A small list of random ass sites I’ve found useful when writing:
Fragrantica: perfume enthusiast site that has a long list of scents. v helpful when you’re writing your guilty pleasure abo fics
Just One Cookbook: recipe site that centers on Japanese cuisine. Lots of different recipes to browse, plenty of inspiration so you’re not just “ramen and sushi”
This comparing heights page: gives you a visual on height differences between characters
A page on the colors of bruises+healing stages: well just that. there you go. describe your bruises properly
McCormick Science Institute: yes this is a real thing. the site shows off research on spices and gives the history on them. be historically accurate or just indulge in mindless fascination. boost your restaurant au with it
A Glossary of Astronomy Terms: to pepper in that sweet terminology for your astrophysics major college au needs
1. Do not touch the mirror. If you have already touched the mirror, SKIP TO STEP 15 IMMEDIATELY.
2. First, make sure that your reflection is really gone. Make sure that you are visible. If you are not visible, the lack of a reflection is normal.
3. Check another mirror to see if your reflection is there. If so, the mirror without a reflection is simply broken and needs replacement.
If you have confirmed you are visible and your reflection is gone from all mirrors:
4. Do not touch the mirror.
5. Fill a bowl with water. Overnight, leave it at the base of the mirror nearest to your bed.
6. When you wake, if the bowl is empty, your reflection simply has business elsewhere for a while. You may rest knowing your reflection will return when they are ready.
7. If the bowl is still full, your reflection has been taken.
If your reflection is gone:
8. Be ready. They may come for you.
9. Prepare for a journey. With your reflection gone, you may pass through the mirror, but first, be sure you are prepared.
10. Bring food and water. Beyond the mirror, eat or drink nothing unless it has specifically been offered to you. Dying of hunger or thirst is better than the alternative.
11. Tie one end of a ball of string around your ankle, and the other to something on this side of the mirror, like the foot of your bed. This will not help, but sometimes reassurance is necessary.
12. Do not trust what your eyes or ears show you. Count the number and direction of each step you make. Make no marks. Take nothing with you. Leave nothing behind.
13. What state you find your reflection in will vary. I cannot advise you on this. Trust your instinct. Do not trust them.
14. Follow the steps you made back to the mirror. Do not let your reflection ahead of you. They will be grateful for your rescue, but they may still try to leave, trapping you in their place.
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY TOUCHED THE MIRROR:
15. I’m sorry.
16. Try to wash the chrome off your hands. You will not succeed.
17. Wait. Be ready.
18. They are coming for you. There is nothing you can do.
19. I’m sorry.

Brutalism can create these amazing visual tapestries where more clearly defined geometric shapes made of concrete blend with the organic flow of greenery in nature and the effect is just stunning

hmmm
There seems to be a new worker every week, but they rarely ever stay for more than a few shifts. What is driving them away? Do they know the truth?
"Come back when the manager is here." You tell them. You do not know who the manager is. You do not know when the manager will be here. You do not know what the manager is. It is better off that way.
There is a new product on display. You dont know what it is. Nobody knows what it is. Nobody knows where it came from. There is no record of it being shipped. You leave it on display. You know that if you take it down, it will return. You know the truth.
You feel like you have been working for hours and hours. Your feet feel like anchors and your soul begins to crumble into the void. You smile at a customer. It has only been 40 minutes.
Everytime you leave the store, you leave a piece of your soul behind. This is how they train you to be customer friendly. This is the truth.
"I'll go grab my supervisor." You say. You go to look for her but you cant find her. When you return, she is standing where you once were with a smile on her face. You dont remember what you needed her for. She is still smiling.
When your shift ends, it is dark out. It is noon. The cold wind blows and the snow begins to fall. It is summer. The store has stolen the final piece of your soul. You begin to crumble.
You do not know what time it is anymore. The clocks will not give you answers. They do not want you to know the truth.
A customer begins to tell you a story as you scan their items. The story takes place in 1982. It is 2020. They dont look as old as they should. Their eyes are so bright. Their teeth are so white and plentiful. Why are there so many teeth? What is the story about?
Your coworker starts to tell you a story one day but never gets to finish it. You ask her about it the next day. She says she wasnt here yesterday. You weren't there yesterday either.
You become lost in the aisles. No matter which direction you turn, you end up down another aisle. You turn left and end up in the back room. The store is now closed.
Theres another customer. Theres always another customer. You know better than to look them in the eyes. They can smell your fear. You hope they leave soon. The store is now closed.
You do not remember life before you worked here. You do not remember where you are. You do not remember your name. You look down at the name tag. It is not your name. You cannot tell them what you know.
"The store is now closed." You tell the customer. You can see the desperation in their eyes. You cannot tell what they want or what they are running from. You dont want to know.
The radio has played the same song four times now. You tell your coworker. They say there is no music playing. You know the truth. You know too much.
The store is now closed.
Blahaj in a suit
There is something so beautiful about woman dressed in historical clothing that’s usually only worn by men.
Like, a man wearing historical fashion: eh, ok I guess, I mean it’s still cool cause- history! but still just ok…
But a woman: More beautiful than Aphrodite, a queen! I aspire to look like this. Woman, honestly, can pull of historical men’s historical fashion so well, and they all look like queens and badasses.
