I also think about how there's the imperative of "if we don't try and try again, that wall will have no chance of it coming down. But if we keep at it, then there is always a possibility, no matter how slight."

Compare to:

I Also Think About How There's The Imperative Of "if We Don't Try And Try Again, That Wall Will Have

We have to keep telling the story. If we don't, there's no chance for a different outcome... And I think humanity always wants to have a chance. This time, at least, our mutual striving is for continued survival... But so too did mutual striving give us this hellscape. In the grand story of humankind, we wrote the story we are now in.

Deus ex machina?

No. We haven't written ourselves into a corner, yet.

tbh I can't stop thinking about how i went into Hadestown being like "this is a tragic love story based on a greek myth I enjoy :)" and I came out the other side covered in blood being like "this is a thesis about how capitalism inevitably leads to both personal and global ruin, and so we are duty bound to resist it even as we lose, again and again and again. no matter how impossible it feels or how many times we fail and hit a wall and fall, we try again"

ngl I thought the puzzle piece as an autistic symbol meant like. I am a vital puzzle piece to your society. humans would never have invented half the things they did without us. you're telling me it means I'm missing something?? buddy. listen. listen to me reeeeaal closely. no human has all the pieces to humanity. no one. no one has all the features enables no one has all the strengths weaknesses or quirks. no one has a whole puzzle. we make the freaking complete picture together. that's the freaking point.

And honestly, I like the idea of rewarding my things for helping me. It might help me to better appreciate the world around me.

And maybe my phone should be rewarded for connecting me to the greater world (email, text, Google, bus navigator) by getting to sleep more often... instead of having me hate it.

People who talk about what population density is necessary to "justify" a rail system are wrong but they're wrong in the opposite way from how they think. Even in Japan which has more than twice the population density of China the rail system is not profitable. JR makes most of its profit by operating malls and collecting rent from vendors. If you blindly follow profit instead of considering the broader social benefits the result will always be putting your rail system into a death spiral of rationalization. Stop expecting public transport to turn a profit that's not what it exists for.

Nearly 14,000 mail ballots in Nevada have signature issues
Las Vegas Sun
Nearly 14,000 Nevada voters must verify their identity with election officials to cure the signature on their mail-in ballots or their votes

Nearly 14,000 mail ballots in Nevada have signature issues

Officials urge residents to use online tool to check if ballot was accepted

The total number of ballots — 13,906 — needing curing include 6,383 from registered nonpartisan or other voters, 4,026 from Democrats and 3,497 from Republicans.

The deadline for voters to cure their ballots is 5 p.m. Nov. 12, officials said. Ballots can be cured here.

The main issue they're having with young voters is that Nevada allows for voter registration through the Department of Motor Vehicles, and the "signatures" are digital (the licensee types it into a form), so their hand-written signatures on their ballots don't match the KEYSTROKES that serve as signatures on their license.

It would be hilarious if it weren't so fucking infuriating.

hey my besties who live in red states: id like you to go out and vote anyway.

yeah, the electoral college means your vote doesn't count unless you win your state. it's a terrible undemocratic bullshit system. it's not going to change before this election,* so there isn't much point in complaining about it right now.

if you hold the belief that there's no point in voting because your voice will just be downed out by a chorus of bigotry- chances are other people in your state feel the same way. and because those people are not voting, it's impossible to know how many of you there are. the reason it's important to vote EVEN WHEN YOU KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE is to make this number public.

when the minority in a state still goes out to vote:

- other members of the minority party know they aren't alone in their state. this encourages MORE people to vote in the next election

- the majority candidates are forced to divert some of their campaign resources away from swing states to secure a state they were already going to win

- the minority candidates are encouraged to spend some time campaigning in your state instead of abandoning it as a lost cause

- assuming you also vote in local elections, the minority is more likely to win representatives in the house

- who knows there might be so many of you that you fucking flip it by mistake

there has been a 700% increase in new daily voter registrations in the few days since Biden dropped out of the race.

thousands of people are deciding, right now, that voting is worth it. some of them live in your state. there is going to be a spike in blue votes across the country. this election is going to have the youngest voter turnout in history. this is the best possible time to join them. join us.

what have you got to lose? one afternoon?
