About that post where you were responding to a bad take made on Twitter about Endeavor. Honestly what could Hori possibly write to have Enji finally step up as a father? I find Enji really compelling as a character, but the dude has literally had so many opportunities to step up as a father and he just,, hasn't??? Even when Touya was trying to kill himself he barely made an attempt to stop him before deciding to just die alongside him (which I suppose made since for his character but the wrong choice nonetheless). It's to the point where when he FINALLY does step up, I genuinely feel like it won't mean a damn thing. Like he's pushed all the real work dealing with Touya onto his family, which is the ONE THING they asked of him. I honestly wouldn't mind any of the guy's *continuous* failures if they didn't fall back on Shoto somehow every single time đŽâđ¨
To me thatâs why itâs an essential story beat. Shoutoâs whole âbecome who you want to beâ and âyou are not bound by his bloodâ cannot happen as long as he keeps shouldering the burden that rightly is Endeavorâs.
Now the rest of the family stepped in a little, but if Enji sincerily wishes for a future where Shoto can choose to be with his friends and where he keeps his eyes on Touya, he needs to understand that the way to do it, is not by beating villains.
Heâs lack of taking responsibility is why Shouto is not with his friends. Him prioritising his hero role over talking to Touya is why Touya is burnt so badly now.
So if there is a call for back-up to Deku (which I think there will be with the Warp Gate still in play), I think Endeavor the hero would go (feeling like itâs his duty as No 1), but a father may choose to stay with his badly injured son and family and take care of them.
So basically, for me itâs two things: Enji chooses Touya over the logic of hero work. And he tells Shouto that itâs not his burden anymore and lets him join his friends (by stepping up he allows him a real choice instead of being stuck with picking up the pieces).
Omg i donât know if you already have an idea for what to do.. but if you donât yet could you make Dabi a winged dragon like creature for Dekus creature chronicles? your art is so amazing and iâve always loved the dragon dabi aus and iâm curious to see your take on it. if not thatâs totally okay iâm sure iâll love it no matter what you think of since iâve loved everything so far the details are so amazing đĽšđ
This is very sweet- I am afraid I'm not in the fandom to be familiar with AUs, but dragons are always a favorite pick amongst reimaginings. There happens to be only one true dragon in this particular story... but I can show you the Todoroki's now that I have them finished- (I plotted them as a unit)
You can learn a little more of the myths under the cut if you like :)

tidbits under cut
Dabi was the lynchpin design-and his family was built around him! They are all creatures of reincarnation, but with various meanings-
Canon Touya threw around some strong words about being reborn. The way he seems mentally stuck to his childhood, felt like a Phoenix who can't (or perhaps won't) allow himself to grow beyond a certain point, doomed to repeat his self-destruction. Like the other villains though - he's a little more morally grey in this story.
Firebird (Slavic) are often harbingers of either good fortune, doom- or unattainable goals in their tales. If that doesn't sound like Endeavor I'm not sure what does. They differ from phoenix in which they are 'always on fire', but they don't self immolate - they're just 'built like that'.
Tsurara onna (icicle woman) are created from the loneliness of single men during the winter time. When a man gazes longingly at a strong, beautiful icicle, they may appear. They disappear in the summer, and may reappear in winter. The love stories invariably end in tragedy. Considering Rei's dynamic to Enji, it felt fitting.
A Snegurochka (Russian- Snow Maiden) the fairytales often echo tsurara onna, of maiden that melts due to "shenanigans" (not always tied to love stories).Â
Simurgh (Persian) is more of a reach - you can really dive into their different lore and variations, but they are similar to phoenix in which they also immolate to reincarnate after a very long time. They have connections to both fire and water.
There's no myth creature equivalent of both fire and ice. Yet in canon, Shoto is the only one who doesn't provide himself a hero title. His name is his identity. So- he's the only "undefined" creature. There's a number of myths you could read him as if you wanted (he doesn't care).
... Dabi's pheonix fire also plays into forming the character Juzo (Not that anyone asked- this is reaaaaaaaallly reaching into the semantics on the yliaster, or prima materia that forms the philosophers stone- which mentions pheonix fire purification as a metaphor... ah don't worry about it).
Gashadokuro's are the scariest creature I could think of for a nomu.
the trolldorokis
A rare moment when Endeavor recognizes he does in fact have more than one child. He immediately regrets it.
What happened few minutes prior to this:
Endeavor: Move your feet. I want to sit.
Rei:Â Make me.
maybe Iâm thinking too much. But as I wrote snippets of Enjiâs fanfic with whatever ideas that came to my mind, All Mightâs and Endeavourâs catchphrase comes to my mind rather abruptly. Itâs just my perspective on the matter.Â
You know how All Mightâs catchphrase is âI AM HEREâ , whereas during the hero ceremony when Endeavour gets the title number one, he simply says âJUST WATCH MEâ. At first I thought, how reassuring All Mightâs words are, and how proud Endeavour sounds with his. My mind goes âright, Enji. Like youâre that great to deal with everything ON YOUR OWNâ.Â
Then I began processing those thoughts, relating it to my day to day interactions with others and in what kind of situations do I hear those phrases from.Â
All Mightâs âI AM HEREâ is the kind of words Iâd usually receive and offer when weâre shouldering a burden together. Words of assurance as I hold someoneâs hands and go through the tough times with them. In a way, itâs a phrase that meant we are doing it together. Itâs not a bad phrase. Itâs comforting, itâs lovely, itâs encouraging. In other words, you are not alone.Â
How often do I hear the words âJUST WATCH MEâ? It is when I learn by example. In a class as the teachers demonstrate, during my internship when my supervisor guides me⌠and especially when my mother would shoulder a burden all on her own, refusing to share it with me, sheâd say âjust watch meâ, followed by the words âeverything will be alrightâ. âJust watch meâ seems like a proud phrase at the beginning, but it made me realize how lonely it was to walk alone as others watch.Â
just my thoughts!!! made myself sad when all i wanted to do was write jkhsdkfhkjsd
Enji: Uneventful
Keigo: What?
Enji: What?
Keigo: I asked if youâre close with your father and you sat here in silence for five minutes and then said âuneventfulâ

This is from the anime so I trust it less, but theyâre making the same expression both while looking at their father
A useful character cast chart for Heavenly Delusion that can be used to hopefully help manga readers (and anime watchers eventually) keep track of the statuses of the characters in the series (both explicitly shown statuses and ones that are implied).
