Sigh... Thinking about DFFOO Kadaj again.

The literal definition of a sopping wet cat. But he was so sweet. He was trying his best. He did everything he could despite not knowing what was going on or where to go. He went through so much just to find his family. Any family, really.

Fucking look at him. I want someone to hold him and tell him everything will be alright AND GUESS WHAT. THEY DID. AERITH AND ZACK SWOOPED IN AND GAVE HIM A FAMILY HE DESERVES. Even fucking SEYMOUR of all people realized that Kadaj was happier with the "good" guys rather than trying (and failing) to be a villain.

In Dissidia, it is strikingly clear which characters are meant to be villains and heroes. I think Kadaj was one of the very few, if not ONLY character who switched between both sides. He thought being a villain would help him find mother, but then Sephiroth betrayed him. So he tried again. And Weiss literally kicked his ass and sent his unconscious body to the heroes, saying "he's yours now."

Kadaj was the only villain that was unknowingly a hero. He was always meant to be good. It was the manipulation and lies that made him think he was supposed to be evil. But no. He's just a child who wants a family. And Opera Omnia gave him that.

AND THEN THEY WENT AND SHUT DOWN THE GAME (but that's a different rant)

I mean imagine: sleep-deprived Vic doing his best to organize a surprise birthday party for Helena (because that's what boyfriends do) while doing his best to solve an ancient riddle to stop the Antichrist from ruling the Earth? Question absolutely not giving a damn about the rules and sneaking Huntress into the Watchtower? Question being cornered in some dark alley by some villains he crossed and them getting beaten to pulp by his protective girlfriend? Uncovering some huge conspiracy while dealing with renovation of their first shared apartment?

I would watch the hell out of it

Get Ready For FFC 2025: Roadtrip!

February is approaching fast! The 2000s are old enough to rent a car, so we're taking the February Ficlet Challenge on a roadtrip! One of each day's prompts will have something to do with travel or driving.

Start putting together your lists of pairings or characters!

For those just joining us, the FFC works like this:

Make yourself a list of 28 pairings or characters you want to write for.

Check this tumblr every February morning for the day's prompts.

Write a ficlet of at least 200 words using at least one of the day's prompts and the next character or pairing in your list.

Post that ficlet to the February Ficlet Challenge 2025 AO3 Collection.

For hard mode, write and post the ficlet the same day as the prompts go live!

All that said, we're pretty flexible - feel free to write all your ficlets for one pairing; to only write for those of the prompts that speak to you; to post after February is over; to write poems or meta instead of ficlets. We're here to have fun and make more fic happen!
