No mentions whatsoever of character names, settings, situations, or anything that could be tied to the story

The usernames may be identical to people who exist on ao3, but the name is not clickable, and no profile is associated with it EXCEPT when you directly search for that name. What this means: the comments come from an unregistered (not logged in) reader, bots scrape the site for real usernames, attach that to the comment, and post

Please spread the word about this so authors can filter comments and report them accordingly

There has been some speculation about why this is happening at all, and the best guess is that this is a feature that AI-training story-scraping tools are implementing to try and make their browsing traffic look legitimate

i just finished “area cryptid upset no one bothered to inform him of his tragic backstory” after many asthma attacks from wheezing so hard and crying my eyes out and i am a changed person

like what an incredible fucking story. the premise is funny, the writing was so big brain because it somehow took that funny premise and made it into a really comprehensible plot that made sense and was still stupidly funny, the emotional beats hit you like a monster truck with rocket boosters, the character development is subtle but so rewarding, and just. man.

Hc that the ghost kings have inside jokes. Like Hua Chengs is “at least i didnt wait centuries for a hobo”. Qi Rong’s is “at least my cousin loves me” and then He Xuan just has so fucking many.

They meet up for hot girl shit and argue yk. As ghost kings do. They sit in ghost city and eat and talk shit. Every now and then, Hua Cheng and Qi Rong will get into a full blown argument over something stupid(usually Xie Lian). Because Hua Cheng is the definition of a simp and Qi Rong is a Xie Lian anti. Anyways, they go at it like back and forth right and the SECOND He Xuan joins in, everything goes silent.

And they both just turn and look at him and then tear into his entire fucking SOUL. Like it’s relentless. If he wasn’t dead before then he sure is dead now. It goes a bit like.

“You’re both insufferable so can we finish eati-“

“Oh i just KNOW you aren’t talking. Say, Qi Rong, do you remember asking the fateless ocean dweller for his input?”

“…”

“No actually I don’t remember that. I don’t talk to people who fumbled millions of fucking bags AND have no bitches. Do you, Hua Cheng?”
