Some day I’m going to have to come up with a crack headcanon about what exactly is up with the body types in Hyrule’s royal family.
I mean, yeah, it’s probably just dramatic license, but if you take it as fully diegetic, King Hyrule is a straight up beast of a man.
Ganondorf is Gerudo, so there’s at least some textual justification for him being a lanky ogre-man, but what’s King Hyrule’s excuse?
He’s like eight feet tall, and about three feet broad at the shoulder; his fist is the size of an ordinary man’s head!
And yet his daughter consistently has totally average proportions.
There’s something funny going on with the royal bloodline, is what I’m saying.
My emotions are valid*
*valid does not mean healthy, or good, or to be privileged above common sense and kindness
Tumblr really hates small artists promoting their work through links, so if you’re one of the rare people who actually sees this, please do me a huge favor and reblog it! It’s free and supports me. <3

So, I seem to recall someone was saying they wanted to do some King Arthur fantasy, but were having problems finding all the sources they wanted. Here’s a new vid I ran across, that suggests we shouldn’t just look at Western Europe when we’re trying to piece together Arthur’s ‘verse.
Was an Arthurian Knight Inspired by a Hungarian King? Medieval DOCUMENTARY
From one of the video’s comments, about Lazlo: “He was not a hard man to find on a battle field. According to chronicles he was two heads taller than the average man and had a two-handed axe as his favored weapon of choice.”
...Yeah, that kind of guy would stand out.
So. If the theory in the vid is accurate, the Lancelot tales of the saga are royally commissioned RPF insert fics. Who says you’ll get nowhere writing fanfic, hmm?
I also find it so, so relatable that Chretien finally said, “Nope, I’m out; someone else can pick up this abandoned work,” after he was commissioned for the canon-breaking cheating relationship. There are some things no sane writer can do.
And in case you haven’t run across them, Red at Overly Sarcastic Productions also has some good stuff on King Arthur and his loyal knights!

I’d never heard of Feirefiz in particular before, and his bit in the story is Really Cool.
And for general use,
How to Do Research As for books to recommend... I remember reading a collection of King Arthur stories as a kid, but I don’t remember the title! You might look into Roman and post-Roman British history if you want sources for what we think the historical origin of the legendary king must have been. Osprey Publishing books are generally very well researched, I think they've got at least two you can check out!
BBC Sherlock is the best adaption of Sherlock Holmes because it succeeded in making me despise the character of Sherlock Holmes for the rest of my life (and eternity) and made me never want to touch the stories ever again and that’s what Arthur Conan Doyle would have truly wanted.
I’ve had this post saved up for days, waiting to release it when I ran out of other posts, because this is easily the greatest thing I have ever voiced, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to top it
but people keep sending me stuff, and I keep finding stuff on my own, so here it is! based on this hilarious comic by @liberlibelulaart
please do keep sending me stuff! I’ve really enjoyed doing this the last couple of months, and even though there’s still more to come, it’s mostly down to dumb luck, and the well is going to dry up real soon
is there a smell comparable to space ? i assume we dont know because we would die if we tried to smell it but thats so cool
yeah if humans tried to smell space just like that, we’d die, no doubt about it
but the smell of space lingers on spacewalk suits, and docking hatches when astronauts open them!
apparently, space itself smells like burning hot metal, or a hot barbeque grill with a slight hint of spent gasoline. The moon, apparently, smells like a gun after its been shot!
The coolest thing about it all is that the smell is actually what are left of dying stars- it’s literally the smell of stardust, and the particles smell like that because they’re so rich in hydrocarbons- something so very essential to life, and speculated by a lot of astronomers and astrobiologists and such to be the very thing life on earth started from!
another neat fact is that no two solar systems smell the same- ours smells like that because our solar system in particular is extremely rich in carbon, and other solar systems and places in the universe will have extremely different smells depending on what elements are most abundant in their system!
