Ok first of all if you haven't already go read @pengychan 's fic Flat Dreams. It was the most commonly accepted Bill backstory until TBoB and is still my favorite fic ever written. This will make no sense if you haven't!

Whew! Still moving around but happy to have my tablet back. Of course immediately drew triangles. Was in a Liam mood for some reason so here's a take on a Liam-joins-Bill scenario! More doodles and rambles under the cut :]

Bottom left is my take on a Euclydian Liam. Irregulars aren't executed in Euclydia but they're sort of akin to fat people where they face constant, normalized discrimination and are often the butt of the joke. After birth, parents are socially pressured to attempt to fix their child's asymmetry via surgery or shape-correcting braces and are often made to feel ashamed if they cannot, a shame that transfers onto the Irregular once they reach adulthood.

Given how extreme Liam's asymmetry is, he would typically be a candidate for surgery, but the presence of the brick pattern on his longest angle indicates that that's where his lungs are (think of the pattern as something akin to gill slits or indents for spiracles; they breathe through the seams [source]), so instead he gets a brace.

It's not a very good brace. It's a cheap one for the lower class and pretty uncomfortable as all it really does is squeeze really hard. Not super happy with this design so have been brainstorming better ones; I hc Kryptos as having one of these braces too so he's my inspiration!

Bottom right is just the two Getting Scared™ together. Bill has psychotic episodes, Liam has dissociative episodes, and it kinda ends up triggering them both in a big meltdown cycle. Bill starts clawing at his own face and behaving erratically -> this triggers Liam's fear of him and makes him dissociate -> Bill sees Liam's gone away which triggers his own terror of losing him again -> repeat forever!

Alas, as hard as it is being together, it's harder being apart

Hi there! A couple years back I compiled a massive folder of all the bat species in the world* in photographs for quick visual reference. I feel I should share it in hopes that it can help someone like it has me and save them a lot of time looking up ambiguous search terms such as "bat species" or trying to find photographs of obscure ones.

Sub-folders labelled after families (vesper bats, megabats, etc.) for easier sorting

A-Z sorted photographs of all the documented species in the world*

A little text document telling of the best places to find more photographs and/or info about the species

Photographs include professional-grade shots, scientific illustrations, fieldwork photographs, headshots, wingspans, skeletons, skulls, foot details, and comparison shots between species

All files are downloadable, including the folder itself which you can get as a .zip

Some of these photographs are very obscure and needed to be dug out of the farthest corners of the ‘net. This was a passion project of mine in order to give myself an easy-to-access art resource to better understand these animals and their incredible diversity. I hope you can find some use of this, as well!

A Tribute to Avicii | early 2019 | SPEEDPAINT

Reposting some of my favorite paintings from the past year or so. This piece is rather personal to me, all info below the cut from the original description!

“[April 20th, 2018], Tim Bergling, better known under his stage name, Avicii, passed away. I wrote about my feelings regarding this in detail last year, so I won't ramble on for too long, but after creating this, I feel liberated, I think this is what I needed to make to move on. This is one of my favorite pieces, deeply personal to me, and I hope the passion that went into it is visible. Here's to the man, I know he was perpetually and horribly stressed in life, so I hope he's finally at peace. Thought the Bismarck flying fox fit due to the angular white markings on its face, it's truly a beautiful animal. The background is inspired by his songs "The Days," "The Nights," and "Sunset Jesus." The composition of the piece is a reference to his logo: ◢ ◤”

Ten years. Holy wow. There are so many things I want to say that I don’t even know where to begin! But, first of all, I’m truly desolate that I wasn’t able to finish this piece properly in time; this was supposed to be a full work but unfortunately paired with my graduation, a nasty cold and just an overall busy year I just totally ran out of time. I intend on finishing this properly at some point, but for now all I can offer is the line work and the character flats. I hope you enjoy it anyway!

My brother and I have been close our whole lives. We first watched Gravity Falls together in November of 2015. These memories are some I hold so incredibly dear to my heart for so many reasons, but mainly because it was the summer of 2019 when my parents separated, and unfortunately also when my brother was hit very hard by puberty. He suddenly wanted nothing to do with me. We rarely even spoke because more often than not it’d end in a fight that brought me to tears. He hated me, and I could not stand it. I felt so lonely, so betrayed and, more than ever before, longed for the good ol’ days to come back to me.

Eventually, my brother’s destructive behaviour came back to bite him. One day I woke up to hear from some of our mutual friends that everybody had abandoned him; every single one had dubbed him a horrible monster and refused to talk to him ever again. He was completely alone, and, despite everything, I made the decision to ask him what was wrong. For the first time in years he opened up to me. We went on a long evening drive down the highway, just listening to his favorite music and seeing where the road would take us. After this, we finally began to talk again. He’d pop into my room every night just to say hello, watch YouTube and even asked me to teach him how to draw.

The reason I’m telling you all of this is because, during the endeavour, I was often reminded of Dipper and Mabel’s plight near the end of the series. It struck a cord deeper than I had expected it to when I rewatched it during this era, and it gave me hope. Gravity Falls was the last thing we had shared together and bonded over at the time. We created together, we imagined together, we loved together. The days we spent walking around the local track on sunny summer’s days musing over fun ideas for stories and fan-comics were some of the best ones of my life. So, you can imagine how difficult it was to feel like that had all been torn from me.

Nonetheless, just like the Pines twins (both sets! Happy birthday Stan and Ford <3 <3), we forgave each other. We’re best friends again, and I am so incredibly grateful for that. I can’t imagine my life without you, little bro, and I hope we continue to take on the world together for decades to come!

Thank you, Gravity Falls. Thank you for making me laugh, making me cry, making me think, making me feel and making me create. Thank you for the nights I spent curled up on the couch with my whole family, laughing and smiling together. Thank you for making me believe in the power of a sibling bond. Thank you for all of the inspiration, motivation and artistic growth (and being responsible for the first time I was drawing humans regularly!). Thank you for helping me bond and connect with my closest friends in the entire world. It is an absolute privilege to be able to be here to celebrate an entire decade of some of the best television to ever air. I know this show will never truly leave me; how could it after all of this? One day, I’m sure I will watch it again with my children, and then again with my children’s children, and create those memories all over again. And with each line, each frame, I’m sure I will look back to these memories. Moments forever frozen in time, where my family and I were as we should be: well and truly as one.

Originally his surface was supposed to be a lot smoother but I kinda dug the hammered gold look so I went with it! My friends say he looks like an Emoji Movie render. Good.

OKAY had to make a third speedpaint for my video cause I messed the last two up but I know what went wrong and this should be the last one now LOL

Mixed feelings about this one. Whaddya think?

Here's to another year! It's been a real wild one full of some high highs and some low lows, but hey, we're all still alive :)
