2 things to add.

1: I can confirm it sounded like in the scenes on the plane the music was primarily snares with bases in the background. We also paused the movie so I could yap about how they actually drum that fast on snares.

2: I watched a video essay the compared the comic and movie “When the wind blows”. It’s a movie about nuclear fallout and is very dark, watch at your own risk. I was making a comment about how I find it weird that they always play music over scenes of the mushroom clouds.

DR.Strangelove or how I learned how to stop worrying and love the atom bomb review. Ik it’s an old movie but I still will mark spoilers. I got the disc from my local library and encouraged you to do the same! (Only if you want to man)

Spoiler free: a great satire but it most certainly deserves the dark comedy label.

And since this is a dark comedy set in the Cold War, some upsetting stuff comes up. I don’t go into detail but I also don’t know how to warn for this beyond a blanket BAD SHIT AHEAD.

Things I thought important to note: post nut conspiracy, chemicals in the water, mediocre sex is the fault of the commies, laughed when general conspiracy killed himself (it was just so predictable yet shocking). General conspiracy fully thinks fluoridation of the water is a commie plot to destroy America.

plane scenes have snares and maybe bass (knowledge curtesy of fish.) they also seem to be playing when the saint go marching in or another war movie tune.

war room after recall and plane we follow is going to bomb; general gum looks worried as all hell. I do not remember anyone’s names besides mandrake and strangelove, so instead they get what I remember about them.

As doctor Strangelove kept talking I kept thinking “someone shoot that man”. He’s a German scientist working for American and as the tensions rise you definitely see “aspects” “Roman salute”

The gif is a lot darker (to me), context available. Before I honestly thought he did that as a patriot. The wilhelm(or adjacent) scream was playing as he waves his hat. He went down to the nukes to get the door to work. He had to know. We had to pause because the nukes were signed and because it was a lot in the moment.

The end -I believe- is test footage with Vera Lynn’s “we’ll meet again” playing in the background. Fish brought up how he thinks it was a weird choice, and how he’s seen something like it in “where the wind blows”(?) fact check me on that fish.

To summarize: 10/10 but geez does it live up to the dark comedy label. This has to be my most unorganized review cause I was pausing and yapping and writing. I would recommend it but only if you want to watch something like it.

Kevin, the crow I got for Christmas is coming with to file my name change! Let’s hope the people actually let us file this time.
