Hi! Made an incredibly quick and easy to comprehend guide because you freaks need it tbh. Image quality kinda sucks but whatever, you get it. Stop putting yellowface on my dash.
Reblog. This could really help someone out.
There are so many ways to celebrate this beautiful month! Pride parades and festivals and marches will take place all over the U.S. to elevate our LGBTQIA+ selves, friends, and family. Your Tumblr dashboards deserve to feel just as commemorative, so all month long we’re going to be highlighting amazing LGBTQIA+ Tumblrs for you to follow.
As we celebrate, we also want to remember the serious event from which Pride has evolved. This month marks the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Stonewall Riots, a series of political protests that began at The Stonewall Inn in New York City. Young Black and brown LGBTQIA+ people—particularly trans POC—were the first to stand up and protest against the police brutality and inhumane treatment of people within their community. They deserve to be remembered, respected, and honored.
And so, this year, our theme is “Educate. Advocate. Celebrate.” We’re sharing resources and information about the LGBTQIA+ community to help educate those who are not as knowledgeable about the history of the community. We’re advocating for the community by providing links to helpful resources, small businesses owned by LGBTQIA+ folks, and non-profits to support. And, of course, we want you to celebrate who you are. Through that, we’ll be spotlighting non-profit organizations, LGBTQIA+ artists on Tumblr, and more throughout the month right here on @action. There are so many wonderful LGBTQIA+ Tumblrs out there, and we want to continue to support and uplift them.
There’s also a little bit of fun added across the platform. See the Tumblr “T” up at the top on the left on desktop web? Hover your mouse and see it cycle through different LGBTQIA+ flag colors, including the traditional LGBTQ+ rainbow flag, trans flag, non-binary flag, genderqueer flag, lesbian flag, POC LGBTQ+ flag and more. Using the app? Open up the sticker drawer and find some of those Pride flag in sticker form to use however you see fit.
We want to know how and who you’re educating, advocating, and celebrating this month. Is it you? Your parents? Your best friend? Is there a small business owner we should know about? Make a post about ‘em! Make sure to tag your post with #Tumblr Pride so the whole community can find it.
Stay safe and stay kind, Tumblr. ❤️
The appalling travesty that was BBC’s Sherlock has infested the Sherlock Holmes fandom like a malignant tumour so I want you all to know how awesome the OG literary Holmes was:
The literary Sherlock Holmes was an autistic coded character before people knew what autism was.
The literary Sherlock Holmes was an explicitly aromantic character before people had a word for that.
Literary Holmes solved mysteries not merely for the intellectual stimulation but also out of a genuine desire to do good. He cared deeply about every client. HE WAS NOT A HIGH-FUNCTIONING SOCIOPATH! He could definitely be insensitive and blunt but he was not callous or unfeeling.
Literary Sherlock threatened to beat a guy who was being creepy with his own stepdaughter.
Literary Sherlock learned to grow past his misogyny after a woman outsmarted him.
In particular, he was always respectful to Mrs Hudson, never belittling or talking down to her (the otherwise enjoyable Guy Ritchie films screw this up too). In fact, they got along so well that they were actually a very popular ship back in the day.
Literary Holmes would NEVER call Watson an idiot. He was his only friend who he loved and respected, even if he did get frustrated with him sometimes. He didn’t need to belittle others to feel powerful.
Literary Holmes and Watson broke into a corrupt man’s house and witnessed him being murdered by a woman he was blackmailing. They knew exactly who she was but they let her get away because they were chaotic good like that.
Literary Holmes had HUMILITY: something a smug prig like Steven Moffat will never understand. He could be arrogant but he had a sense of humour and was willing to admit when he was wrong. And he was wrong sometimes because he was a flawed human being, not some gross male power fantasy.
Literary Holmes respected the working class and was often disdainful of the rich. In Victorian England!
Literary Holmes indirectly caused the death of a guy who abused (and implicitly molested) his daughters and he didn’t give a single fuck about it.
At the end of the series, Holmes retires to Sussex to keep bees. Beekeepers are awesome.
Leon, alias ugliesarewaste, alias killalluglies, alias slaughter-uglies, etc. is back. He targets people who he thinks are ugly and bombards them with asks telling them to kill themself. His URL changes constantly since Tumblr keeps deleting his blog, but it's always pretty similar in it's meaning.
I'm pretty unbothered by comments like that, plus I've already annoyed him so much he blocked me once, but please, if you see this guy in your notifications, BLOCK THAT MOTHERFUCKER. He's dangerous. Earlier this year he caused a girl to commit suicide and on top of that he's also a pedophile.
i’m not sure why, but i haven’t seen lots of info circulating about the current california wildfires, so i guess i’ll post it.
last week, california experienced a massive heat wave with temperatures ranging from 90-106 degrees F. during this heat, a thunder storm struck, creating 600 wildfires due to the mixing of lightning strikes with dry weather. 600,000 acres have burnt, 64,000 people have been asked to evacuate, and 5 people have died. atop of covid precautions, california is now experiencing massive drops in air quality, causing most northern california cities to experience unhealthy air quality. on saturday, august 22, the wildfires were declared a national emergency. and, there is another thunder storm forecasted to hit the bay area in the morning of sunday, august 23.
please help, if you can, by donating to the places below:
california fire foundation (goes to firefighters & their families)
center for disaster philanthropy wildfires recovery fund (goes to victims)
community foundation santa cruz county (goes to victims)
globalgiving — california wildfire (goes to firefighters & supplying food and medicine to victims)
gofundme california wildfire relief fund (goes to victims)
monterey county community resilience program (goes to victims, specifically of the river fire)
napa valley community foundation’s 2020 napa county wildfire fund (goes to victims)
united way of northern california (goes to victims)
the red cross and salvation army are also accepting donations, but, as they both have a messy history regarding donation (mis)use, i’d HIGHLY SUGGEST donating to the above instead.
here are resources to stay updated on the fires:
