Nah because this is absolutely true. G1-g3 toys were so much better. And the shows feel like a warm blanket,
Still thinking about g1 ponies. Such good quality, easy to clean, decently cheap for the time. $10 or less, with accessories. The accessories sucked quality wise but you got what you paid for. The hair does fade and dry over time but they’re easy fixes. You can reweigh and reshape the vinyl too. As well loved as g4 was, the dolls could never compare to previous generations. Even g3 had embedded rhinestones or clothing packs you could buy separately.
I honestly find the cartoon pretty comforting too. If I want story I go to Friendship is Magic but if I want safety and gentleness nothing beats g1. Even the colors reflect this.
Anyways I might post some pics of my 5 ponies, including Sweet Stuff and I might do some plushie stuff too. I’ve been putting off a commission for a pony plushie for a hot minute so this might be my time to get off my ass
So I was doing some research on the pony Pacific Glow because she looks so much like Pinkie Pie. During this research, I found this.
This is the funniest thing I've ever seen and I can't stop laughing.

Dream Drifter isn't one of the main characters, but she's definitely got a role to play. On the outside, she doesn't seem all that powerful, just weird; she lives on her own out in the middle of nowhere, is a bit of a hippie, and regularly zones out of any conversation. She spends most of her time sleeping, as well. Only her special cutie mark, which cascades down her leg, belies her true potential.
You see, while she sleeps, Dream Drifter can visit a special "dream world" that lets her enter the dreams of anyone. Any creature who dreams can have their dreams entered, and no spell can block it. What a being dreams about, combined with how they feel about the dreams, can really tell you something about their character...
Furthermore, Dream Drifter can alter a dream at will once she enters it. She primarily uses this power to get rid of nightmares, especially in children. This power can be used for other things, too, such as sending messages.
However, Dream Drifter is very much a neutral party. She's nice to those she meets, but her refusal to work for a cause can be quite irritating to some. She also refuses to denounce anyone as evil, instead telling everypony to look at things from an outsider's perspective. She's very empathetic and an avowed pacifist. If someone antagonizes her, whether in the physical world or the dream world, she will simply leave. She doesn't see the dream world as any less real than the physical world, and in fact, she thinks that if any world were "real", it would be the dream world, since it exposes the true thoughts and natures of everyone, and everyone are equals there.
Lauren Faust originally imagined all her G1 childhood faves in a My Little Pony reboot. So why was Applejack the only one who made it in? We don't know for sure, but here is my theory.
IMO Hasbro went into the MLP reboot wanting each main character to be a different color of the rainbow, similar to TMNT or Power Rangers. (Which is a big improvement over Core 7 G3 when THREE out of seven characters were pink.)
So let's look at the initial G1 crew:
Sparkler - blue Twilight - pink Surprise - white Firefly - pink Applejack - orange Posey - yellow
Already we can see some pink is doubled up. But just wait.
Pinkie Pie was THE face of G3 My Little Pony and Rainbow Dash was nearly as popular. Hasbro made big versions of these ponies, they made small versions of them, they made plush baby versions, and they were immortalized on birthday cards, balloons, ornaments, and other merch. I was so disappointed when I heard Pinkie Pie would be in G4 because I was tired of seeing her, ha ha.
But Hasbro was not tired of selling merchandise of their most popular ponies, so I'm sure one of their first notes was "We absolutely need Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash in the new lineup."
Their personality changes wouldn't matter to Hasbro. What mattered was their marketability as toys / designs.
So Firefly, Twilight, and Sparkler were now out of the lineup, due to also being pink and blue.
Now we have:
Rainbow Dash - blue Pinkie Pie - pink Surprise - white ??? Applejack - orange Posey - yellow
But, uh oh! Pinkie Pie and Surprise both have balloon symbols. So Surprise also must die leave.
IMO the names being trademarked / easily defendable was important to Hasbro, and they already had hundreds of G3 names / designs at their disposal. And also they needed a purple pony for this lineup.
So Twilight Twinkle (later renamed Twilight Sparkle) joined the crew and became a unicorn.
Rainbow Dash - blue Pinkie Pie - pink ??? Twilight Twinkle / Sparkle - purple Applejack - orange Posey - yellow
G1 Glory's colors (white with purple hair) then replaced blue Sparkler. But wait!! Both Glory and Twilight Sparkle-Twinkle have stars on their rumps! So Rarity retained Sparkler's symbol of diamonds.
I don't know why they didn't use one of the G1 names, except perhaps that "Rarity the Unicorn" was already a Hasbro trademark, having been a G3 character.
Rainbow Dash - blue Pinkie Pie - pink Rarity - white Twilight Sparkle - purple Applejack - orange Posey - yellow
So why was Posey changed to Fluttershy? In my opinion she was switched up quite late because the original plot of Dragonshy had her as an earth pony, which is why she was struggling to get up the mountain. (That's why they had to add the bit about Fluttershy's wings locking up from fear.)
In addition to wanting a variety of colors, I think Hasbro wanted two of each main pony species. Originally Pinkie Pie was slated to be a pegasus, but then she was switched to an earth pony. So Yellow Pony was shunted into a pegasus slot instead.
Basically, I think Posey got replaced with Fluttershy because it was thought that butterfly symbols were more befitting for a pegasus. Plus girls love animals and if they needed plots revolving around growing plants, they already had Applejack on deck.
So in the end Applejack was the only G1 pony who remained in G4, not because Hasbro had any special hold on her, but because she had a pretty unique name and she wasn't a repeated color.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
Discord has one of the best redemption arcs I have ever seen. Everything that drives him is the true and honest kindness he received from Fluttershy from the very beginning. She gave him genuine friendship that he didn’t have to fight for, unlike with the other mane 6. Don’t get me wrong, their wariness and distrust was 100% valid. Especially considering how discord betrayed them more than once after his initial redemption. But this betrayal is exactly what I love most about his growth. It wasn’t instantaneous. He didn’t immediately change into a good person or a good friend, He lapsed back into his bad habits and his old lifestyle because that is where he felt safe. He didn’t know how to be a good friend. And certainly didn’t know the first thing about changing. But he worked to become better anyway. Despite his poor choices, Fluttershy stuck by his side as he worked to turn himself around and break away from the lifestyle he used to rely on.
It is such a real representation of what it takes to change. Mistakes, grace from those around you, and most importantly, it takes time. The writers captured all of this and more while still staying true to the whimsy and the chaos that makes Discord who he is. I love this show.
I love them all so dearly
Happy belated birthday, my favorite generation and franchise
The amount of content for G4 makes the other gens look pathetic. The list for g4 is bigger than the list for three other gens put together. There’s???? So much???? Way back when I was first into MLP, I fully thought it was gonna end after Twilight got her castle in season 4. They could have ended it there, tbh. Definitely glad they didn’t tho!
These are stunning

I want to post more g1 and g3 content but I must continue through my rewatch of FiM. No skipsies allowed. You get g4 brain rot until I've completed the rewatch. Yesterday I finished up until the friendship games prequel shorts. Next up is the flurry heart scrapbook shorts 🫡🫡
⭐⭐️Nothing but cartoon horses⭐️⭐️Thoughts, ideas, and brain rot. Enjoy!⭐️
