bed. However, you hear shuffling next to you.

Your head is picked up before bright green fills your vision, and your eyes widen, nearly falling off the bed.

It's long, glowing brightly, and...it places a small mushroom into your lap???

You give the creature a look before it drifts away, disappearing quickly. Staring at the small mushroom in your lap, you look around the room. You can stay up for twenty more minutes.

You rush down the hall with the mushroom in hand. Carefully not to damage or drop it. You come to the gardens, finding a few cooks gathered.

“Hey, Bart, look at this!”

Bart, the tall, large build chef turns to you, peppers in hand. “Ah, what’s that ya got there?”

“Dunno, it's a mushroom, but I need to know what kind so I can take care of it.”

You gently hand the mushroom to Bart, who examines it, before giving it a sniff. “Why it’s a button mushroom! Smells fresh too!”

“Well?”

“Follow me, I’ll help ya plant her!”

The two go into the closet, Bart grabs a small light blue pot, placing it in your hands, as well as a bag of manure. You almost topple over from the weight. You place the manure on the ground and Bart opens the bag, grabbing the cup and scooping manure into it, and placing it inside of the pot.

The mushroom is planted inside of it.

You smile softly. “Thanks,”

Bart turns to you as he wipes his hands off on his pants. “Any time,” He pauses. “Where, did you get that anyway? We don’t have a shipment of those coming until next Friday.”

You shrug, staring at the tiny plant. “Dunno, some weird...green lizard thing gave it to me before I went to bed.”

“Hm, was it glowing?”

You nod. “Sure was, almost got blinded.”

“Ah, that oughta be Cheeseburger!”

You blink. “What?”

“Well, I call them cheeseburger, little devil that thing is. Nobody knows what it is, all it does is steal food and mess with people. It does like to get pet behind the ears though if you can catch it that is.”

You chuckle lightly. “Then why would it give me a mushroom?”

Bart shrugs. “Maybe it likes you.”

You turn back to the mushroom.

“Yeah, sure.”

Thinking about River and his "it's hard for me to talk about what's biting at my ass" line (during the Hunt) and then later (during Following the River) he opens up and tells V about his parents and if V interrupts him before he gets into more detail he responds with "heard sob stories enough?"

Do you ever just... think a bunch about characters like these? You know, the characters who are always the rock to lean on, the anchor, the source of safety and stability and calm? The ones who are so selfless and full of love and compassion, that might not always have their own needs met because they always put others first? And especially in a world like Night City, where everything is just so very fucked? Where something like this can definitely be taken advantage of?

And this is not to say that River is some doormat that others walk all over as they please, and all he does is smile and put a thumbs up. In River's case (and in general honestly) I do not think kindness should be mistaken for weakness.

He is not weak or boring or naive, not even for someone living in Night City. In fact, it's pretty damn brave to hold onto kindness and altruism like that especially considering the world he lives in and everything he's been through.

I think about the text he sends to V letting them know they can always talk to him. And then I think about the Sun ending, the Path of Glory, how there is the opportunity for V to tell River that he is their rock, their anchor.

And he smiles with content for a moment. But V is leaving.

V, the one who helped him find Randy, helped him put his life back together in a different, but more beautiful way. The one he could turn to in his time of need, the one to be like yes I will help you, and I do not expect anything in return. The one who listens when he opens up about his trauma. The one who refuses to accept his help, the one that says "you being here is enough."

V, the one he falls so hard and so quickly for.

V, the one that is dying, that he may never see again.

I don't know where I was going with this, but on a completely unrelated note, my heart feels like it has been shredded to a million pieces.

“Long Ago, Airachnid was With The Decepticons, Where Her Cruel, Cold-sparked, Murderous Demeanor

“Long ago, Airachnid was with the Decepticons, where her cruel, cold-sparked, murderous demeanor served her well. After the Great Exodus of Cybertron, however, she decided to go solo. These days, Airachnid spends her time engaging in her new hobby: collectingendangered species… well, parts of endangered species, mostly the heads. Now, if a species isn’t endangered? Oh, they will be. She’ll make sure of that, and she’ll make sure it’s a slow, painful process.

Less trustworthy than even Starscream, she is more than willing to kill her own men or leave her commanding officers behind if it means getting what she wants. The pain and trauma she had inflicted on Arcee, from said Autobot’s torture to the brutal execution ofher partner, have given them a vicious, bitter history, and both will stop at nothing to kill each other. She also has the ability to control Insecticons.”

So while watching the movie in the theater, I thought I saw Venom as taking a snake or eel like appearance while showing up physically when talking to Eddie in the movie. But now that I look more closely

So While Watching The Movie In The Theater, I Thought I Saw Venom As Taking A Snake Or Eel Like Appearance
So While Watching The Movie In The Theater, I Thought I Saw Venom As Taking A Snake Or Eel Like Appearance

actually looks like Venom shapes a face like a mask held up by tendrils.

So While Watching The Movie In The Theater, I Thought I Saw Venom As Taking A Snake Or Eel Like Appearance
So While Watching The Movie In The Theater, I Thought I Saw Venom As Taking A Snake Or Eel Like Appearance

You can even see through the fangs in Venom’s mouth in the last picture, it’s neat.

You didn’t understand why Winston insisted on you and Genji doing missions together. At first, you were just confused. Genji was fast, and agile, and quiet. And you, while fast enough you suppose, were loud and conspicuous. Genji was a quiet breeze that swept in the storm clouds and you were quite literally the lightning that followed. Flash shouldn’t follow subtlety.

But Genji was so kind, and so gentle, and so encouraging. You became confused about other things. About Life. About Luck. About Love.

You tried really hard not to think about love.

FLORENCE CASTLE’S HEROES OF CYBERTRON - EP. 09: OPTIMUS PRIME (3)

PUNTATA 9: OPTIMUS PRIME, terza parte.

FLORENCE CASTLE’S HEROES OF CYBERTRON - EP. 09: OPTIMUS PRIME (3)

FLORENCE CASTLE’S HEROES OF CYBERTRON - EP. 09: OPTIMUS PRIME (3)

FLORENCE CASTLE’S HEROES OF CYBERTRON - EP. 09: OPTIMUS PRIME (3)

FLORENCE CASTLE’S HEROES OF CYBERTRON - EP. 09: OPTIMUS PRIME (3)

FLORENCE CASTLE’S HEROES OF CYBERTRON - EP. 09: OPTIMUS PRIME (3)

FLORENCE CASTLE’S HEROES OF CYBERTRON - EP. 09: OPTIMUS PRIME (3)

FLORENCE CASTLE’S HEROES OF CYBERTRON - EP. 09: OPTIMUS PRIME (3)

FLORENCE CASTLE’S HEROES OF CYBERTRON - EP. 09: OPTIMUS PRIME (3)

“I Thought You Were Dead!” - Genji Shimada

“I Thought You Were Dead!” - Genji Shimada

Pairing: Genji Shimada x reader

Genre: angst -> fluff

Word Count: 1k

Summary: its been two years since your boyfriend, Genji, died tragically. now, you’re being stalked & that figure in the shadows seems a little too familiar

CW: mentions of death, loss of a loved one, stalking, reader gets attacked, allusion to kidnapping?? panic attack if you squint

————

It’s raining when you receive the call. A broken voice on the other line uttering words you never wanted to hear: your boyfriend, Genji Shimada, died at the hands of his older brother.

You drop the phone and sink to your knees, an animalistic sob tearing through you. It feels like your heart is going to fall out of your chest.

He was the love of your life, the only person who ever truly understood you. You thought you’d get married some day. Instead, the last time you see him will be in a casket.

If only he was still here. You would do anything to get him back, but that doesn’t matter now.

He’s gone.

(Two years later)

Someone is following you.

For the past week, you’ve felt their presence. On your way to work, while you’re working and on the way home, even when you’re in your house alone at night. You can feel eyes on you, lingering.

Tonight as you close up shop at the dead store, you feel their eyes once more. It’s dark outside, the only lights being the ones casted from your storefront. Plus, you’re the last one working. You’re all alone, and you’re being watched.

Not that if any of your coworkers would help. The only person you told tried to talk you down and say you’re just being paranoid, and the others would probably think you’re crazy. So you bit your lip and tried to ignore the problem.

You finish closing earlier than usual and waste no time in getting the hell out of there. You live close so you walk to work most days, but tonight you keep your house keys between your fingers and turn at every noise.

You know that there’s someone there and if you could just turn around and catch them—anything to justify your paranoia, that urge to run. There’s a feeling that you just can’t shake, one that says you’re going to die tonight.

Your mind flickers for a second, like every time you think of death, you think of the love of your life. You wonder if he knew he was going to die that night, if he expected it. Was he scared? Genji was so cocky sometimes, you could hardly believe he’d ever admit to being scared. But knowing him the way you did, you think despite his best efforts at hiding it, he was terrified.

You turn the corner, only a few blocks from home now when you hear another noise. Your head flicks over your shoulder, and that’s when you see it. A shadow on the roof, their eyes following you.

That’s all it takes for you to start running.

You break into a sprint, shoes pounding the pavement. It’s cold out, and you’re trying your best not to slip. You turn again, and run face to chest into a brick wall of a man.

His arms are spinning you around and tugging yours behind your back before you can even register what happened. As soon as the realization dawns on you, you’re struggling. Kicking against him and trying to escape.

There’s a glint of metal on the rooftop above you, followed by the soft thud of footsteps. The fight is a blur, all you know is that the man that had you is now on the ground.

You spin around to face your saviour. The dim streetlights cause the surface of his silvery armour to glimmer. Green lights dance across his body. You’ve never seen him before, but there’s an air of familiarity.

“Y-you saved me,” you stutter out.

He nods slowly, not speaking.

You squint at him. He looks almost the same height as the shadow on the roof earlier. In fact, his build is eerily similar to the one that’s been chasing you.

“You’ve been following me,” you state.

“Not you,” his voice is metallic, but underneath it, you can pick out the slight inflections. He’s human. He points at the man laying crumpled on the ground, “him.”

“So he was the one following me?”

He nods, “I was just trying to protect you.”

It makes sense, but you can’t shake the feeling that there’s something more behind his words. Something he’s not telling you about who he is, or what he’s doing there.

“So, are you going to tell me your name or am I just going to call you green cyborg ninja dude?”

“Green cyborg ninja dude?” He scoffs, “I have a name.”

“But?”

You can already feel where this is going, and you’re not sure if you like it or not.

“I don’t want to scare you…”

“You saved my life, how could I ever be scared of you?”

He sighs, and his metallic fingers press the sides of his visor. Carefully, he pulls it over his head. You’re in shock. Though his face is scarred, you would recognize him anywhere.

Somehow, against all odds, Genji Shimada is standing in front of you. Alive.

“G-Genji?” You don’t even finish before the tears start. There’s no way he’s here—you went to his service, you grieved him.

“Y/n,” he mumbles, reaching out for you before stopping midway. “I-I know this must be shocking.”

“I thought you were dead!” You wail.

Your voice echoes off the walls, mixing with the sounds of your choked sobs. Genji stares at you, unsure of what to do. He wants to comfort you, but he doesn’t know where your boundaries are after being gone so long. are—how are y-you here?

“Fuck it,” he mutters to himself and tugs you into his chest. “Shh, it’s okay. I’m here—deep breaths, okay? I’ll tell you everything, just calm down.”

You sob into his armour, hands pounding on his chest. Genji holds you regardless, and his touch is so familiar it only makes you cry harder.

“I missed you so much,” you whimper into him.

He rubs your back, “I missed you too, baby. But I promise, I won’t leave you again. Never again, okay?”
