Okay but…what if they were brothers?

So, in this au, Smart Yellow and regular Yellow co-exist. Or, at least, they used to. Lesley created them both, and then handed them off to Roy, who was just recently trapped in her puppet filled limbo. He was tasked with raising them while she worked on the rest of her plans. And so, the two were forced to live together in Roy’s care. He was hardly around most of the time— so David (smart yellow) tended to regular yellow (Manny) as best he could. However, he also wanted to escape. He found out after listening into Roy speaking with Lesley what they were— and what they represented. So David immediately started to try to get them out, hoping they could be free in the real world where he wouldn’t have to fear for his brother’s safety. He was found out, and to punish him, Lesley merged the two together, locking David away and making Manny forget. David was stuck in a dream state for awhile, and only awoke after the battery’s were replaced. That’s when he saw what his brother had been dealing with while he was away, and again, he hoped to free him. As we all know, that didn’t work, but David wasn’t sent back to that state again, and anytime Manny passed by a reflected surface, the two brothers could speak again. Manny doesn’t remember David at all, and David, rather than upsetting him with the knowledge that Manny had forgotten about his brother, lies and claims he’s nothing more than his smart reflection.

Eventually he does find a way to come back, but I haven’t worked that out just yet. But he also hates Red and Duck for how they treated his brother, and is very bitter to them. Manny doesn’t like this, especially since David has never seen the three interact besides in episode six. Manny is naive and a little dumb, but he knows for sure his friends/clump loves him and he’s constantly trying to get David to be a bit nicer, whether that be through tantrums or silent treatments.

Luz: Amity, I'm sad.

Amity: *Holds out arms for a hug* It’s going to be okay.

Willow: Hunter, I'm sad.
