In the depths of his garden on Batam Island, Indonesia, dedicated macro photographer Uda Dennie has mastered the art of photographing jumping spiders that have droplets of water on their heads, giving them the playful appearance of wearing large, reflective hats.
"The massive water droplets stay in place for about a minute, which is just the right amount of time for the 33-year-old to snap these shots. While most of us feel a bit squeamish when looking at macro photos of spiders, Dennie has somehow taken that uneasy feeling away, replacing it with curiosity and glee."

Florida-based fantasy cat artist Carrie Hawks and her family recently adopted Anakin (“Ani”), an absolutely adorable male kitten born without a pelvis or back legs, describing him as a “miracle”. Hawks has created a comprehensive FAQ about Anakin and his life and runs his Facebook page (link) and Twitter feed (link) so that his new fans can watch his progress as he grows up. Of course, there’s lots of cute videos of Anakin playing.

"Long before being nerdy was cool, there was Leonard Nimoy. Leonard was a lifelong lover of the arts and humanities, a supporter of the sciences, generous with his talent and time. And of course, Leonard was Spock. Cool, logical, big-eared and level-headed, the center of Star Trek's optimistic, inclusive view of humanity's future. I loved Spock." ~ PRESIDENT OBAMA
Hybrid hero, poet, photographer, storyteller, Leonard Nimoy wrote two biographies "I Am Not Spock" & "I Am Spock" ♥

Pygmy Seahorses are tiny fish that have evolved to closely match their coral host’s appearance. Adult Pygmy Seahorses usually measure less than 2cm in height. Most species never leave their host coral, feeding on minuscule plankton that drifts by, but there are several free-swimming species. Some dwarf species of seahorse are called “pygmy”, but a true Pygmy Seahorse has a single gill opening and broods their young on the trunk.

At times poetry is the vertigo of bodies and the vertigo of speech and the vertigo of death;
the walk with eyes closed along the edge of the cliff, and the verbena in submarine gardens;
the laughter that sets on fire the rules and the holy commandments;
the descent of parachuting words onto the sands of the page;
the despair that boards a paper boat and crosses,
for forty nights and forty days, the night-sorrow sea and the day-sorrow desert;
the idolatry of the self and the desecration of the self and the dissipation of the self;
the beheading of epithets, the burial of mirrors;
the flute solo on the terrace of memory and the dance of flames in the cave of thought;
the migrations of millions of verbs, wings and claws, seeds and hands;
the nouns, bony and full of roots, planted on the waves of language;
the love unseen and the love unheard and the love unsaid: the love in love.
Syllables seeds.

Nine years ago, Japanese photographer Miyoko Ihara began snapping pictures of the relationship between her grandmother and her odd-eyed white cat. Miyoko’s grandma Misao found the abandoned cat in a shed on her land and the pair have barely been apart since. Misao named the white cat “Fukumaru” in hope the “God of fuku (good fortune) comes and everything will be smoothed over like maru (circle)”. Fukumaru is always in Misao’s shadow whether she is farming her land, having a bath, eating or sleeping. Now nearly a decade later their friendship and adventures have been documented by Miyoko in a photo book called Misao the Big Mama and Fukumaru the Cat.

I don’t know exactly what a prayer is. I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day. Tell me, what else should I have done?

Alessia Iannetti was born in 1985 in Carrara (Italy), where she still lives and works. She enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara, majoring in Painting conducted by Omar Galliani and Fabio Sciortino. Her work, characterized by an illustrative style, is nourished by poetic elements, the artist prefers the classical drawing technique, creating an encounter of hyperrealism of subjects, details and a surreal dimension where female characters, evanescent as spirits, reign in a space between infancy and adulthood.
