so i’ve been binge-watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine all day and I am totally on board with the “John Mulaney should guest star on the show as Jake’s high school best friend/lowkey boyfriend” idea, but I raise you

Once everyone putting it together that they weren’t “just friends”, Amy (out of confusion more than anything) asks “Wait, Jake, you dated John Mulaney in high school?”

And just as Jake is responding “Uh, I guess so?”

John Mulaney says “Wait, your name is Jake?”

Turns out John Mulaney spent the entire time thinking Jake’s name was John (and, of course, this is at the end of the episode, and John Mulaney has only ever referred to Jake as “Peralta”).

John as in “Salt & Pepper Diner” John. As in “Scatter” John.

As is “Jake Peralta has been featured in half of John Mulaney’s best bits over the years, but nobody put it together because of wild misunderstandings”

One of the only things that has irked me so far this season is how Ted's "one out of eleven" style of coaching has kinda disappeared with Zava's arrival, but I think him feeling like he lost/is losing his sense of purpose in London offers a little bit of explanation.

midway through the episode, ted asks henry if he knows that he would only be away from him for something he truly believes in. henry immediately says he knows,  but ted so obviously isn’t sure of what his reason or purpose is anymore. meanwhile, the entire episode is a testament to how much ted has affected everyone around him for the past two years - the team works together so easily, jaime has assumed a real leadership role, rebecca is reminded of the importance of ted’s way over rupert’s, and the entire press room not only listens to him but participates alongside him showing how he has swayed popular opinion and culture as a whole. yet ted still doesn’t see why he’s there.

ted’s main thing is “believe,” but this season he’s the only who doesn’t believe.

Headcanon that Ice grew up rich and because he grew up rich he didn't know SHIT about housekeeping type chores until he made it into the military, and then it was a crash course on how to do laundry, general cleaning, and cooking. Slider fondly remembers the time he had to gently explain that no, Ice, you can't use regular dish soap in a dishwasher. Yes, the bubble river will happen every time you do. No, it won't hurt anything but if I get a goddamned nickname for sliding half down the hallway on your soap spill I'll make sure you get a worse one.

Maverick, on the other hand, grew up bouncing around the foster system. He learned early and learned fast; general chores were spread out amongst the foster kids and you had to do your chore or you would get in trouble. Once he aged out he had all the skills but the years living alone before he met Goose meant he had practically turned them into an art form, something Goose greatly appreciated when they were stateside.

Between the two of them, everyone always assumes that Ice is the homemaker and Mav is a domestic disaster, but its actually the complete opposite. Ice was ready to propose the first time Mav cooked for him, while Mav as officially banned Ice from laundry duty after one too many loads of whites got dyed pink.
