“Isn’t pink the most bewitching color in the world?”
— Anne of Green Gables
““I will find you,” he whispered in my ear. “I promise. If I must endure two hundred years of purgatory, two hundred years of without you-then that is my punishment, which I have earned for my crimes. For I have lied, and killed, and stolen; betrayed and broken trust. But there is the one thing that shall lie in the balance. When I shall stand before God, I shall have one thing to say, to weigh against the rest… Lord, ye gave me a rare woman, and God! I loved her well.””

YOU SHOULD ALL REALLY READ OUTLANDER
Relatives tend to share mannerisms and if you want a nice little detail for your stories, I recommend including that.
A father and son share the same restless or anxious movement like chewing on the inside of their lip or tapping their fingers. A mother and daughter both raise their eyebrows when they’re in deep thought. Two siblings both tilt their heads when something is intriguing. A younger brother copies his older brother’s posture. A grandchild copies the way their grandfather crosses his arms behind his back when he walks. A father throws his hat down when his sports team loses and his child grows up to do the same.
Adding niche similarities between my characters and their families is one of my favourite things to develop and one of my favourite ways to connect them despite whatever relationship and differences they may have.
They could hate their family and yet they tap their foot side to side when they’re standing in one spot like their father does, and they scrunch their nose when they close their eyes like their mother did. This can be used to portray your character’s struggle with their family, and amplify their fear over ending up like their family. It’s a subtle addition and yet it adds more depth to their turmoil.
Or on the flip side, it can help show how much your character admires their family by emulating them. It can help show how important their bond with their family is to them by showing those shared, unconscious similarities.
Shared mannerisms are a small detail but they will be noticed by somebody and appreciated.

People raised on love see things differently than those raised on survival.

"We'll teach just those whose ancestry's purest."
SALAZAR SLYTHERIN was a pure-blood wizard, noted for his cunning and determination, and was one of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was regarded as one of the greatest wizards of the age for his abilities as a Parselmouth and as a skilled Legilimens. He selected his students according to their cunning, ambition, determination and blood purity. As a professor, he was in favour of teaching the Dark Arts, and also taught the Unforgivable Curses, such as the Imperius Curse, which were not illegal at the time.
The only darkness I shall allow into my life, is the night
For even then, I have the Moon.
We fight every night for something, but when the sunsets we’re both the same. Half in the shadows. Half burned in flames.
Lily and Remus is out... We need more of Lily and Sirius as best friends.
I'm thinking it started off tense. Sirius resented Lily for convincing James that he needed to change (his best friend was just fine as he was, thank you), but Lily's goodness was contagious and she eventually got through to him too.
Suddenly, gasp, Sirius was helping first years instead of tricking them and it was all Lily's fault. It also didn't help that James wore their good behavior like a badge of honor.
During holiday breaks, he made sure all of James' sappy letters to Lily included a mention of him saying hello. And when he started writing his own, he saved each of her responses in a locked box.
#the "well first off Padme isn't you" it's so on point, honestly
When I see fans going like"Why is Padme attracted to Anakin when Obi-Wan is right there" I am like well first off Padme isn´t you.
Second, Obi-Wan is a good Jedi and friend for Padme, who, like her, is skilled at discourse and a little bit at manipulation but he is also a judgemental sarcastic little gremlin who calls people and children he has yet to meet but have managed to annoy him a little bit "pathetic lifeforms" and uses his mental powers to manipulate minds when he feels indisposed to deal with them and who believed romantic love was a weakness him and Anakin had to outgrown.
Anakin at 9, risked his life to give Padme the tools to go to Coruscant and try to save her planet despite the fact he was a slave and in need of help himself, then he went to war rightalongside her and singlehandely defeated the army that was trying to conquer her planet, then grew up, became very handsome and started telling her how he could not breathe if she didn´t love him, then agreed with her to stay away if that´s what SHE wanted and Padme used to deal with skilled politicians and manipulators 24/07 found his honestly resfreshing.
This isn´t truly so complicated people.
