i saw a hc that satoru picked 12/24 in the slight possibility that if he had lost and died, it would be the same day as suguru. immediately reminded me of the little prince, who abandons his body on the exact one year anniversary to make the journey to the star above and join his rose once more

the little prince, among many things, is a story about loss—loss of innocence and youth, of life, and of love. stsg is a tragedy that experiences the same, but whats so great about viewing stsg in the lens of the little prince is that there are so many signs of satoru’s subtle love in every action, indicated through dealing with loss. grief can only exist when there is love, and it is manifested when love has no place to go.
