Jealous. Possessive. Territorial.
ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING (2021 - ) SEASON ONE
S2 EDITION
Sometimes I feel like I don’t count as a “real” TLK fan 🫥
I’m like… half-watching the rest of Mufasa: TLK now, and I think they just like… verbally confirmed that T&P aren’t an item in this universe.
The audacity lol
(It was the moment where, and I’m paraphrasing here because I can’t be bothered to back the movie up, where Pumbaa is like “love? Gross. It’s not like that’s something I think about all the time and actually really wish I had.”)
And then Timon just pats him on the head.
I actually DO like the idea that they’ve never talked about or labeled their relationship—which is something I’m exploring in my fanfic. There’s an aspect to it about how they finally DO figure their shit out, and how Timon gains a bit of self awareness and emotional maturity for once in his life.
But the fact that THIS MOVIE had the audacity to do that lol
Maybe I’m reading too much into that. Just looking for reasons to be mad because I hate the live action T&P. But yeah, those two barely even feel like friends in this universe.
Do I have any right to actually be mad?!? Probs not. Because it fits my exact headcanon that they haven’t truly defined their relationship until post TLK 2. For me, they (well, Timon, anyways) are so emotionally repressed that they just never discussed it. Ha.
I’m just getting secondhand anger for all you T&P shippers who view them as being openly (and honestly) together as far back as when Simba was a cub.
BLAHHHHHHH I’m digging myself into a hole, here.

I fucking love Nathan Lane’s mustchae in this movie 🙏🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤also hi m in general
Tw for incest but okay I’m qlso gonna rant abt this because I have some OPINIONS about thisbmovie
OKAY FIRST OF ALL THE LOW RATINGS OBVIOUSLY DONT AHVE ANY MEDIA LITERACY. i lowk understand it tho bc like sometimes that happens to me BUT!!!!! the movie was making fun of certain topics like what I said like INCEST and gay marriage. they say all love is love and yeah gay love yaaay but adding incest(two brothers) is obviously bad and they intended it to be TOO EXTREME and ILLEGAL . tthis movie is so random and chaotic and apparently everyone didn’t get that?? like come on a woman’s pussy fell off and you didn’t think this entire movie was satire?? 💔💔💔 okay but uhhhh yeah I think that’s it bc I don’t wanna spoil lots and my fat thumbs are tired👍👍👍
My memory of The Birdcage (1996) is always that it's more dated and more difficult to watch than it actually is. You hear "drag-themed comedy from the 90s based on a musical from the 80s based on a play from the 70s" and you brace yourself just a little, right? But the film has a strong gay perspective, so the fruity fag jokes mostly come off as warmly affectionate. There is a surprising amount of poignancy in Robin Williams' portrayal of Armand, grudgingly agreeing to his beloved son's request that he go back into the closet for an evening ("do me a favor and don't talk to me for a while"). The drag club's staff attempting to redecorate the apartment with stuff straight people might like (a taxidermy moose head, an enormous crucifix, and Playboy magazine) is extremely funny. Albert's histrionics are a point of tension because he does often come off as a stereotypically pathetic/comic figure, but towards the end of the movie he makes it very clear that he's aware of how people see him, and asserts that trying to copy a stoic masculinity he doesn't possess for the sake of social approval would be more pathetic. In the 1983 musical adaptation, they give "Albert" (Albin) the only good song in the whole show, "I Am What I Am", which Gloria Gaynor covered to the delight of gays everywhere. Apparently Nathan Lane wasn't (publicly) out yet in 1996, which is amazing because it means that at one point in this movie you're watching a gay man playing a straight man playing a gay man playing a straight man, in a movie about how it's important to be yourself, an absurdity that does seem to encapsulate the state of gay America in the 90s.
canonically my ass bruh </333(possible delusions
