Let’s talk about Saint Suppapong’s physicality in acting for a moment. Watch Love By Chance back to back with Why R U? It’s kind of a revelation.
There are some really good actors in BL and he is one of them.
But when most viewers say “great actor” they’re thinking about facial expressions and how an actor portrays emotions.
What Saint has (and very few other actors anywhere do) is whole body physicality. The way he moves it totally different between Pete and Tutor.
When he walks: where he weights his spine, carries his arms and shoulders, and how he tilts his head is different. Tutor has faster more abrupt movements, Pete’s are more precise and careful.
When he’s standing, also different.
It’s actually kind of insane.
Saint inhabits his own body completely differently depending on the character he’s playing. It’s just really rare to see someone do this. It’s like spy-craft.
I’d love to see him tackle a seme character or a bad guy. I bet he’d be great more aggressive and agro.
It’d be fun to see how he inhabits space when he is required to take up a lot of it.
I think Plan has some of this ability too. Look at him in his Until We Meet Again bit part (aggressive, older seeming, stiff) versus Love By Chance (floppy, childish, and uncontrolled).
But with Plan we haven’t yet got to see him execute this as two different main characters where he has to maintain alternate physicality over time. Although it explains why he’s so great at imitating Tin’s posture and walk in LBC2. (One of my very favourite scenes.)
Crying today because I learnt that -
if someone lets you go because of lack of courage and not being able to take a stand for themselves, don't worry. Because there'll definitely be someone out there who'll always be there to lend you a shoulder or open their arms to comfort you.
i really like the moment when pran holds out his hand to pat and says "i'm done adjusting". initially he's so caught in his own anxious worries that he immediately rejects the handholding but after a second of taking a step back and thinking abt it he's like 'you know what actually i'm okay with this rn' and that's such an important message about intimacy. because yes sometimes stepping closer (esp in public) can be scary but after the initial surprise you might find that you're actually okay with it (and pran holds pat's hand behind pa's back later too). and pran knows that pat would respect it if he's not ready and that makes it easier for pran to 'adjust' i.e. be open about the fact that he does want to hold pat's hand in the corridor outside his apartment. intimacy and getting closer to someone are not linear progresses and often move forward step by step. and i love how we see this in pran especially: he acts subconsciously and then makes an effort to show how he feels consciously about pat and their relationship.
Thank you. For what? For trying to make a silly guy like me happy.
"oh! i've got him confused about his feelings to me"
this line! this line is just so important in seeing pat this whole episode. boy really thinks pran is confused about his feelings because of the kiss. he really is so clueless. maybe he thought pran is avoiding him because it's awkward or something. like looking at his persistence through this lens and how he literally crossed all those lines, pran's mom and group of friends, with no clue as to them being two of the biggest obstacles holding pran down? what would he have done if he knew the truth?
pat was just putting himself out there for pran to be within his reach. for pran to not feel awkward. for pran to know that he is still next to him. i honestly can't even find enough words or the right words to describe him.
Still not over how that scene was improvised ..
