Magpies are my favourite bird (kingfishers and rosellas are close behind), hell I even named myself Corvid because of them but my favourite type of Magpie is the Australian Magpie which isnât even a Corvid, but a butcherbird, so I believe they should be called fakepieâs from now on
Hello anon!! :D
Absolutely ecstatic to find another corvid and corvid related songbird appreciator!!
That's a super interesting subject you brought up though đ
Turns out a simple way to tell if most songbirds are corvids (with the exception of Rooks and Grey Crows) is the presence of ânasal bristlesâ on the birdâs upper bill (basically the small feathers on the top beak). Australian Magpies, Grackles, and Butcherbirds look quite similar to corvids, but do not have this plumage! (and you can tell their beak shape is a bit straighter and more triangular)
And youâre right, Australian Magpies (or fakepies hehe) are *super* closely related to butcherbirds (though they are still classified as a different genus)
And lastly, I leave you with a Bonus Fun Fact: all corvids and songbirds are thought to have originated in Australia! So ALL magpies are technically australian >:]
(Also while researching the subject I found this important video I think everyone should see: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EV4qZ_lgStw
Okay, I've been looking around at different kinds of magpies, and I found one with really cool tail feathers
It's called a red billed blue magpie (if you wanted to look them up/didn't know about them)
That's all, you don't have to reply to this, just wanted to share my newfound knowledge
GASP!! newfound bird knowledge is ALWAYS appreciated! (And also any and all bird related asks Will be getting a sketch B) )
Oh and bonus bird! -I had to share one of my favorite unique corvids- the black throated magpie-jay! Theyâre SUPER pretty:
Just look at that gorgeous crest and scissor tail! :DD
(Edit) Alright thatâs a wrap, thank you to everyone who ordered a commission!

The only known copy of the Hussie âFirst Folioâ of c. 1625 exists in fragments in the Bodelian Library (MS. Eng. misc. c. 413). No publishing details are available, provenance is unknown. Â
Prologue:
The uncertain glory of an April day, Which now shows all the beauty of the sun, Limns a youth upon which no name did weigh These thirteen springs. That burden will be one He will take up this morn, and so in this This gentle youth becomes a gentleman, By taking on the name thatâs rightfully his - A token that betokes a divine plan. Where others, who did Fate give name at birth Can have no say in what their fortune tells (Whether lives of misery or of mirth), This youth may choose his Heavens, or his Hells. He stands now at the door of childhoodâs room, Now Let him learn his name, and learn his doom. Â
Act 1, scene 1
   Voice: Enter name.
Boy: Letters are appearing! As if drawn by Some fiery hand - and now I ken they spell The name âZoosmell, Lord of Dungâ? Fie on this, Fie! A shallow jest - better be the names Of rustics than nobility besmirched.
   Voice: Try again.
Boy: More words appear, these pleasing to the eye - Iâll be âJohn Egbertâ, a name for saints and Kings, I trow. Now to take up arms and go, But where among these cakes and bills for rude Entertainments could they be? In this drawer?
Looks in drawer
Boy: No arms. Damn my addled mind: they rest Beneath the cake inside yon magic chest.
Voice: Remove CAKE from MAGIC CHEST
Boy retrieves arms
Boy: No antics or hilarity for now, I must needs store these in my Sylladex. What else lies here? Some Gyves that feign to lock, A Blade that cannot wound, a Hat, a Mask, Tricks to mimic smoke or blood, a Treatise On japes, a Volume on the life of a Man of wisdom who traffickâd in dark arts. All this I fain would take âgainst future need, For now mayhaps this smoke will show itâs meed.
Takes smoke pastilles
Boy: Alas! my arms I now canât bring to hand! This Sylladex is like unto the sack That peddlers use to cart about their wares â And all that they have packâd must be unlade âEre that which they packâd first will come to light. No matter now: anon Iâll set it right.
Examines bill
Boy: No spirits be as facinerious As these. Though fell be their actions and their Passions run to black, these hell-kitesâ exploits Enthrall me and I canât abjure their charms. How now, a note? My father left this here, A birthday gift to mark my thirteenth year.

The Halloween Man âźď¸
(Heâs also on my redbubble if anyones interested đłđđ)
I COMPLETELY FORGET TO POST THIS MAN!! Anyways, new oc dropped! His â¨Lore and backstory⨠are under the cut đł
The Gardener is a deity who was turned to stone for a very long time, resulting in his memories getting scrambled. He has even forgotten his name. He woke up in a garden in an underground lake under a vast desert, amidst the corpses of ancient gods (gods become stone statues when they die) He believes that he was turned to stone to make it seem as though he was dead like the others. Curiously, the depictions and writings on the walls around the garden seem to have been defaced when there is any mention of him. He is the god of architecture, and goes to a small agrarian town every once in a while to buy flowers for the dead god he assumes he was close to, and to feed off of the new architecture built in the town (because all deities must âfeedâ off of something to continue to exist, which is what makes them the god of that Thing). Although there is architecture in the underground oasis, itâs energy is weak due to how old it is. Heâs also not a fan of people messing with his interior design (do NOT move his vases)  ( Also fun fact he was based on the song Horse with no Name ! )
