ALR ALR CHILL
so like, this would be a steampunk vs magic kinda au. We have the "surface" and the "underground", but they are really just surnames, they are not under-over each other (is that grammatically correct? Anyways) and our Dreamy boiii, who is the leader of the Surface, goes undercover to the Underground to search for his long lost brother to bring him back. What he doesn't know is that Nm is literally leading the other side.
In the Underground, it is the more person friendly place, but everybody has to give up something to prove themselves. Killer sold his soul to Nightmare, Dust killed his brother, Horror gave up his life (quite literally, then he was revived), Error gave up his sanity, Cross gave up his sight (he's like, all blind to his white eye, more than half blind to his red one), Epic, who joined because of Cross, gave up his magic, by executing his left eye. Nightmare himself gave up his morality, but despite that, he is still a good leader.
When Dream goes through, he first meets Dust, who shows him around, and asks for him to give up something. Dream, not expecting that, has nothing really that he wants to give up, so he runs away and hides instead, still searching for his brother.
The Surface is controlled by the government, and those who aren't part of it live in literal hell. They want to destroy the Underground, leaded by Ink, who knows whats happening out there, but doesn't care anyway, and Dream, who has no idea his people are dying, and believes the other side tortures his own people. Blue is Dream's bodyguard, who, despite being from out there, cannot tell him what is happening, because Ink threatened him. XGaster is helping Ink in his researches, as his son with the most potential fleed from him while killing his brothers, and now wants revenge.
Sci could be the head of making the governments robotics, and with that being the general of their army as he is the one who knows best how to control the robots.
Dream would eventually find Nightmare, argue with him about their people, Dream would finally open his eyes, and while that, the Underground would be attacked by the Surface. Nightmare would lose his corruption thanks to a magic sucking bullet that hits his right eye, and the Underground, without a leader, would be bound to falling down. That would be when Dream decides he finishes what his brother started, and gives up his soul by becoming the corruption itself, Shattered. They would win the war, the government would be destroyed, and Nightmare would wake up from his coma after everything.
*Expodes and faints*
We need more Sci appreciation
Specifically of the scifi genre
Clean surfaces and AI (the cool kind like R2D2 and Connor from Detroit Become Human) and superstructures
I wanna see Sci working with interfaces and joining couplings and sautering panels in the walls
I want to see him program and tinker with sleek robotic beings and get augments
I want to see his arm replaced with a futuristic prosthetic and his eyes replaced with synthetic ones
And i want to see him go to a dark seedy underbelly to buy parts that have stopped being produced
And BUILD his own brother
Boss shit

some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
