Time to go leave comments on fanfics and lose my mind (positive) writing comments on people’s art.

People used to comment on web comics.

People used to comment on fanfiction.

People used to comment on fanart.

People used to comment on OCs.

I hate "content" culture.

I hate "consuming content" and scrolling immediately to the next thing.

People used to be excited about the art that other people created.

People used to want to share that excitement with creators.

I hate this future.

remembering what past versions of Onyx looked and acted like… so I wrote them down

I literally created Onyx right after Sonic 3 came out, and she’s already on her sixth version.

(Also, typing out “sixth” felt so wrong. It doesn’t even look like a real word.)

Anyway…

Reblogging because I’ve gotten comments like this on my blog before. I’ve gone through and blocked all comments like this already.

It’s good to stay aware of these types of things.

Hey guys let me tell you about advance fee scams

I hope y'all are familiar with these in this day and age, especially my artists out there, because they're incredibly common.

About half an hour ago I posted a drawing and tagged it #artists on tumblr, and very quickly received this comment.

My scam radar went off immediately, due to the generic blog name and lack of any emotion in the comment, but I decided it might be an entertaining venture so I dmed them. They asked for a drawing "of these", and sent me a random selfie. I got the details and told them it would be $15, and they promptly offered me $300. At this point I know it's a scam, but I play along for funsies and give them my paypal. Shortly, they send me this image for "confirmation" (I blocked out my email)

And they began to insist that I checked my email. I looked in my spam folder and found the following email.

This is fake. This is not a thing. And the "you're to refund the $200.00 back" is the scam. They send vaguely official-looking emails at you to "prove" that they sent you the money, then have you send them $200 (or however much the scam is for). Then, surprise surprise, you're out $200.

I continued to play along for a bit, and in the second email "Paypal" told me that I had to refund the $200 before they could "credit the $300 to my account", along with these lovely threats.

And yeah, it's silly. But it's not silly if you don't know and get scammed. So. Spread, please! And thank you very much to @mlaurel for the opportunity to get these screenshots.

Yeah, I’ve seen these recently. Had to turn off my ask box because I got several EXACTLY like this. And I’ve been tagged in a few posts with this stuff. I scrolled through the comments of the posts I was tagged in… and it’s just some accounts spam @ -ing other accounts.

I miss when I would get Tumblr asks that actually said things and weren't just digital panhandling scams.

This was the second drawing of Jade I did... it only took 8 hours and 35 minutes.

I... don't blame my younger self for putting shadows over Jade's face... faces are hard to draw.

This is the first drawing of Jade I did. It only took 5 hours and 25 minutes. Better than over 8 and a half hours, I guess...

Experimenting with which way I want to do this…I have 8 different ways I did this.

couldn’t decide which lighting I liked better…so have both! (There will be two pictures with slightly different lighting for the rest of the mushrooms as well)

finding a term that you’ve never heard before but it resonating with you so deeply is a really cool experience

and that is why research on queer identities, whether gender, sexuality, or romance, is so needed!
