protestants: god is not an absent father! talk to god like a friend! god is always with you! bring your problems to god, no matter how small! it’s not at all weird to call god “daddy!”

catholics: god is far too important to give a fuck about your lost keys or your algebra exam. please address your petty concerns to one of god’s ten thousand holy secretaries. if it’s really important, consider asking his mom.

the term “protect asian lives” i think, inherently, is so much better than just “stop asian hate”

protect asian lives is more so of a call for people to act, that we need to protect these people (of course, there can be connotations that asian people are wildly seen as docile and weak)- but, no, what the point for “protect asian lives” would be moreso of, we need to put an effort into protecting this minority (much like other minorities)

“stop asian hate” seems so much more of just.. an empty term, that we just need to stop hate- but racism isnt just hate. its prejudice, scapegoating, stereotypes, fetishization, all of that!

like, there is a stereotype that asian people are bad at driving (especially asian women)- that makes it, i think, just that much easier to just blame it on an asian woman that, the reason she, say, got into a car crash, was because she was an asian woman (of course, most likely not that blatant about it, but even then she would probably still be able to be blamed for that reason)

also, as seen, asian culture itself, its highly fetishized (especially japanese culture, with high relevancy of weeaboo culture). it can make asian people (again, especially women) feel pressured to fit into these sexualized stereotypes that media presents them as.

the racism isnt just the hatecrimes, but those sure as hell jolted us into realization that, yeah, asian people are definitely oppressed. we are not “close to white” and dont tell us that.

so thats why “protect asian lives” just is that much better, i think. because we do need to protect asian lives

(also, there are other terms like wewillbeheard)

why stop asian hate is kind of a bad term

post about how media negatively harms asian women and also donations

why not to use asian lives matter

acts that you dont think that are deemed racist but are

more asian charity stuff

records on recent asian hatecrimes

nytimes post on asian american racism

also, non asian people dont clown but please rb

I just really want to write a book (in fact, I think that I’m going to) where the protagonist is in a wheelchair. And they live in a city where there’s a group of superheroes. And there’s a big, magical, villain because of course there is.

And since they were a young child, this protagonist has wanted nothing more than to join the group of superheroes. Like they’re a huge fan of the group and they just know that it’s their destiny to join.

And one day, when wheeling through the city, they see the group of heroes fighting the villain. And they quickly wheel over and cry, “Let me help!”

But the ‘heroes’ laugh and instead make a whole bunch of ableist remarks.

And so the protagonist has to prove themselves.

And the villain is trying to warn them to stop.

But the protagonist ends up taking their footrest off of their wheelchair and they swing it. And it hits the villain in the side of the face and the villain collapses and groans in pain.

And so the protagonist proudly smiles and turns to the group of heroes.

Because they just proved that they are strong and worthy enough.

But the group of ‘heroes’ still keeps making ableist remarks.

And the protagonist is shocked.

And meanwhile, the ‘villain’ staggers to their feet and is standing next to the protagonist’ wheelchair.

And one of the ‘heroes’ goes too far when calling the protagonist the R word.

And the protagonist and the ‘villain’ just sort of glance at one another.

And the ‘villain’ is just like, “You know…I can zap them for you…if you want.”

And the protagonist hesitates and says, “Yeah, alright!”

One fried group of heroes later, the ‘villain’ says, “Why do you think that I’m always fighting them? They’re all a bunch of assholes.”

And the protagonist sadly nods and starts to wheel away.

Then:

“Hey, do you want a job?”

The protagonist turns at the villain’s remark. And the protagonist mumbles something like, “Oh, come on. I don’t need your pity.”

And the ‘villain’ is like, “Pity!? Do I look like someone who hands out pity!? I don’t pity you! I’m kind of afraid of you, to be honest! I mean…I’m going to have a giant bruise on my face because of you.”

“Yeah…sorry…”

“Water under the bridge! So, what do you say? Do you want a job?”

And the protagonist thinks about it for a minute before shrugging.

And the ‘villain’ is all excited because they’ve wanted someone to work with them for years but no mortal is allowed to ‘step into’ their lair.

And then the ‘villain’ stops and is like, “Hang on…you can’t work with me in that.”

And they gesture to the protagonist’s wheelchair.

And the protagonist is all embarrassed.

And then the villain goes, “Because we can get you a much better wheelchair! It’ll look great! And it’ll be indestructible! And it’ll have all sorts of weapons and gadgets! Hey, how do you feel about flying…?”

And all of that is literally in the first chapter and then the rest of the story follows the two going around the city like BAMFs, forcing people to stop being ableist, one way or another. And maybe it’ll have some commentary on the scale of morality and what it truly means to be a hero and what it truly means to be a villain.

Would anyone be interested in this!?

Because I really want to write it!?

If you have epilepsy/photosensitivity, you may want to avoid the Quick Reblog thing on mobile for the time being. For some reason the green confirmation bar at the bottom of the screen is now flashing rapidly (basically strobing) whenever I Quick Reblog a post, and Tumblr Support hasn't gotten back to me about it besides the standard list of basic troubleshooting.

My dear lgbt+ kids,

- “If you were really gay, you’d have sex with me. Are you sure you’re not actually straight?” is not helping you find the right label, it’s manipulating you into sex and that’s abuse.

- “I accept your asexuality but I have needs. You need to give me blowjobs at least.” is not a compromise. It’s demanding you to perform a sexual act and that’s abuse.

- “You’re bi and that means you’ll cheat on me if I let you hang out with guys!” is not the cute kind of jealousy. it’s controlling who you spend time with and that’s abuse.

- “I know you go by them/they but I’m angry at you, so I’ll call you he today.” is not a normal little fight. It’s using your dysphoria against you and that’s abuse.

- “If you don’t do what I want, I’ll tell your mom you’re trans and she’ll kick you out” is not a normal little fight, either. It’s using a vulnerable situation to manipulate you and that’s abuse.

- “You’re lucky you got me, nobody else would love someone as complicated and weird as you” is not a love confession. It’s trying to make you feel dependent on them and that’s abuse.

All of those sentences are examples of someone using your identity against you. That’s not acceptable behavior and is not the way you deserve to be treated.

With all my love,

Your Tumblr Dad
