What software you use for making the game?

I spent most of my project time yesterday researching some specific things about the game's engine, like whether a certain mechanic would be possible etc. It all came back as good news, though I can't say what all of it was since it would kind of spoil some of the fun in playing to know ahead of time.

But what I can say is that I think I'll be able to release the game in installments and people should be able to carry their save files over between each of them, which is one thing I wasn't sure would be possible. It will just require a little bit of planning ahead of time on my part, since adding certain things to a new installment would break old save files (mainly plugins or certain types of scripts requiring data initialization at startup).

So as long as I make sure all the plugins I want to use for the game are already implemented at the first launch, there shouldn't be any problems with people playing the whole thing across one save file through multiple releases/"expansions" or whatever. And of course, I can't delete anything from the new installments that already existed in the former ones.

So that's exciting, because it means I can release a playable game sooner, though I still don't have a release timeframe set yet. What I would like to do is release 1 love interest route at a time, starting with Yurei. And obviously Kage will be in that first release and all subsequent ones because he just won't fucking leave you alone

So excited to say that I took the leap yesterday and paid the $100 fee to publish a Steam page for 2-Headed Boy! Started the application process but I am waiting for them to verify my identity and tax info before I can even start making the page.

No release date set for this yet since I'm only a month into this project, but the entire internet and Steam itself seems to think it's never too early to get your page up.

I hope it's worth it and people like the game ;w; while I'm doing this for the love of creation and not money, I wouldn't hate it if anyone wanted to pitch in on the Steam fee either (I've actually sunk a few hundred into this already between software programs, plug-ins, assets, art supplies, a basic light box etc.)

So I was feeling like a couple of those donations were like...freakishly generous and I wanted to give something back to the donors. I've sent them both a way to redeem items on my shop I just opened a few minutes ago on Ko-Fi, and I have a little tier system now for donations (see the pinned post, it's been updated).

So if anyone is feeling outrageously generous, feel free to check the store page. Tier 2 of my 4 tiers is still a WIP/not available in the store yet as it's a cosmetic in-game item, and it's related to what I'm currently working on in the game, so I'll probably be able to code it in tonight and get the item listed on my shop tomorrow.

Tier 1 is still just the normal donate option/not a shop item, to send $5 and have your name in the credits.
