oh yes, i remember that exact scene and song!! though, i first knew the song from a random memory of my pre-k years lol. the pre-k i went to taught us basic french for some reason, and they taught us the "Alouette" song early on. but as a four-year-old, it didn't really register in my head exactly what the song had meant (like many nursery and children's songs), so you can imagine the shock future me had when i found out what the song was truly saying 💀 the poor bird

but anyways, yes, my pre-k knowledge helped in thinking of rook's possible nickname for me bvjsdvkvs

So a little something I’ve never really analyzed is how much symbolism is in each overblot design!! You can find small hints and nods to events and stories in each outfit. If I had to give an example I think Riddle’s is the easiest to spot, the cards on the bottom. The cards used to symbolize Ace and Deuce are shown in the front of the dress with the cards used to symbolize Cater and Trey being in the back. Of course this could be me over-analyzing, but having Ace and Deuce being shown in front somewhat leads me to believe it was intentional to show how Riddle somewhat followed them and how they refused to follow him. Cater and Trey being in the back shows how they followed him and stood behind him even though they knew what he was doing was wrong! And there’s little things like that in every outfit if you look closely!! - 🦭

you're so right, all the overblot designs have little details and motifs that are very interesting to analyse and can tell you a lot about the characters themselves!

honestly, I think there isn't such a thing as over-analyzing! the artists usually put a lot of intentional little details into the designs, so there could be meaning to them! I really like your interpretation of it, I'll admit I never noticed or thought about this before, so now I'm convinced it could represent this!

my favorite design choice for the ob!designs is how many acessories are made from pure blot, like in Riddle's case: his crown, boots, gloves and the little thingy behind his neck! also, how the phantoms represent their fears/insecurities and the villains they were inspired by! in Riddle's case, it could be interpreted as his mother's influence and how he still feels like he has to follow all she thaught him and the rules bearing down on him, besides the Queen Of Hearts herself.

An: I recently received my Octavinelle nuis, whom now sit on my desk for me to look at when I work. I just had to write something for them, inspired by this fic by SomeCereals.

Nui!Azul likes to collect coins. You can often find it carrying discarded coins, that it found on the floor or wedged between the couch cushions, to it's transparent piggy bank. Once the coins lie safely in the piggy bank, they are considered it's. No one can have them, not even you. (That doesn't stop Floyd from trying to steal the coins though. Mostly to get a rise out of Azul.)

Nui!Jade likes to take pictures of rocks, often stealing your phone to snap dozens of pictures upon pictures of them. Sometimes it finds a nice, smooth pebble and lugs it back home to paint on it. Congratulations, you now have a new paperweight!

Nui!Floyd really likes your shoes for some reason. It likes to hide in them and wait for either Azul or Jade to walk by, then jump out to scare them. But most of the time it ends up falling asleep out of boredom. (One time you slipped on your shoes without looking inside them and accidentally stepped on it. The revenge pranks it pulled on you for the next week was exhausting to get through.)

All three of them enjoy getting the chance to soak in a basin, its like a bath for them! Do be careful of the splash attacks from the tweels when bathing them though. If they ever get out of line, just threaten to throw them into the washing machine. (Floyd fell into the washing machine once and you didn't know, dumping your clothes in and switching it on without a care. Poor Floyd was later found drenched and traumatized.)

The tweels like to sleep together in a different spot every night. Finding them takes considerable effort, given Jade's liking of staying hidden. If you observe them long enough, you'll be able to see Floyd roll over and take the blanket with it, Jade yanking the blanket back, then Floyd getting up after a while and rejoining Jade under the blanket. Rinse and repeat.

Azul has made an empty tissue box it's own little bedroom, with a packet of cotton as it's bed and it's little piggy bank in a corner. Jade and Floyd like to cover the top of the tissue box to give Azul a fright when it wakes up, and it usually works. (Azul got used to it after a while though, and even came to like the darkness.)

Notes: gn!reader, fluff, I did short scenarios since there wasn't a specified format, I guess their relationship is kind open to interpretation? they could either be dating or close friends, you chose!

You were exhausted. Seriously, after having to deal with NRC students' antics for days on end, babysit Grim, Ace and Deuce, do Crowley's chores and study for subjects you've never even heard of some months ago, you felt like you were at your wits end.

Leona

Eyes dropping and body tired, you just wanted to rest for a bit, maybe take a nap to recharge your energy. You really felt like you were about to drop on spot if you had to do one more thing without getting some sleep in first. 

That's why you found yourself at the botanical garden in the middle of the day. After leaving Grim with your friends and trusting them to take care of him (may the Sevens have mercy on NRC), you've wandered to a place you knew would be quiet enough that nobody would disturb you.

Not only that, but you were also looking for someone. Scanning the temperate zone, you perk up a bit once you spot the figure of Savanaclaw's housewarden lazily dozing off on a sunny spot.

Quick steps approach him, stopping in their tracks once you're right in front of him. You kneel down, waiting for his deep rumble as he lazily opens one eye to peek at you

"It's you, herbivore. What do you want?"

His blunt words may sound rude, but you knew he didn't mean any harm by it. Instead of answering him, you silently worm your way into his arms, nuzzling your face against his neck. 

If it where anyone else, they would have been sent to the infirmary in the blink of an eye, although no one else had the courage to do what you just did. Since it is you, Leona only lets out an amused chuckle and wraps his arms around your body, head resting on the top of yours. 

"The brats are giving you trouble, hm?" 

Your groan is confirmation enough for him, making him let out a huff of laughter. 

"Then lets forget them for now. You can stay as long as you don't stir too much, I want to be able to sleep too, you know."

A prolonged hum is his only answer, your drowsiness taking over as your eyelids feel heavier and heavier. The warmth of his body, the comfort of his arms securing you, the smell of his faint cologne and the nature around you, the sound of his calm breathing and the little river running nearby, the feeling of being safe all allowed you to relax for the first time in weeks.

In less than a minute you were already sleeping, little huffs of breath ghosting over his skin, the rise and fall of your chest accompanying his own. Leona's tail swished from side to side, pleased with your company, even if he wouldn't admit to it. 

He wouldn't let anyone disturb your sleep, enjoying this moment between the two of you for as long as he could. If you end up waking up hours later than you intended to, he'll just shrug and tell you he was sleeping too. Besides, you needed the extra rest, so you better thank him. 

Leona isn't the best with words of comfort, hence his actions will speak louder. He tends to pay attention to you, more than you'd think, so if he sees you're getting too tired again, he might subtly suggest another nap. He'll make sure you'll be able to get all the rest you might need, as nobody would dare to disturb him and, by extension, you.

Ruggie

Your shoulders sagged and you dragged your feet through the floor, the fatigue catching up to you after a handful of stressful days. All the responsabilities that were throw your way and your concern of whether you'd be able to go back to your home, your world, were taking their toll on you. 

The thing you needed the most was somewhere to rest, both your mind and body. You've been wanting to spend some time with Ruggie, as you two were very close and you guessed he also could take a break, but he's always busy, running errands for Leona and taking on side jobs.

You sigh dejectedly as you open the door of Ramshackle, preparing yourself to try to actually get some hours of sleep instead of tossing and turning around the bed, mulling over your troubles.

"Welcome!" 

Jumping in surprise, you lift your head to see Ruggie laughing at your reaction, his giggles making his shoulders shake in mirth, tail swishing back and forth.

"Oh, you had to see your face! Weren't you expecting to see me here?"

You stutter something, so jumbled not even you could understand, and he only laughs harder, hand covering his mouth in a signature gesture.

"Sorry, sorry, I couldn't resist it. You looked so cute, like a scared rabbit." It's clear he isn't sorry at all, the grin on his face being proof enough. Though you don't get mad at his antics. In fact, they even made you feel a bit better, a small smile gracing your face in return as you gently shake your head

Gesturing to the couch, you make yourselves comfortable. Leaning onto Ruggie, you let the weight of your preoccupations wash away from you, focusing on how the touch of his side against yours feels grounding, how his arm wrapped around you and hand rubbing circles on your skin feels soothing, how you're finally able to relax.

"Sorry, I know I've been too busy lately, but you know I'll always find time for you, right?" Gazing at him, you can tell he's genuine this time, the sincerity in his tone and expression reassuring you. You nod and let out a hum, closing your eyes and letting your head rest against his shoulder. 

Ruggie laughes affectionately, head resting against yours. One of your hands finds his hair and starts playing with it, you mumble a request: "Tell me about your day."

Ruggie's voice is quiet as he tells you what happened in his classes that day, what ridiculous tasks Leona had given him, what trouble the Savanaclaw students got into, and so on. His voice lulls you into relaxation, your breath slowing.

Soon enough, both are making use of this moment of quietness and peace in your usual hectic lives, recharging your energies.

As someone who tends to overwork himself as well, Ruggie knows how to recognize when you're in need for a break. If he notices more prominent eyebags or sluggish movements coming from you, he'll do his best to make sure you can relax for a moment and reassure your worries. You do the same for him, after all, you take care of each other.

Jade has no fears. What is it? There's a demon butler visiting NRC? Jade has one fear.

Sure, he has his fair share of them. One simply does not grow up in Coral Sea without developing some. But one also simply does not grow in Coral Sea without losing some.

So Jade isn't one for fear.

But why does it have to be a butler type?

Jade can only watch, eye twitching in a nervous tic he got from Azul, as his crush ogles at the demon butler in front of her, hanging at his every word and blushing under his gaze.

His name is Barbatos, he is the loyal butler of Lord Diavolo, the Crown Prince of Devildom and the Headmaster of the Royal Academy of Diavolo, one of the few schools that might be older than NRC and even Crowley himself.

And he's exactly (Y/N)'s type.

A good looking, devilish butler with a gentle appearance and behavior who hides something darker and dangerous behind his tea brewing skills and overall otherworldly excellence? Big hell yes from her.

Why does Jade know that? Jade knows everything he possibly can about his crush, including the knowledge that he is exactly her type.

Or, at least, he's the closest anyone at NRC can get to her type.

He understandably did not account for possible visits from the Devildom, a Kingdom that has kept to itself for most, if not all, of its existence, and now he's paying the price. Floyd, the menace, is having a field day, watching from the bench they share as his other half gets more and more agitated while the demon charms Shrimpy.

"Oh, I'm sorry, am I holding you up? You must be busy with Lord Diavolo– I mean, with helping Lord Diavolo," Jade feels like eating glass at the enamoured look (Y/N) sends the demon, clearly not wanting to part but also not wanting to be rude.

"No need to worry, my lady, the Young Lord has given me some free time while he speaks with Lord Crowley," Barbatos gives her a smile the eel just knows is making her legs weak. "And I'm enjoying your company very much."

Barbatos is particularly hateful because he's actually being nice. His niceness is inherent, not trained like Jade's. And the eel can tell the Prefect can tell, she's good at judging one's character. It's one of the reasons why they get along so well, she can tell when Jade is being genuine or not, a skill very few have.

If only that skill wasn't helping the green haired demon get closer to her.

"O–oh, I see..." The girl places her hands on her burning cheeks, and Jade feels another bitter sting. That is his face, that's the face only he can get from her when he compliments her. "Thank you for your kind words."

"All of them true, I assure you."

"Oh, stop it, I'm already blushing."

"It was not my intention to make you uncomfortable, my lady, but... I must admit you look very lovable," Barbatos offers a hand to her, one she shyly takes, only to then squeak when he places a soft kiss on the back of her hand. "Please, allow me to be selfish and keep you by my side for a few more moments."

Enough.

Jade walks so fast, it almost feels like he's swimming through the air. Floyd's loud laugh follows him like a predator, together with a playful "go get'em, tiger shark". As soon as he reaches the duo, he takes a silent deep breath, making sure his usual smile is on his face as he takes (Y/N)'s other hand, a privilege he earned, and brings it to his chest, right on his beating heart

"There you are, Prefect. I've been looking for you."

"J–Jade!" The eel is more than please to see her eyes completely leave the other to focus solely on him, the blush on her pretty face now all his.

When he looks up, mismatched eyes meet green eyes, and he can tell Barbatos has been fully aware of his presence from the very beginning. A sharp—quite literally—smile forms on his face at the annoyance in the other's eyes.

Ah, the greed of a servant who finally found something they want to be selfish about.

Would be entertaining if what the demon wanted wasn't Jade's already.

HI ANON!!! in fact, I do!

first, there's canon info about their families in their character fact sheets! (Azul, right at the beggining, and the twins, closer to the end, after Jade's bedroom image.) taking these in consideration, I'll go on about how I think they might be more personality wise.

firstly, Azul. as I mentioned in my Azul brainrot, I think his mom is similar to Ursula, in the way that she's confident and elegant, a true sight to behold! I imagine they looking physically alike too, but not so much as Azul's grandmother did. I think her hair might be longer and wavy, that she wouldn't wear so much makeup and that her eyes are bigger. though in personality, you could see some similarities, as Azul's mother is classy and higly intelligent. she's also very iconic, running an indepent restaurant, getting a divorce to not stay in an unhappy marriage, getting together with the attorney who treats her very well and being a general big inspiration for her son! I stan Miss Ashengrotto so much, I'm sure she's wonderful.

Azul's grandma is very inspired by Ursula in the aspect of being a great witch that helps others out of her "kindness". whether this kindness is genuine or fake, like Azul's, I'm not sure, but surely Azul was able to learn a lot about magic with her.

his stepfather sounds to be very caring towards his family, most likely being close to Azul as another role model. his cleverness and negotiation skills are very powerful, making him one of the best attorneys around the sea. he always has an argument to win any discussion, always keeps his calm and composure during trials, doesn't matter how dire things look. after all, the only time a lawyer can cry is when it's all over. (I couldn't resist making an Ace Attorney reference)

I think he lost contact with his biological father after his mother's divorce, as they didn't have a close relationship. he probably gets along with his stepfather's side of the family, as they are also mages and might have helped him with his own studies.

overall, Azul's family is iconic and I'd love to meet his mother on some event because I'm sure she'd be super cool. he's very proud of his family and takes inspiration in all of them!

now onto the twins. their grandmother is probably a very old cranky lady, these grandmas that are always scwoling but have a soft spot for her michievous grandsons. she's strict and judgmental, as she's been hardened by living so long in the cruel waters of the sea, but she loves her family a lot.

their mother is a bit overprotective, especially because she knows all about the dangers of the real world. she had her sons take self defense classes and probably knows they can handle themselves just fine, but she still worries for her babies! I think she's very present and involved in their lifes, sending messages or calling them everyday to hear how they're doing on land.

if you believe the theory of Jade and Floyd being two of many Leech kids, but the only two that survived, this also might explain why their mother is so concerned with their safety, not wanting to lose the only two babies that she has left.

many think their father might be some influential fish mafia boss, what with the way he's involved in some shady stuff, has many rich people coming to parties and signing contracts, and in Floyd's wish, Idia mentions not wanting to know what he does, as he might end up "sleeping with the fishes". I think that's very funny, so I agree with it. their father runs the façade of just selling trinkets and runs some kind of fish yakuza behind the scenes.

whether Jade and Floyd know what their father actually does, I'm not sure, but I think they might. their father also is as involved as he can with his sons, as he loves them above everything else, and tries to teach them proper decorum to not be eaten up alive in such a cruel setting as the sea. I think they both took his lessons differently, as it's reflected on their personalities, and they value him a lot, seeking his advice when needed and obeying him without a fuss.

I think Jade might be closer to their mother, as he's usually the one that answer her calls to keep her up to date on how their lives are doing. Floyd is closer to their father, as he admires his power and way of doing things, following closely any advice he gives (on his own Floydish way). overall, their family gets along very well, despite their sharp edges, and love each other a lot.

I think Miss Ashengrotto and Miss Leech are friends due to their sons close friendship, and Miss Leech is oftentimes found at Miss Ashengrotto's restaurant spending time with her and chatting. I think she's the one that tells her what Azul has been up to, as Azul doesn't have much time to call his mother everyday and she isn't much of a worrier like the twins' mother.

their families are also of a good wealth, as they went to school with a prince and their parents have influential jobs (best restaurant of the Coral Sea, best lawyer, mafia boss). despite their oddities, all have a very good and caring home life!

in conclusion, I want to hang out with their moms at Miss Ashengrotto's restaurant and gossip with them. I bet they have the best embarrassing childhood stories to tell!!

I toss this to you for more floyd analysis that last post had me thinking about how he’d act with a crush and on one hand hed definitely still act like his normal self and whatnot but At the same time I definitely think he wouldn’t know really how to go about a crush

like with how these guys have mostly zero game (like the ghost marriage event 😂),I wouldn’t be surprised of he had moments where he gets frustrated cause he doesn’t get why hes feeling a certain way and checks out for a lil while n cant help but feel like hed also not be sure how to react if he ever (or ever really has) gotten flustered

thinking about Floyd with a crush is SO entertaining, his unpredictable nature makes it possible for him to act in many different ways! even if it may seem out of character, we have no way of knowing if it could be true in this case and, considering Floyd's ever changing nature by mood, it's a possibility!

there's this post, that I think is so cute, of Floyd being secretly a hopeless romantic at heart and wanting to do the stuff you see in cheesy movies and books. whether is something he canonically would do or not is up to debate, but it sure is fun to imagine!

the way I think of it, Floyd with a crush would act as touchy as he usually does, giving hugs and staying close their personal space, and would be kinda blunt like always. I don't think he'd dance around the issue, but he might not know how to react and just do whatever feels right at the moment. so if he thinks they look cute, he'll just outright say it, no shame at all.

and if they return his affections, he'll be delighted! he'll gladly accept any nicknames and hugs and compliments! he'll want to stay by their side for as much as he can, as every moment with them is so entertaining! tho he might get flustered if they surprise him with some sincere declaration of affection when he isn't expecting it, he wouldn't know how to react due to it being a first for him. yes, he knows they like spending time with him since they never run away from him, but actually hearing them say it to his face? it makes his heart flutter and his face feel warm.

so I agree with you, anon! he'll mostly be like normal, but you can see a certain softness whenever his crush is around. Jade and Azul might notice about his feelings before he himself does, since he isn't used to feeling like this and just doesn't know how to recognize a crush. love at the deep sea is very different from how land dwellers deal with it, he'll need some time and patience to get it.
