When Sirius has his hair down, Remus knows he can touch Sirius whenever he wants. However, when Sirius ties his hair into a ponytail, it is an indication he is mad and would not like to be touched. Remus, of course, respects this because he knows what it is like to deal with an angry Sirius Black and doesn't recommend it. He would try offering a hug, which Sirius would usually give in to. As for James, he knows what it is like and is the sole person in the universe who can deal with Sirius like that patiently at that moment. He would explain everything from the other's perspective, with kindness and Patience. Regulus would just quip at Sirius sarcastically, saying things like "your hair sucks like that" and say stuff like "you don't know how they feel" and other comments like "you're such a mean bitch" until he realises the situation and is now just mad at Regulus.
