Just a reminder that I still make OC moodboards! Just tell me about your characters and I will create something (hopefully) aesthetic for them :)
Loud and proud vs. soft and sweet: these are for Daniel and Diamond by @she-the-bleh. Hope you like them! Requests for OC aesthetics are open.
how do you make your mood boards?
Hey friend, thank you for the question! It’s quite a process, actually. If I make a moodboard for a request, I start out with making a clear list of the information I have, together with ideas for colors and such. Then, I go to tumblr/google/pinterest and just ‘look around‘. Sometimes I search for specific quotes or images, sometimes I simply look up things like ‘blue aesthetic‘, to gather inspiration. I try to make combinations of clear-cut ‘object-images‘ (like: if an OC always wears trench coats or has a loyal dog, I will look up pictures of those), and images that are more focused on the personality of the OC.Browsing like that, I collect way to many images. When I think I have enough, I have a critical look at my pictures and my first list, and decide if I am missing an important aspect of the character. If possible, I try to have at least one image for each aspect/point on the list. When I think I have enough, I start combining things. I simply put together pictures in Paint, try different sizes and combinations. It is easy to see which set-ups look pleasing and which don’t. I shift around images till I have reached a balance in colors that I like. Sometimes I cannot use pictures I really like, because they do not fit the overall scheme.I hope this is not too much/too vague. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
For Mikel, who would rather just watch
Waterwegen [3/7] [1/7] [2/7] [4/7]
My HC is that Jon 'pretentious' Sims learnt some fancy type of dancing in college, like the Viennese waltz or something. When Martin finally musters the courage to ask him 'to go dancing', he shows up at his doorstep in a too nice suit, all hair-slicked-back and shoes-with-heels. Martin, who intended to get drunk enough to lose at least half of his nerves and wore sneakers for the occasion, almost dies on the spot.
Are you aware that you possess a galaxy brain with magnum wisdom?
The Boxer by Mumford and Sons except playing in a late night train that’s nearly empty but for you, while you watch the rain out the window and drink your complimentary hot chocolate.

I have ephita! These small rodent-like creatures (except for their beak) have the ability to read the desires of other nearby creatures. That’s how they sense hungry predators!
I have fjordans! They are somewhat like horses, but thinner and longer, with scales on their bellies and instead of manes. They can run incredibly fast! The little ‘wings’ on their legs help them decrease speed dramatically within seconds. Their nickname ‘cliffdiver’ stems from the fact that wild fjordans can be seen sprinting towards cliff endings. They will stop at the last moment, making it look like they are intending to jump.
I have wren! I have mooncats (spoiler alert: they are nothing like cats)! I have coulags and sentri!
I think the world needs more fantasy novels with completely made up animals. No more “horses.” No more “rabbits.” Deer can stay but ONLY if they’re weird. All wolves must have wings, NO exceptions. No more laziness, its time to Make Shit Up. I expect your heroes to be riding scaly civets with antlers by midnight. I demand a survey of wildlife in the nearby forest that leaves me with no idea what a single word you said meant. I want CREATURES WITH FUNKY NAMES THAT YOU MADE UP OUT OF YOUR OWN HEAD. I want to be UNABLE TO PRONOUNCE THEM. I want all of your RODENTS to be POISONOUS for NO REASON. I deeply desire GIANT BIRDS. I hereby sentence you to five hours on Wikipedia reading about the Carboniferous period and hydrothermal vents.
If you can’t be creative, at least reskin some dinosaurs. It’s time to decide what kind of man you are—the kind that would let his evil overlord ride a tyrannosaurus, or a coward.
Tomorrow, I am leaving to enjoy a three week holiday, with a notebook, but without internet. I will be out of reach for a while, but do keep sending me messages and requests! Everything I have received so far has made me very happy, and I do believe it will continue that way :D. When I get back, I’ll start with the first in line. Have a great summer, everybody!
Aaaaaahhh I know I'm really really late but is it okay for me to send in an OC fact swap? My character Elijah, from my WIP that doesn't have a name yet, sells pride-flag themed sweaters that he and his partner, Erin, knit in their spare time. Not a very impressive fact but still lol, I'm so sorry if I'm too late!
You’re not too late! Facts are always welcome. Thanks for this lovely piece of information. Elijah and Erin sound absolutely adorable. I’d buy a sweater, for sure. My OC Adam, who lives in 1800, frequents Mollyhouses (the gaybars of London in this timeperiod) and talks to new/young visiters, giving them tips on which men to avoid and how to find save partners. (Also, your aesthetics are on their way!)
Sorry to bother you again but 'It's allright' by Mother Mother? Ultimate angsty JonMartin song.
GOD YOU HAVE NO IDEA
I HAVE AN ENTIRE FUCKING ANIMATION PLANNED OUT TO IT IN MY HEAD FEATURING JONMARTIN
ALSO IT FUCKING S L A P S
This blog will combine three things I love dearly: writing, talking about writing, and aesthetics. So if you have an amazing OC for which you crave an aesthetic moodboard or Instagram page - tell me all about them, and I will make you one! After all, every writer needs fanart.
