Fiddleford headcanons I have due to me kinning him!

• Fiddleford was quite traumatised by his family before he went college (it would stem from a place of his family not really wanting to understand him so it would mainly be emotional) but they have gotten better as Fiddleford grew, so it's not like he cut contact with them, but he doesn't really reach out himself.

• Has a strong sense of imposter syndrome (e.g he would acknowledge he is very anxious at a constant rate, but he wouldn't feel comfortable labeling himself as having anxiety because he feels like he doesn't really fit the criteria "Well, sure I overthink things and I feel very panicky when talking to strangers, but that ain't really anything!" Instead he comes up with different terms that undermine his experiences in hope to not convince himself of having something he doesn't)

• After every time he washes his hair, he likes to feel his scalp for really short hair strands and fiddle with them (he has lots of them because he pulls his hair)

• Has some difficulty getting rid of things because of his "What if I'll need it later?" mentality. Not to the point that he would hoard a huge mess, but he keeps all of his used up pens in case he wants to make a machination out of it later or his pencil sharpenings for whatever. He might even get excess material for something and he convinced himself he'll use it for another thing and never does. This does develop into an actual hoarding disorder post portal incident due to not remembering what he has and what he doesn't, so he constantly gets things without really using up anything.

• He has a huge collection of projects he started but didn't finalise. He wants to but there's always something else exciting to get to.

• He would let Stanford get away with a fuckton as long as he didn't hurt himself in the process. He's worried about the portal a lot because he doesn't want something he helped build be the reason he'd potentially loose Stanford.

Being a Ford defender in a nation full of Stan/Fiddleford stans and Bill glazers is tough work but I survive through it

THANK YOU!!!! I never really saw how the fandom saw Ford as a "toxic" character or "egotistical"? and you verbalised every single reason as to why I think so.

I do think that Stanford got a tad egotistical as his relation with Bill progressed before portal incident, but for fucks sake forgive the completely isolated socially awkward outcast from thinking they had the opportunity to change the world for the better because A TRIANGLE LOOKING DEITY he believed in kept telling him he's capable of doing that.

In the end, he got manipulated. His worst version of himself is a product of his misplaced trust on Bill, and he never chooses to side with him when he finds out his true intentions. Even at his "worst" (because everyone seems to be brushing aside that he was EXTREMELY sleep deprived, rightfully very paranoid (his poor eyes) completely stressed and could only afford to be in a flight or fight state of mind) he chose to do things for the better of the world. He called his brother over to hand him one of his journals so that the portal would not be completed, sure it's been 10 years since they saw eachother and you could interpret this as Stanford being selfish, but for fucks sake please PLEASE realise that the whole dimension's at stake PLEASE don't tell me you seriously think Ford could entertain a fucking scenario in which he gets to bond with his brother DO I NEED TO REMIND HE IS SLEEP DEPRIVED AND EXTREMELY PARANOID AND THE WHOLE WORLD'S AT STAKE???

Gf fans when you tell them Ford had every right to be mad at Stan for ruining his Project (he saw it as the only chance to prove himself and get accepted in his dream school, and even tho WE know it was an accident, Ford doesn't he thinks it was a purpose sabotage and it really doesn't help that Stan didn't told him which resulted in him making a fool of himself Infront of ppl he wanted to impress and then Stan tried to pass it off as something that didn't matter even tho it mattered so much to Ford, like of course he'd be mad everyone would be mad in his position)

Gf fand when you tell them the reason why Ford didn't try to reach out to Stan was because he thought he was doing fine since he had seen an ad of his on tv (he had no way of knowing Stan was still homeless anymore, and you don't usually see homeless people's ads on tv), not because he didn't care

Gf fans when you tell them Ford didn't force Fiddleford to do shit for him, and that he was against the use of the memory gun and wanted him to get rid of it but Fiddleford literally erased his memories of it so he could continue using it. And that therefore Ford isn't to blame for everything that happened with the memory gun just cuz Fiddleford had bad coping mechanisms. (Seriously you all are acting as if he pointed the memory gun on his head and forced him to abandon his family and build him the portal. No!! Fiddleford made those decisions himself he could had left Gravity Falls at any moment and return to his family but no he didn't, he chosed to stay and start a fucking cult. That is on him. Not on Ford)

Gf fans when you tell them the way Ford acted during the time where he was literally being abused, manipulated and isolated by a demon is way more complex and naused than "ego! ego!".. because he was literally being abused and manipulated...

Gf fans when you tell them the reason why Ford called Stan to hide his journals wasn't because he only wanted to use him as a way to fix his mistakes but because he was literally really desperate and feared for the safety of the world and he didn't have anyone else he could trust and that he was hella traumatized due to being literally tortured both physically and phycological and sleep deprived and on the bring of insanity (of fucking course he wasn't gonna act logically and say mean shit he didn't actually mean, he was losing his mind! Stan had also said mean shit to him because he was angry but nobody talks about that)

Gf fans when you tell them Ford being mad at Stan for opening the portal is understandable, because 1) he literally ignored all the warnings that the portal could potentially destroy the whole world and 2) he was literally about to FINALLY killing Bill after 30 years of fighting for his life in the multiverse to try and find a way to

Gf fans when you tell them Ford's trust issues are completely understandable because he was literally betrayed, manipulated and abused by the "person" he trusted the most (Bill). And the other two people he trusted did something that hurt his trust on him (Fiddleford erasing his memories, Stan ruining his project)
