After a fight, Zoro and Luffy had gone to bath, Chopper's order, but Luffy could not hold back his hunger when he saw Zoro's sweaty and bloody body. He pressed his hands hard against the wet skin and moved his lips over Zoro's skin, inhaled his scent deeply. He was rubbing hard on Zoro's thigh. He stuck out his tongue and licked blood and sweat from Zoro's shoulder. As Luffy took the skin under his lips between his teeth and sucked it, Zoro got his hands on Luffy's ass and pushed Luffy to himself, pressed their groin together harder. While kneading Luffy's cheeks, he tilted his head slightly and looked down at Luffy. Luffy, with dilated pupils and panting, was trying to lick Zoro's body as much as he could, and the sight of it made Zoro excited even more. Zoro slightly leaned down, pressed his lips to Luffy's temple, and left kisses on his face. When he reached Luffy's ear, he stuck out his tongue and licked Luffy's ear. The wet feeling in his ear slightly shook Luffy's hip movements. Zoro took the ear under his tongue between his lips and sucked it hard, Luffy's breath hitched. He wrapped his arms around Zoro's shoulder and dig his nails into skin underneath it. He turned his face and started to leave wet kisses on Zoro's neck. He grabbed Zoro's hair with one of his hands and pulled it hard. Zoro let go of Luffy's ear with a disappointed sigh. There was a trail of saliva between Zoro's lips and Luffy's ear. Luffy looked at wet lips and gulped, his hunger getting worse every minute he looked at Zoro.

Drunk Zoro would cup Luffy's face and caress the scar under his eyes with his thumb, look at Luffy with awe and when Luffy turns to him with his smile Zoro would lean and kiss his eyes and cheek, murmur over his skin (you're so beautiful Luffy, my captain, my king) while Luffy would hug him and laugh because he loves when Zoro is like this. (He calls him Catoro)

When I got back into one piece, I wasn’t sure how to feel about zolu, but then after digesting opla and so much fan content, I was pretty much onboard with these two sillies.

maybe it’s not so much zoro’s willingness to do anything for luffy that makes his devotion so special, but his happiness to be doing it.

when luffy gives him an order, it’s often accompanied by a smile on zoro’s face and a tinge of joy as he replies. when luffy goes somewhere, he follows with a grin and a content look.

for zoro who is a quieter character, more serious in tone, his instant happiness to answer luffy’s orders and to do something for him is so gratifying. and i think it really emphasises his devotion that helping luffy, being by his side, being able to do something for him, etc, is what brings him absolute guaranteed happiness through his cool character trope.

zoro doesn’t feel reluctance following luffy’s lead, he relaxes. for years, as a teenager, he’s had to make executive decisions alone and there’s something in me that feels like he’s happy to give that up. to let luffy decide his course in the comfort of the people he loves. he’s a follower by preference, and he’s found his leader.

and of course he thinks critically, his devotion and loyalty is not blind. zoro is very importantly on an equal footing to luffy, unafraid of combatting any ideas or paths he doesn’t agree with. and that makes his contentment even more special because you know it is wholeheartedly transparent. he would say otherwise, and so that grin on his face is plainly, completely true.

his devotion is so special because it is his happiness too.
