Alec/Alexia

A is around 28 years old and of average height, though that is rarely noticeable at first glance. They are a wheelchair user due to paraplegia. They are mixed race (Latinx/African-American) and have light brown skin. Their eyes and hair are dark brown. A’s hair is curly (think in the type 3 area) and regardless of gender they keep it in a short taper fade. They have an athletic build, though their legs are clearly not as muscular.

They have some freckles on their nose and cheeks. They have a slightly rounded face with a small chin, full lips and a wide nose. Their eyebrows are dark and strong. They also have a pierced tongue

Harper

Harper is around 27 years old and basically a tall noodle. They are very tall with a slim build. They are Irish, have dark blue eyes and light almost ivory skin. Their hair is mostly straight and has a coppery color. F!Harper keeps it long just below her shoulders. M! & NB!Harper keep their hair short, though NB!Harper’s hair is just a tad longer going slightly below their ears. Harper prefers to keep their hair out of their face when possible.

They have a few freckles all over their face. They have a long face with a long aquiline nose. Their lips are on the thin side as are their eyebrows. They are somewhat near-sighted and need glasses; but at work they usually wear contacts.

Vincent/Veronica

V is around 35 years old and of average height. Because they are an orphan, their actual ethnicity is not known, but the guess would be Italian, because that is where they grew up. They have a slightly tanned skin tone, dark green eyes and brown slightly wavy hair. V has a muscular build. Veronica’s hair reaches down to her shoulders, she prefers to wear it open or makes a ponytail when she knows she’ll have to move a lot. Vincent’s hair is about chin length, he wears it either open and loose or brushed back. V has a strong straight nose, wide cheekbones, a wide jaw and a dimple on their chin. Their brows are dark and strong, but well defined.

V also a snake tattoo; the tail beginning visibly at their neck, curling over their shoulder, down their arm, its head being on their hand.

Yuu

Yuu is around 30 years old and tall. Xe is Japanese-American and have a warm beige skin tone. Xyr eyes are a very dark brown and black slightly wavy hair. Xe has a slim build. No matter xyr gender, Yuu always has long hair, that reaches just below xyr shoulders. Xe often wears it in a rather messy bun or tie part of it up to keep it out of xyr face. M!Yuu has a bit of a beard going on, while NB!Yuu often has a bit of stubble when xe forgets to shave.  Yuu has a round-ish nose, high cheekbones and thick eyebrows. Xyr lips are on the smaller side.

Xe also has several piercings in xyr ears and a tattoo on xyr left shoulder; a geometrical pattern.

Sage

Scenario, 55. Comparing hand sizes, then linking fingers together.

You're eight summers old when you're in The Queen's study. Sitting on the lush couch off to the side as she writes things you're not sure you understand.

You watch her as she scribbles with her quill. Her face shows no emotion, her hand quick at work.

"Mom," you squeak at her, your eyes watching as she stills.

She looks up at you, a smile blossoming over her face. "What is it dear?" she gently asks, placing her quill down on her desk.

"I'm bored." you pout, poking your bottom lip. You see her hide a snicker behind her hand. "Come here then," she waves you over, patting her knee. "Come sit in my lap."

You smile, quickly making your way over to her. Wobbling a little to the side as you rush to take place on her lap. She lifts you up, her hands cold under your arms as she settles you on her knee. "Better?" she asks you, her eyes shining.

You nod your head, eyeing the paper she was working on. You go to touch it, but she quickly grabs your hand, flipping it over so your palms are touching.

"Look at how tiny you are," she stage-whispers, looking at your hands. You stare at them too, seeing how yours is smaller than hers by a lot. Your fingers not even reaching hers yet. "You're just big," you laugh.

She laughs too, interlacing your fingers together; holding your hand tightly. "I am big, aren't I?" she bumps her shoulder into yours. "Remember, child, I will always be bigger, understand? No matter how old you may get, how tall you grow: I will always be the one by your side."

She squeezes your hand as she talks, and you wince at the pain. "Make sure to wear soft gloves, okay? Don't want you to freeze to death." She lets go of your hand, patting you on the head once before going back to work.

The next day, you wear gloves.

RE: The Watchwood

It’s official! I’m writing The Watchwood again (finally, I know it’s been a year). Thanks for being patient, y’all.

For those who missed it, I put Watchwood on the back burner because of, well. Y’know. Everything that happened like right after we released the first demo build. The Watchwood is a story that deals really heavily with trauma and recovery, and I just could not write scenes that were intended to be traumatic for characters, or scenes that were intended to refer to characters’ past trauma, while living through a new global traumatic event.

Obviously the pandemic isn’t over yet, but things are looking up- at least in my corner of the world- so here I am, picking it back up. Can’t promise a when, but we’ll be getting a new demo build out in the nebulous near future.

MORE IMPORTANTLY

There are a few changes being made! Namely, we’re switching to Twine. This was a big decision and we aren’t going to get into the whys of it, but it is ultimately the best option for us.

Secondly, the ROs will no longer be gender-variable. I’ve realized in writing them that I have very specific thoughts and feelings about gender identities and gender presentations that I want to write through each of them, and while it would be possible to write that in if they’re gender variable, it would be much, much harder to orchestrate ways to actually have those thoughts and feelings be part of the text of the game!

I want the ROs to feel like real, fully-fleshed people, and I’m going to be much better able to do that with their genders locked in place.

So instead of S, B, and V, your romance options are now

Salomón de la Puerta (he/him), the spacey and kind of airheaded fortune teller who operates Greyvale’s metaphys supply shop.

Bridget Schmidt (she/her), a determined and friendly painter who runs Greyvale’s gas station & convenience store.

Vi Dearborn (they/them), a curious and clever writer who has, after a fashion, taken up residence at the local bakery.
