years ago, my mom bought me a dipping crepe maker and I'm happy to announce that it doesn't work
I just tried to use it for the first time (read the manual, watched a few videos, measured everything) and tried to make Easter pancakes and the batter wouldn't stick to the pan but started cooking in the dipping bowl
so to save the batter I tried to make a regular pancake and mixed the whole batter together and it turned into an interesting mass
I managed to make a pancake
one singular pancake
like 3kg heavy pancake
it fed 5 people
it was great, it tasted really good

in light of recent events i'd like to make it clear again that trans people, especially trans women, are extremely welcome on my blog and in my hockey community no matter what. i would welcome trans women on my team any day (and i would welcome them to be really good, too, not just limited to an "acceptable" standard of mediocrity/anonymity that seems to be one of the more common arguments for trans inclusion in women's sports). trans women are women, trans men are men, genderqueer and nonbinary people's genders are real, and everyone deserves respect and will find it with me.

When calculating years, especially by dividing large numbers of hours, does anybody else divide by 365.25 instead of 365 to account for leap years automatically?
Or am I just being dumb/extra. I can't actually tell anymore.

Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.
He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.
Pulling resources from the nearby dump was... Interesting. Signage indicated it was not only well guarded, but that it was routinely patrolled by workers and a public health agency. Despite that, nothing beyond wildlife moved past 9 pm local time. Useful to me, certainly, and I'm sure the owners of the dump will appreciate the fact it will soon be entirely stripped of all waste, leaving only their actual equipment and infrastructure intact, but probably concerning for the blatant misuse of funds and false advertising.
My first extractor won't do much, it can barely sort through a cubic meter in an hour. Thankfully it is both scalable and limited by my lack of resources, so I will be able to clean this site in a week at most, and start sending out mobile versions soon after.

Here is a mass of good rot, almost usable for compost, save for the heavy metal tainting it. Useful for me, being in the open like this, but it would have been a concern for the town in the future.

I'm not sure that's actually true anymore? Like sure it was crony capitalism for a long while, but I'm not sure our current status actually qualifies as capitalism. We technically have the ability to buy whatever, up to and and including laws, except only the uppermost possible bank accounts actually have all of that, everyone else just has "work forever to maybe get food regularly" and that just doesn't sound like capitalism, that sounds like "we own you, we just let you pretend otherwise" which has a name, and it's not capitalism.
Maybe this will help? Nothing else has so far.

My sis and I were upgrading my PC, and had to do a BIOS update for the newer processor to be compatible.
Then we managed to shock the motherboard mid-install and crash it.
Motherboard dead.
Now I gotta order a newer one, and fight to reinstall windows 10.

I do actually care marginally about the guy in that reddit screenshot who voted for Trump and is now worried that he might lose his medicaid funding because I did not fucking stutter when I said healthcare is a human right but the people losing their internships and job offers to the hiring freeze are straight up hilarious.
