it’s been a while since I’ve posted angst…

After Dally’s death Ponyboy kept his st. Christopher’s necklace. He put a little something on there for every person he loves. Though you never wanted to end up on that necklace, it was dubbed the “grief necklace” for a reason.

The pendant and necklace are Dally’s. His mother’s wedding band is strung on there too, his father’s dog tags from Korea, though those still look shiny and new, eventually Soda and Steve’s dog tag find their way on there. Pony tries to ignore the dent in Steve’s and how a small chunk of the metal is missing. He also tries to ignore how Soda’s is stained red. There’s a small piece of metal taken from Johnny’s switchblade to represent him.

Every time Pony adds another thing to his necklace of grief his heart breaks a little. He wonders when the day will be that he’ll add his own charm to it. Soon, probably.
